Yoga and Mindfulness to Enrich Learning - Yoga and

Mindfulness creates a space within a person in which his/her

own voice, curiosity, and imagination can come through.

Teacher: Dori Nelson

Dance - Not only do brains need academic exercise, but they

also need creative exercise! Dance is a great way to enhance

creativity skills while exercising and learning!

9 - 12Music Technology- This session will supplement

traditional music classes and lessons by introducing

students to various software platforms and

technologies. Students will engage with music notation

software, digital audio workstations, music on iPads,

music video editing, and finally web design to create an

electronic portfolio.

Entering the Conversation: Writing Workshop - In this

session, students create a Writer's Notebook as a place

to develop the whispering of imagination. Students will

create poetry and prose, engage in conversation about

writing, and develop their voice as creative writers.

Additional $1 fee.

"Writing out of Time": College Level Writing - In this

workshop, we will examine the characteristics of

effective writing in some of the great essays of all time

and practice the skills required for successful college-

level writing: strong argumentation, insightful analysis,

and thoughtful interpretation.

Game Theory - This class offers strategies for common

games such as Uno, Sorry, and other card games that

involve Math-based strategies. It should be interesting

and fun!

Kids in the Kitchen- Students will have a hands on opportunity

to learn about nutrition and kitchen safety. Students will also

gain confidence in their ability to help prep or make food with

their family. Additional $10 fee.

6 - 8Native Americans in South Dakota - Do you want to know

more about Native Americans in our state? We will explore

the traditional values of the Oceti Sakowin through language,

sacred stories and events of the past.

Summer Scribes - Summer Scribes is a creative writing

workshop that helps writers of all ability levels develop

confidence in their composition abilities. Lessons that

incorporate the arts, discussion, and self-expression will

cultivate a love for writing in the most reluctant of writers.

Using Tech Devices to Solve Problems - Kids will use

collaboration, communication, cooperation, creativity, and

critical thinking while exploring different types of technology

devices. They will construct a problem solving plan utilizing the

tech devices capabilities in their plan.

Compass Creations - Use a Mathematical Drawing compass to

create geometic designs. Use your imagination and creativity

and a few simple tools to create magnificient geometric works

modalities, students will investigate wildlife skulls, scats, and

pelts, and explore documented research on 20 wildlife

mammals of the prairie. Students will create a personal

booklet of the animals they examine, using drawings and

writings and/or spark their imaginative writing after given a

creative writing prompt. Students will practice a Reader's

Theater and create props, working on oral language,

cooperation, collaboration and confidence.

Movies with a Message - Grab your popcorn and join us as we

watch parts of a variety of movies that have a message for us.

These movies might contain funny parts we can all relate to,

some may be inspirational, and some may tackle difficult life

situations. Movies can impact us as individuals and as a

society, so we will bring out your curiosity, communication

skills, and confidence as we discuss these movies and do

activities related to them.
