(2014 to present) National Institute for Advanced Transportation Technology (NIATT) Consult with client to review, revise/rewrite, and edit final reports and grant proposals to be submitted to funding agencies. Work involves reading and understanding technically dense electrical and civil engineering content. Technical Writer, Reviewer, Editor. (2011) Department of Risk Management Consult with client to write content for three annexes to the University of Idaho Emergency Management Plan (EMP): 1) Outbreak of Communicable Disease Management Plan; 2) Mental Health Needs Management Plan, and 3) Special Needs Management Plan. Annexes set criteria and protocols to be followed in department-specific risk management manuals and other EMP communications. Technical Writing Curriculum Developer .(2009 to Present) Department of English Reviewed and revised technical writing course curriculum to meet communication needs of 21st century workplaces. Work included standardizing how the course is taught, web-authoring a master course to be used by all faculty teaching technical writing (both online and traditionally taught sections), and updating curriculum as needed to keep course current.

Professional Writing Curriculum Developer. (2012) Department of English Designed introductory course in professional writing. Work included web-authoring a master course to be used by all faculty teaching this course (both online and traditionally taught sections), and updating curriculum as needed to keep course current. Wiki Designer. (2010) Department of English Designed and built Writing Program wiki for faculty teaching writing courses to use in sharing course materials and collaborating to develop curriculum, including learning outcomes for assessment purposes. Usability Tester. (2007) Information Technology Services (ITS) Conducted usability test of all e-support Help Desk pages for Information Technology Services. Developed test plan, completed task-specific actions, and conducted a cognitive walkthrough. Submitted test findings to ITS with recommendations for revising e-support page content, design, and navigation. Technical Writer, Reviewer, Editor. (2003) University of Idaho Accreditation Reviewed, revised, rewrote, and edited self-study reports submitted by all university departments for accreditation. Work included reviewing for clarity, compliance with accreditation guidelines, and completeness. Met with authors to advise them when reports were not in compliance and/or incomplete. Designed final self-study document format, synthesized drafts submitted by all departments into this format, and completed final edits prior to submission to accreditation committees. Technical Communication Consultant. (2003) Library and Information Technology Services (LIT) Met with faculty and staff of LIT to advise and assist them in developing and writing the content for their accreditation self-study report. Work included presentations to improve interpersonal communications in the department.

Instructional Designer (2010, 2013) Independent Study of Idaho (affiliate of University of Idaho) Designed and built online technical writing course. Updated curriculum to meet standards for technical writing course as set by the UI Department of English. WASHINGTON STATE UNIVERSITY Technical Writer, Reviewer, Editor. (2002) Department of Chemistry Reviewed, revised, and edited articles to be submitted to peer-reviewed journals by faculty in the Department of Chemistry. Work included meeting with faculty to explain strategies for improving the clarity of their writing. GRANTS
