THE PAMA JOURNAL
Don’t be afraid to take a big step if one is
indicated. You can’t cross a chasm in two
jumps.
David Lloyd George
Indomitable spirit is that part of a person which
makes them unique, that part of a person which
provides hope, strength and courage to get up
and face each day with a smile. Indomitable
spirit is perseverance on a long term basis.
The word indomitable means "unconquerable,"
or impossible to defeat or frighten. The "spirit"
is the person's core being, their will power,
cheerful & positive attitude, and desire to
succeed. Having an "indomitable spirit" means
that your fortitude, enthusiasm, and moral
character are never diminished regardless of
the hardships and adversities you face. Your
determination to prevail is never vanquished,
even in the face of what appears to be
insurmountable odds, or seemingly
overwhelming opponents.
This concept is reflected in the following
popular saying:
"It is not so much
the size of the dog
in the fight, as the
size of the fight in
the dog."

Denver Colorado 2-Day Systema Seminar with

From Wikipedia Systema (Система, literally meaning The System) is a Russian
martial art.Training includes, but is not limited to: hand-to-hand
combat, grappling, knife fighting, and firearms training.
Training involves drills and sparring without set kata. In
Systema, the body has to be free of tensions, filled with
endurance, flexibility, effortless movement, and explosive
potential; the "spirit" or psychological state has to be calm, free
of anger, irritation, fear, self-pity, delusion, and pride. It focuses
on breathing, relaxation, and fluidity of movement, as well as
utilizing an attacker's momentum against him and controlling
the six body levers (elbows, neck, knees, waist, ankles, and
shoulders) through pressure point application, striking, and
weapon applications. As a discipline, it is becoming more and
more popular among police and security forces and it is taught
by several practitioners inside and outside of Russia.

GOOD STUFF
1001 Ways to Confidence
When you feel insecure, ask yourself the following questions: What have I learned from my life experiences? What are my strong points as a person? What talents do I
have? What skills have I
developed? What do I enjoy
doing? Then ask yourself how you can build on these positive elements.

지금 Word of the Month 오늘
Jonglee means LINE UP.
Every word in Korean starts with a consonant
and has a vowel; however, the location of the vowel can change in relation to the first
consonant depending on which vowel is
used. For example; "ㅇ" is a consonant which
is silent and has no voiced sound in the initial
position and "ㅣ" is a vowel which sounds like
the i in machine. Because the long axis of the
vowel "ㅣ" is up and down it is placed on the
right side of the consonant like this "이" so
this syllable sounds like ee as in Lee, the first
letter is silent and the second letter sounds like
the i in machine. Other vowels like "ㅡ", which sounds like the oo in good have a long
axis that runs from side to side; therefore, they are placed underneath the initial consonant like
this "으" so this syllable will sound like the oo
from good.
Each month we will focus on a new word and give you a little
insight into the Korean language.
The words on either side of the
heading are ‘Now” and ‘today’.
Look for a seminar being held at PAMA August 22 at 9:30 AM by this company! We should all be
informed about what we are putting on our fork!

