It is diffi cult to routinely achieve an optimum level of dentin moisture prior to the application of an adhesive. Over-wet or over-dry dentin can lead to insuffi cient sealing, resulting in micro leakage and post-operative sensitivity. prime&bond® one ETCH & RINSE is a technique tolerant solution, providing high bond strength and reliable performance even on over-wet and over-dry dentin.

Literature often recommends the use of a self-etch adhesive in cavities with a large proportion of exposed dentin in order to minimise the risk of post-operative sensitivity. Phosphoric etching of dentin is believed to increase the risk of post-operative sensitivity. For cavities with a high proportion of exposed dentin, self-etch may be the bonding technique of choice.
