Becoming a shodan is not about being one with your peers. It is to remind us that have gone before you that we must

continually strive to achieve a higher level of Karate practice, that we must respect the art of Karate and those that tread

the journey with us.

Do not beg for your status as a shodan, demand it with the demonstration of excellence in the art of self-defense.
