The Cimarron National Grasslands are in the southwestern corner of the state. The Flint Hills are in the southeastern part of the state. And Mt. Sunflower is in the northwestern part of the state.

The Civil war was held in Kansas from 1861 to 1865 . In 1954 the Supreme Court ruled in Topeka that children of all races could go to school together in Topeka.
