memberships) who are over eighteen years of age. However, if a film has already been rated by CPBC (like Sex After Kids, No Clue and Finding Vivian Maier) or we apply for a special one-time rating (As with Oil Sands Karaoke, Cas & Dylan and If I Had Wings) then we are able to screen those films to whatever audience the rating allows. We still, however, encourage patrons to buy memberships to help support our efforts.
tIcKEt sELLErsMovieMart has always been the main ticket seller for the Kamloops Film Festival. It is close to the Paramount Theatre and is a place where film lovers go to rent movies, so it just makes perfect sense. As well, owner Denis Walsh was a long-time member of both the Kamloops Film Society and the KFF Committee. In recent years we have branched out and formed a partnership with the Thompson Rivers university Student
union(TRuSu) and Bookland. TRuSu buys tickets from us at $8 and sells them to TRu students for $5 to encourage younger audiences to attend challenging cinema. The Student upass also acts as a KFS Membership card so students do not have to purchase theirs at the door. For the last couple of year, we have partnered with Bookland to have a stronger presence on the North Shore, but unfortunately, Bookland has decided not to sell our tickets this year. Since the vast majority are sold at MovieMart anyway, the Paramount can now sell single tickets, and we are currently pursuing an online sales option, we have not replaced Bookland. We are very thankful to our ticket selling partners (past and present) for all of the extra work that their staff put in for the festival. On top of the fee we pay for each ticket sold, we give each staff member a thank you letter and a couple of vouchers to the festival as a small token of our appreciation.
