Principals Report P&C soup success – Wow, I have a huge amount of thanks to offer to our P&C for their efforts in planning, and running a successful soup and cupcake stall at the Friendly Inn on Saturday. Our stall added great value to a fantastic community event. Thank you to all our soup cooks, cupcake and brownie bakers, and servers for your time and effort. Thank you to those who came to the rescue with camp stoves to heat the soups once we realised our school BBQ wasn’t quite ‘cooking with gas’ as well as we wanted it to. Thank you to Pete and his staff at the Friendly Inn for supporting this event. Cupcakes at the canteen – This Thursday we will be selling cupcakes at the canteen. 50 cents each, what a delicious bargain. ScopeIT coding complete – This week sees our coding classes finish with ScopeIT. Our students have enjoyed the experience of collaborative learning and the mathematical concepts involved via the use of Scratch software. Thank you again to our P&C and the school for co funding this program which equates to around $40 per child for the 5 week (double lesson) program. Debating Success – Our two debating teams got off to a great start in the Premier’s Debating Challenge last Thursday with the K.V Wombats and the K.V Kangaroos winning their debates against Nowra Public School. The K.V Wombats successfully debated that Arts and Music in schools should be replaced by more Maths and Science and the K.V Kangaroos successfully debated that Students should not be given feedback over grades and marks. Our adjudicator gave all the teams great feedback to take forward into the next round of debates. This Friday we will travel to Illaroo Rd Public School for our second round of debating. Good luck teams. C.R.E.A.T.E Workshop – This Friday Jillian O’Dowd will be presenting her C.R.E.A.T.E workshop (Confidently, Respect, Evolve, Act, Testify, Engage). We have been working successfully with Jillian (a local K.V resident) as part of our whole school wellbeing strategy – Connect, Succeed, Thrive – for a couple of years now. All students are asked to ‘create’ something unique on their own to bring on the day. These creations can range from a craft work, live or food produce, a tool, a piece of art visual or live performance, a written story, poem, play, film, lyric or song or a piece of furniture! There is no right or wrong in this assignment - just an effort to create something unique to bring to the workshop, as mentioned in the note that went home last week. Payment of $7 per child is covered if your incursion/excursion fee has been paid, or if you have not, made via the school website (POP – Make a payment tab) or cash at the school office. Premier’s Multicultural Public Speaking Competition – This week sees our students presenting their public speeches they have been working with their peers and teachers. By the end of the week we will have two Stage 2 and two Stage 3 students representing the school at Bowral Public School next Friday 22nd June. Andrew Smee - Principal

Hi All,As you may or may not know, the pre-cooked meals that we sell in the canteen are all made by volunteers, and I’m looking for some new regular helpers. They are simple recipes, we have all the ingredients on site, and I usually give you 1-2 weeks notice so you can fit it in to your schedule. By making them ourselves they are healthier and nicer than store bought frozen foods, and all profits from the canteen go back to the school. If you can give an hour or so of your time once or twice a term to cook, please contact me on 0413413072 or [email protected], Jonathan Steele
