Today’s Outcomes

» Deciding on the most important material to bring back to your site.

» Deciding how you will bring items back to staff at your site.

» Creating an action plan for the 2014-2015 school year.

Louisiana Believes

To meet these raised expectations, we must clarify our focus on what our students need. Specifically, we must ensure this year that our students…

English language arts•Comprehend (access) meaningful, on level texts •Speak and write in response to meaningful texts

Math students •Master math concepts of priority, on level content and practice standards (not just procedures) •Master targeted remedial content that allows practice faster focus of on level content

Remediation Overview

» Many ideas for remediation have been presented today.

» How will you use the Math guidebooks to help with remediation? How will this fit with your curriculum for 2014-2015?

» How will ELA remediation fit with the guidebooks or your curriculum for 2014-2015?

Testing Schedule

» What are some specific thing that teachers should be aware of with our testing schedule for next year?

Brainstorm

» Think of everything that you have learned at the summit. Take a few minutes and list all of these on the graphic organizer provided.

Stand Up, Hand Up, Pair Up

» Teacher says “Stand up, hand up, pair up!”

» Students: stand up with one hand in air until you find the closest partner who is not your teammate.

» Teacher asks a question or gives an assignment.

» Teacher provides “think time”.

Your Big 3

»Discuss with your partner what are 3 things that you would like to bring back to your site first?

Prioritize Graphic Organizer

»Your big three should be numbered 1.

»You should prioritize the rest of this list with an even number of 2 and 3.

Grade Level Meetings

These meetings are done once a week during teacher’s planning time. These meetings are mostly used as Professional Development.

Personal Learning Communities

We have one hour PLC meetings once a week. We do not conduct PD in these meetings but many times the information presented here helps teachers in planning and understanding their data.

Faculty Meetings

We have worked to transform our faculty meetings this year to PD meetings. Most of the other stuff can be sent in an email so this is a great time to meet with the entire staff.

In-Service Days

These are great days that your entire staff can meet or even collaborate with another school.

Technology

You can use Blackboard, Edmodo, or even email. You can easily create a video or PowerPoint for staff to receive new information.

Rally Table

» Teacher announces the topic.

» Teacher gives you “think time”.

» In pairs, Partner A writes an answer to the topic then passes paper and pencil to Partner B.

» Partner B writes and answer and passes it back to Partner A.

» Steps 3 & 4 continue until the teacher calls “time”.

» Pairs compare their list with other team pair.

Topic

»What are some ways that you can redeliver at your site?

Rally Table

»Is there a new way that you could create at your site? What could that look like?

Gantt Chart

»When will you redeliver all of the information that you have learned?

»Your number ones should be delivered in the first four weeks of school.

»Numbers 2 and 3 should be delivered throughout the year.

Round Robin Discussion

»When will you deliver your information?

»Does the timeline make sense and is it doable.

Thank you for coming!
