Our school is doing its very best to take every precautionary measure to keep our school community safe. I would like to thank all parents for your support, understanding and cooperation. We will continue to update you with new guidelines and practices. In the meantime, we remind everyone to take normal preventative actions such as washing your hands frequently, observing good hygiene practices and staying home if you are feeling unwell. Our new IEYC Units of Learning will commence this coming week. Pre-K2 NewsThe Koalas children are enjoying listening to Traditional Stories. They have been exposed to many different ways of telling the same story such as puppets, masks, story apron, costumes, flannel board, CD and tape and songs. The conversations have been wonderful to hear as the children exchange their ideas eagerly with their friends. Using creative techniques with literature will increase the excitement and joy of story time for your child. Here are some suggestions you may want to try with your child at home.

Pre-K1 NewsWe would like to welcome WANG Yongsheng (Robin), SANDEEP Krithi and their families to Pre-K1 Bunnies. Yongsheng (Robin) is from China and Krithi is from India. The other children in the class have been busy showing their new friends the classroom routines. Leading up to our Book Week in February, the Bunnies were exposed to different Nursery Rhymes. These include Humpty Dumpty, Eency Wincy, Jack and Jill, Old MacDonald Had A Farm, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Baa Baa Black Sheep and Hey Diddle Diddle. The children had many opportunities to recite the Nursery Rhymes using props and puppets. At the Art Centre, they have been busy making Nursery Rhymes related craft, both in groups and independently, e.g. masks, puppets, props and a Nursery Rhyme wall mural. The photographs give you a glimpse the children’s participation in the Nursery Rhyme related activities.

The K1 children have been looking at different celebrations. In particular, we have been focusing on Chinese New Year. The children took part in various art activities, including painting cherry blossom, making dragons and creating Year of the Rat lanterns. The children have enjoyed looking through books related to Chinese New Year and also learning different songs.

K2 NewsK2 children had such a fun-filled morning on their recent excursion to Changi Airport. As part of their Entry Point, they began their new IEYC Unit of Learning, ‘From A To B’, by visiting the Airport in Singapore. The children were eager to begin exploring at Terminal 1, where they made their way to the aeroplane viewing gallery – watching the planes getting ready to take off down the runway. The children were also excited to ride on the sky train – spotting different types of transport and the Changi Jewel waterfall along the way. At Terminal 2, the children took the escalators down to the MRT station, discussing the signs and maps they could see. On their arrival at Terminal 3, the children discovered that lots of walking is also a simple but effective way to get from A to B! The children were beautifully behaved throughout the trip and we thank the parents for their assistance in making the excursion possible. In addition to our visit to the airport, the children enjoyed a wonderful presentation by our very own Grade 4 Teacher, Mr Williams, who recently went on an incredible journey to Mount Everest Base Camp. Mr Williams shared his adventure with the children – showing them the clothes and equipment he needed for his journey through the Himalayas. He shared photographs and videos of the sights, sounds and transport he saw along his journey – including yaks, donkeys, bicycles and tiny aeroplanes. The children showed great interest in the epic journey and later asked thoughtful questions, such as, “What did you do when your toothpaste became frozen?!”. A great beginning to our new, exciting unit this Semester!
