Galeco Rainwater Technology is an international

business group operating on the markets of

The Galeco PVC system is made from polyvinyl

chloride, which is characterised by high tensile

and bending strength as well as a high resistance

to mechanical damage. It is light, resistant to the

effects of low and high temperatures and is fast

and easy to assemble. Galeco PVC gutters are

made using co-extrusion technology.

The Galeco STEEL gutter system is an

extraordinarily durable product made from steel

coated with four protective layers.

Galeco STEEL gutters have a deeper prole than

competing gutters offered on the Polish market.

Thanks to this, the effectiveness of the water

drainage of a Galeco gutter rises signicantly for

the same gutter width. We have also paid attention

to their appearance (attractive colours), and long

elements protected from scratching ensure that

the product is popular among Galeco clients from

Poland and abroad.

Galeco STAL

Galeco STEEL is a system made with the best quality

coated steel. It is protected by four protective layers:

zinc, a passivation layer, ground coat and an organic

coat.

The rst COMPLETE SYSTEM FOR PROTECTION

OF GUTTERS AND DOWNPIPES on the market: foil

packing and an internal pipe seam guarantee high

aesthetics and no scratches.

A distinguishing feature of every Galeco product is

the prole of the internal turn-down of the gutter. A

Galeco STEEL gutter has a deep prole (so-called

continental prole), so its efciency is higher than for

competing systems with the socalled Scandinavian

prole.

The Galeco steel system is among systems that are

exceptionally innovative, in which individual elements

have been thought out precisely.

Modern, wide clamp joints with an increased sealing

surface guarantee system stability. A joint suspended

on a hook stabilises gutter connections.

An innovative key system for assembly of corners

and the joint ensures optimal pressing of seals to the

gutter. New clamp corners integrate the tried and

true seal system with an innovative clamp solution.

Furthermore, they do not require the use of joints intheir direct proximity, which minimises

the cost of the entire system. The gutter is installed

directly on the corner in a simple

and fast way.

The rst external corner on the market with angle ad-

justment saves the roong team time during installa-

tion of the gutter system on roofs with atypical angles.

In 2010, Galeco implemented and patented a revolutio-

nary solution the 135 mm exterior corner. This patent

makes it possible to adjust the angle of are depen -

ding on the requirements of atypical roof solutions.

Hooks are installed rst in the Galeco STEEL system,

and gutters are installed only after the roong is

applied. This gives the user a certainty that the gutters

will not be destroyed by, e.g., tools or roong tiles

falling from the roof.

The Galeco STEEL system is available in nine colours:

copper, chocolate bronze, dark brown, brick, dark red,graphite, dark green, white and black.

Material

The Galeco STEEL system is made from the highest

quality coated steel. High sheet durability is

ensured by the application of four protective layers

that protect the material against the negative

effects of atmospheric conditions. The thickness

of the steel core is 0.6 mm. It is galvanised on twosides, passivated and coated with a protective and

aesthetic organic layer.

Complete system of protection

Galeco is the rst company on the market to have

developed a complete system for protecting steel

pipes. An element of the system is the foil protecting

the downpipes and gutters from damage during

transport or storage. This allows for installation of long

system elements without the smallest of scratches.

The foil is degraded over time. Also, the inner seam

of the downpipe decreases the risk of pipes scraping

one another during storage, and consequently, from

scratches.

The foil is to be removed directly before assembly

of the Galeco STEEL system, thus ensuring that an

undamaged and aesthetic gutter system is installed on

the roof.

System selection

When selecting the gutter system, it is recommended to calculate whether it will be able to collect water from the roof

surface of a given building. For this purpose, the maximum effective surface of the buildings roof is calculated.

The above calculations are made under the assumption that rainfall intensity is equal to 75 mm/h, and the roof decline

is a maximum of 50 degrees. For roofs with a decline of less than 10 degrees or at roofs, the maximum effective roof

surface is equal to the roof surface.

Storage

Fittings (system elements) are to be stored in places that are free from moisture. Until assembly, system elements are to be

stored in their original packaging; however, storage of gutters and pipes in foil for more than three months from the date of

purchase is to be avoided (after this period, there may be difculty in removing the foil). If gutters or pipes are stored in bulk,

they are to be protected against sliding and four layers per height are not to be exceeded. Steel is a exible material, which

means that all dents are permanent and may cause the system to leak.

MaintenanceFor care of system aesthetics and life, periodical cleaning of the gutters is recommended. This is especially applicable to

systems installed in places where acid rain, industrial pollution or low emissions from home furnaces are plentiful. Any

damage to the protective layer is to be cleaned and painted with primer for protection against corrosion. After several dozen

years of constant service, the protective layer may be thinner; in which case, the gutters are to be painted.

