Our first website was for Microsoft, in 1996, when we developed both the print and online versions of their annual report. We\'ve greatly enjoyed digital work ever since.

Karraker, Strand & Pardners started doing digital work when Netscape Navigator

was the only browser. Besides introducing Internet Explorer 3.0, we used the web

to deliver Microsoft’s 1996 Annual Report.

Other clients have included California Lottery, Bank of America, Crystal Cruises,

Dell, Granny Goose, Fujitsu, Honda Motorcycles, Intel, Kaiser Permanente,

McKesson, Mirixa Pharmaceuticals, Pasta Pomodoro, Royal Viking Line, Sun

Microsystems, Sprint, Tru Green, and Varian Medical Systems.

We have delivered effective work in every medium from TV to annual reports, but

this is our digital portfolio, so that’s mostly what you’ll see here.

We ‘re senior people who have led creative departments at major agencies, but

we have left big agency culture behind, and all the baggage that goes with it. So

we can bring you the best disciplines and best talent of a national agency, but at

creative

fees that you can afford. This is the landing page of the 2009 Kaiser Permanente Annual

Report.

Since 2005, we have written 11 annual reports for Kaiser

Permanente, when you count the online and print versions.

We’re currently working on the 12th and 13th. This one is at:

Do we specialize in digital?

No. We specialize in communications that make people want to buy your goods,

service, or philosophy. Digital is just a new way to deliver the same things that always

make good communications work: An honest conversation between buyer and seller,

a clear message that says why the buyer should be interested in your stuff, and a

friendly feeling about the whole exchange.

As we said back in the day when you put http:// in every address, it’s still just words

and pictures. But now, we can make them a lot more personal with a smart

engagement strategy, and much zippier by letting the viewer interact in real time.

In other words, technology isn’t a substitute for good writing, good art direction, and a

good user experience; it’s an extension of it. At least that’s what we hope to show

you in the next bunch of slides.

We are real believers in simplicity. This proposed redesign

for a yard service company site gave new prospects only

three things to choose from. For current customers, other

choices are available, but secondary.

direct response postcards. This is our

favorite.
