MASTER’S DEGREE PROGRAMMESJYU offers high-quality, research-based master’s degree programmes in English in its fields of special expertise. International students are welcome to apply to the two-year programmes, which lead to an officially recognized Master’s degree and qualify for doctoral studies. Tuition is free for EU/EEA citizens. For other students tuition fees range from €8,000 to €12,000 annually depending on the programme. JYU offers a scholarship programme for tuition-paying students.

STUDENT LIFE, SUPPORT & SERVICESStudents of the University of Jyväskylä are in good hands. JYU offers excellent academic support services for international students in cooperation with the Student Union.

The orientation programme is designed to help new inter-national students settle in and get to know one another, the University and the city of Jyväskylä.

A student tutor is assigned to each new international student. Their task is to acquaint new students with campus life and to help them with practical study- related questions.

The friendship family

programme is a great opportunity to learn more about Finnish culture and experience the Finnish way of life outside the campus.

Language courses are arranged for international students both before and during the academic year, ranging from intensive beginners’ courses to advanced levels.

Extensive free time activities

including sports and exercise opportunities as well as music and culture events at JYU are almost limitless!

JYU is a special and culturally diverse institution. I’m impressed with the resources available to use. It’s easy to meet and get to know other students from other backgrounds around the world. The University allows one to easily interact and work with others while also learning and understanding the uniqueness of Finnish culture.

HOW TO APPLY All students from our partner universities are welcome to apply for student exchange at the University of Jyväskylä within the frame works of Erasmus+, Nordplus, ISEP, Becas Chile or the FIRST+ programme, or as part of a bilateral exchange agreement. Apply and spend a semester or two with us!