Instructions for assembly

1. Basic principles

Plan the gutter system, considering:

the size of the system (number of drain line) enabling

drainage of water from the surface of your roof (see System

Selection pg. 10),

number of outlets, joints, endcaps, hooks (we recommend a

dense hook spacing of 75 cm or more), gutters (1 gutter = 3

metres), pipes (1 pipe = 3 or 1 mb) and pipe ttings.

Remember that in the Galeco STEEL system, the joint is

fastened rigidly on the hook to the face board or rafter (rafter

lath), which stabilises the system and requires precise plan-

ning of the places of fastening of hooks supporting the joint

(every 304-305 cm). Remember that the gutter should extend

beyond the roof slope (as shown in g. 1), and it cannot reach

beyond the line being the extension of the roof so as not to be

the only support for snow sliding down the roof (g. 1).

Gutters are to be installed with a recommended decline of

28 mm per 10 m (1:350). Although thermal expansion of the

metal gutter is signicantly lower than for PVC gutters, the

joint has a line of recommended assembly, which is not to be

exceeded (a minimum of 4 to a maximum of 10 mm clearan-

ce is to be kept).

The gutter should be protected against icing. The best protec-

tion is adequate heating of the roof combined with fences for

protection against snow. The use of gutter heating systems is

also becoming more popular. Icing not only applies additional

load to the gutter, but also has a disadvantageous effect on

tightness of the system.

In contrast to other gutter systems available on the

market, we can also install Galeco STEEL gutters after

prior installation of the strip above-gutter strip!

Galeco gutters can be installed after installation of

roong. In this way, the risk of gutter destruction by

objects falling during roong work is avoided (g. 1a).

2. Determination of level

Determine the point of drainage; remember that this is al-

ways the lowest point of the gutter system. The Galeco STEELsystem allows for four different variants of positioning of the

downpipe (see table). Determine the positions of end hooks

and hooks supporting joints (every 304-305 cm) (g. 2).

Install a minimum of three hooks between joints. In placeswhere snowfall is abundant, the amount of hooks should be

increased to a minimum of four (g. 3).

Precise planning of hooks supporting joints is the basis for

simple and easy installation. Cut an opening at the point of

planned drainage and install the outlet. The opening can be

cut using a nibbler or scissors. The shape of the opening is to

be round. The opening can be protected with putty. Remem-

ber to sufciently fasten the outlet tightly using the plates on

its back(g. 4).

Install the gutters by inserting them into the back and then

into the front catch (g. 5a, 5b). Galeco STEEL 90 corners

are equipped with seals. Thanks to this solution, it is not

necessary to use a joint for connecting the corner with thegutter (g. 5c). Hook installation is recommended at a

maximum distance of 15 cm from the corner (g. 6). Install

endcaps. Joints are to be additionally sealed using roong

sealant after installation.

3. Joining of the outlet with a downpipe or elbow.

For roofs without eaves, the outlet is inserted directly into

the pipe (using a muff) (g. 7a). For roofs with eaves, the

outlet is joined with the downpipe using two elbows and a

pipe segment cut to the appropriate length (g. 7b). In areas

of especially intensive snowfall, it is recommended to install

gutters below the plane of roof extension. Excessive snow

coverage of the horizontal part of the gutter installation leadsto icing of the entire system. As a consequently, the system

becomes unsealed, and there is no possibility for correct

water drainage. In order to avoid these irregularities, we

recommend applying a separate de-icing installation.

4. Joining of two downpipes

Pipes are joined using muffs (g. 8).

5. Installation of clamping rings

Clamping rings are fastened with a spacing of no more than

1.8 m (g. 9) using screws (dowels) with a length adapted

to wall insulation thickness. First, the dowel is screwed in,

then an aluminium block is screwed onto it, and nally theclamping ring is installed. The function of clamping rings is

to hold pipes in a vertical position; therefore, they are not to

be excessively tightened (the clamping ring cannot squeeze

the pipe).

6. Conclusion of installation water drainage

a) Drainage into the ground an elbow is to be fastened to

the end of the downpipe. The minimum distance of the

spout/elbow from the ground is equal to 20 cm (g. 10a).

b) Outow to storm drainage or a rainwater tank. The pipe

ending is to be installed in the opening of the settling tank

prepared earlier, joining the gutter system with storm

drainage (g. 10b).

7. Summary (g. 11)

When it is necessary to cut pipes, manual blade cutting is to

be used.
