I became interested in the sport during the 6th grade when my older brother started playing. Truthfully, the sport runs in my family. My dad played soccer for a Hmong team by the name of Believe. My brother followed him; I followed my older brother; My younger brother followed me; and so on. My three younger siblings also came to play soccer as well.
I played soccer for Table Rock Middle School from 7th grade to 8th grade. I started out as a left defender, then I moved to left mid-field, and officially to center mid-field. I became a team captain in my 8th grade year, and that same year we went to the Conference Champions. We lost 0-1; the other team scored in the last 10 minutes of the game.
I had intentions of continuing soccer after middle school, but things happened and I was not able to.
“I am a member of a team, and I rely on the team, I defer to it and sacrifice for it, because the team, not the individual, is the ultimate champion.” - Mia Hamm