14 Household Uses for
Coconut Oil By Victoria Pitcher
Discover the versatile properties of this
tropical wonder fruit.
Coconut can combat influenza viruses, fight
bacteria that cause cavities, expel lice,
improve digestion, reduce inflammation…the list goes on. Hailed as the “tree of life,” coconut’s health benefits are
many, but it is coconut oil that stars in many practical
uses. From a stain remover for fabrics to a preshave balm,
try these 14 handy household uses for coconut oil.
Coconut Oil Uses
1. Chef’s Secret: You can up the health ante of many
dishes by replacing vegetable oil with coconut oil. Use it
in stir-fries, brownie recipes, pie crusts or even fry with it.
2. Hair Helper: For a rich hair treatment, combine 2
tablespoons each melted coconut oil and raw honey with 1 large egg yolk. Whisk together and apply to dry hair,
covering completely. Let sit as long as you can. (To kill
time, queue up a movie or tackle a closet cleanout
project.) Rinse with warm water when ready.
3. Coconut Kiss: To make a soothing lip balm, melt 4 tablespoons grated beeswax and 2 tablespoons coconut oil
in a glass bowl over simmering water, stirring frequently.
Once melted, remove container from heat and add 5 to 10
drops of an essential oil of your choice. Pour into a tin and
apply to lips once cool and solidified.
4. Well-Seasoned: To season a cast-iron pan, coat liberally with coconut oil. Put the pan in a cool oven and
turn it to 300 degrees. Leave in oven for 30 minutes after
it reaches set temperature. Let pan cool in oven after
turning it off.
5. Face Freshener: Wash
your face with oil—yes, really! Coconut oil works
wonders on the skin and
can help draw out dirt, oil and other toxins. To use,
mix 2 teaspoons coconut
oil with 1 teaspoon castor oil (use more coconut oil
for dry skin; less for oily
skin). Massage into skin
and apply in a warm, wet washcloth to your face until it cools. Wipe away and
repeat if necessary.
6. Odor Eliminator: For an easy-to-make homemade deodorant, mix 1⁄4 cup baking soda with 1⁄4 cup
cornstarch. Add 6 tablespoons coconut oil and mix in
with a fork. Store deodorant in a small glass jar.
7. Stain Remover: Mix one part coconut oil with one
part baking soda for a natural stain remover for
upholstery and carpets. Apply to stain and let sit for a
few minutes before wiping away.
8. Coconut Cream: For a simple, nourishing whipped
body lotion, put 1 cup of solid
coconut oil and a few drops of an essential oil of your choice
into a mixing bowl. Mix on
high until soft and feathery.
Store in a container with a tight
-fitting lid.
9. Furniture Polish: To make wood furniture really shine,
combine 1⁄4 cup melted
coconut oil, 4 tablespoons distilled white vinegar and 2 teaspoons lemon juice in a
reusable spray bottle and shake well. To use, spray on
wood furniture and wipe away with a clean cloth.
10. Insect Repellent: Naturally repel insects with a
mixture of 8 ounces coconut oil and 40 to 50 drops
peppermint essential oil. Apply to skin and enjoy pest-
free outdoor living.
11. Smile Brightener: For cleaner, whiter teeth, try oil pulling. Swish coconut oil around in your mouth for 15
to 20 minutes, four or five times a week. Spit out the oil
into a trash can (do not swallow or flush oil down the
drain) and rinse with water.
12. Smooth Shave: For silky smooth legs, simply rub
coconut oil on skin before shaving. You can also use it
after shaving for extra protection.
13. DIY Dentifrice: Making your own toothpaste is incredibly easy and better for you than store-bought
versions. Mix 6 tablespoons coconut oil, 6 tablespoons
baking soda and 25 drops peppermint essential oil (look
for 100 percent pure peppermint oil). Store in a glass
container with a lid.
14. Gum Grabber: Coconut oil works just as effectively as peanut butter in removing chewing gum
from hair. Apply oil to gum and let sit for a couple of
minutes before removing it.

LOOKING FOR THE CALENDAR?
This isn’t it. Well, it is, but it isn’t the
one I bet you were
looking for.
Exciting news! The
new website is up
and running and the calendar there is so
much more
accurate (that’s where I always got
my data anyway),
and the website is so much easier to navigate now. So if
you haven’t taken the leap yet, go check it out.
You’ll find class schedules, curriculum helps, instructor
bios, as well as the “Golden Schedule” as Master Luft calls it. If it’s on there, it’s right. Or he’ll see that it gets
fixed. So go to the website, check it out and let us know
what you think.
Now, what should we do with this extra page we have?
For now I can put some of my cool stuff I find when I’m
supposed to be writing, but really I’m wandering around
the internet.
I can post cool Dr. Seuss sayings—hey did you hear they
found another book he’d started before he died? It’ll be
out in a little bit. “What Pet Should I Get?” (I think.)
What would YOU like to see on this ‘found’ page? If I
don’t get any ideas, I just may reinstate my column of
aimless wanderings. No one would want that on a
regular basis.
