It was a wonderful celebration of singing and our school item ‘Off to See the World’ certainly entertained the audience. It had a great message and was sung with real enthusiasm. Great job students for all your rehearsal work and performance night singing, Ashleigh Hill for your amazing solo piece, Julaiha Kallus for your wonderful piano accompaniment and of course Miss Jarvis for driving our school efforts throughout the whole term. Thank you to our K.V parents and carers for supporting the students on the night. Puppet Show Congratulations to our Year 5 students who performed a puppet play for the school last Friday as part of Threatened Species Day. They delivered an important message about biodiversity and conservation. Premier’s Spelling Bee Congratulations to our four finalists (Joshua Steele, Sharni Stewart, Luca Barger and Sami Barker) who represented the school at the regional finals of the Premier’s Spelling Bee at Nth Nowra Public School on Monday. Well done, spellers! Canberra Excursion This week sees the Stage 3(Year5/6) students heading off to Canberra (which we do every second year) with Mrs Robinson and myself, as part of their democracy unit of study. They will be visiting Parliament House, National Art Gallery, High Court, National Dinosaur Museum, War Memorial and Institute of Sport. I know they are very excited about the excursion and will learn a lot. School Disco The annual school fancy dress/mufti disco is next Thursday evening (20th Sept.) in the village hall. Please see the separate information note about specific details. It is always a super fun event with the Year 6 dance to close the night’s entertainment. School Fete Our school P&C Spring Fete is so close now – September 22nd 11am-2pm featuring fun activities and yummy food for the children and adults alike. Please contact Damion Dillon ([email protected]) if you are able to help out in any way on the day. Andrew Smee - Principal

Your child’s artwork on Calendars, Cards, Diaries and

Sketchpad

Mrs Greer and the kids have been very busy in recent weeks creating

beautiful artwork to put on Calendars and Cards, Diaries and Sketchbooks

that you can purchase.

You can buy a lovely laminated Calendar featuring your child’s

artwork. Or you could buy cards for Christmas, as Thankyou gifts, or to

share with the whole family. Artworks can also grace the cover of a 2019 Diary (A5 size with weekly spread)

or a plain page A5 spiral bound Sketchpad.

This is an annual fundraising activity for our school. Any money we make on your purchases of these beautiful

items goes straight back into your child’s education through the KVPS

P&C.

Order forms will come out soon. In the meantime, have a think about

who would love to see your child’s art every time they look at the calendar:

Grandma, Grandpa, aunties and uncles, relatives overseas. The Cards

make great Birthday or Thankyou cards. Sketchpads can be a great gift for kids to use for their own drawing

and artwork.

Find out what your child is creating in art now!

Prices will be $16 for a pack of 8

Fete Helpers

I need some helpers for the BBQ/Sausage sizzle at the school fete on Sat 22nd September 11am-2pm. Cooking, serving, money handling,

helping for 1, 2 or 3 hours, whatever you can spare. If you can’t spare your own time, maybe you have a spouse/partner/teenager that just lies around the house on Saturdays that you could volunteer instead?! Thanks, Jonathan

Come and Play Cricket

Junior and Master Blasters, Juniors, Seniors - there’s a game for boys, girls, mums and dads of all cricket interests and abilities. Whether it’s a quick blast on a Friday afternoon, a Saturday morning hit or a weekend of competitive cricket there’s a cricket game for you.North Nowra Cambewarra Cricket Club is taking 2018/19 cricket registrations for all its programs and teams. All existing and new players should go to playcrickt.com.au to register. Enquiries can be made to [email protected]

Robertson Burrawang Cricket Club

We are now taking Junior Registrations for the upcoming season. There have been a few changes to the way cricket is being played in the Highlands this year;Woolworths Junior Blasters is a skills based program for 4-7 year olds on Thursday afternoons which we are holding at Robertson starting October 25th. Fee for the program is $99 per child and all equipment is supplied (including a t-shirt with your name on it!)Woolworths Master Blasters is a small game every Thursday afternoon at Eridge Park in Bowral for 8-10 year olds and runs for 90 minutes. 8 players per side and the fees are $99 per child, all equipment is supplied. This one is also starting on October 25th and should be a lot of fun!U11s cricket is on Saturday mornings for 120 minutes, 7 players per team and 20 overs per side on a modified (shorter) pitch and a smaller field, using a soft plastic ball. Starting October 6th. Fees are $100 and this includes a Robertson Burrawang CC shirt with your child’s name and favourite number on the back. All players get to bat and bowl in each game!Girls are able to play down one age group - e.g a 13 year old girl can play in the U11s team. This year it has been decided that the ‘age’ limits are not strictly adhered to, e.g a 12 year old boy who has not played proper cricket before may be eligible to play in the U11s competition. We also are looking for a few extra players in our Senior teams this year for Saturday afternoon cricket, again, no matter what age or ability. Please get in touch if you’d like a game or two (or more!).Finally, we have booked a Sportsman’s Dinner with the great Kerry O’Keefe at the Robertson Bowling Club on Saturday October 27th. Kerry is a former Australian Test Player and in recent years has proven to be one of the funniest guys in the game with his great and often eccentric commentary on ABC Radio and MMM radio, and will be working for Fox Sports Cricket this summer. Tickets are $60 each or a table of 10 for $550 and are on sale at the Bowling Club from next week. (Ph. 48 851 306).For more info or to register please get in touch with Aaron on 0421 452 167 or at [email protected], or you can register directly at PlayCricket.com.au.
