Perspective

CONCEPT –• Maarten Baas, a famous designer from the Netherlands

• Create a captivating exhibition space in European Parliament Building of Strasbourg, France

• Showcase his “Where There’s Smoke” line, where he sought to breathe new life into classics

using fire and epoxy; perfection and functionality within complete imperfection

• Design that complements the subject’s unique, independent thought

• Square Footage: Approximately 525 SF

DESIGN SOLUTIONS–• Warm toned wall panels and red fluorescent recessed floor lights create the feeling of

being amongst the flames

• Interactive spaces for sitting in the "Smoke Chair" and “Nelson Bench” (commissioned for

exhibition) give visitors a personal connection to his work

• Suspend chairs over flames in the center as if they were floating ashes; creates a focal point

• Movie running on television shows the designer's background and creative process
