Kasia grew up in Szczecin in western Poland, a landscape of post industrial wastelands and great conifer and birch forests of Slavic fairytales, which sprawl to the edge of the city suburbs. During her formative years, looking for a creative vocation, she experimented with theatre, dance, painting and in particular a photography; eventually she chose to become a Landscape Architect – graduating with a Masters degree from the University of Szczecin in 2007. Currently she works with a leading landscape architecture practice in London, which specialises in international project work, Kasia has had projects in the middle east, Russia, Europe and America.

Weltschmerz Art and Urban Myth EXHIBITION2011 MEDIUM: event/ dance/ photography/ graphic design

Kasia was the creative director for this art event, which involved an exhibition of paintings held throughout a large labyrinth like gallery in a central London venue. Included performances with musicians, theatre and dance. Kasia’s role was co-ordinating different participating artists as well as exhibiting herself and directing the whole event. Included dealing with the event promotion and designing promotional graphic material for publication. Images question identity and self perception, can we “… see ourselves as others see us”? Who am I? The image reflected in the glass or the idea of self contained in the mind. The project is exploring self identity as a human and as a woman in particular.

Wetland Landscapes2003 MEDIUM: photography

With photography Kasia is interested in the identity of place …. and of the clash of the natural landscape with human intervention. The layering of the traces left in the landscape by human occupation, the character this creates, the harmonies and discords which transform the world around us and forge character and identity. With Landscape design her approach explores the psychology of spaces, seeking to create places of mood, to capture the transitory atmosphere of a place and to provoke and manipulate an emotional response and awaken the senses. She is particularly interested in post industrial landscapes, places with their layering of memory pervaded with a mixture of nostalgia and melancholy.
