RELATIVE CLAUSES
Activity 1. Read in pairs the next text “That’s Not My Job” and tell your partner what you think about the story.
That’s Not My Job This is a story about four people named
Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody. There was an important job to be
done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it. Anybody could have
done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry about that, because it was
Everybody’s job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn’t do it. It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when
Nobody did what Anybody could have.
Activity 2: read the conversation below and choose the correct indefinite pronoun (anybody, everybody, someone, somebody and nobody)
Ana: Ricardo! Wake up! I think everybody/someone is in the kitchen! Ricardo: someone/nobody is in the kitchen, Ana! Go back to sleep! Ana: I hear somebody/nobody moving around! Can’t you hear nobody/someone? Ricardo: No, I can’t hear anybody/someone! THE NEXT DAY Carla: Everybody is still talking about the surprise party for your birthday! Ana: I know! I told Ricardo somebody was in the living room! Carla: everybody/anybody was trying to find a hiding place. Nobody thought you were home yet! Ana: We got home and went to sleep early. I didn’t think everybody/anybody remembered. Carla: Everybody/nobody was surprised when you came downstairs with a baseball bat! Ana: Haha…yeah sorry about that. I didn’t expect anybody to remember my birthday!
