INSTALLATION

General Information’sJuteks vinyl fl oorings are designed only for interior applications. To select the most appropriate item among Juteks range of products, you should consider the traffi c of the areas intended for installation. Softer vinyl fl ooring is not suitable for areas under great loads, especially those subjected to heavy traffi c of casters and wheels (of offi ce chairs, for example). Before installation always check products to ensure correct type, design and colour. At the same time carefully inspect the material for any visible damages and defects. Anyway that Juteks fl ooring are inspected before leaving factory, it can happened that defects are not detected. In such case, contact Juteks distributor for assistance.

NOTE: Juteks will not pay labour charges on claims fi led for materials installed with obvious visible defects.

Storage and HandlingJuteks products must be stored in interior locations, protected from the weather. Storage area must be dry and without direct sunlight. Because vinyl fl ooring can become yellow, if it is exposed to exhaust from gas and oil combustion, be sure that storage area will be free of such combustion (outside and inside).Storage temperatures must be between 0°C and 30°C.Flooring products can be damaged by rough handling, that’s why handle products with care.If material is pre-cut and then stored for some time, it must be rolled around cardboard tube before installation.

InstallationSubfl oor, Juteks fl ooring and adhesive must be kept for conditioning, 24 - 48 hours prior to, during and after the installation in a room, with a temperature between 18 - 29°C and a relative humidity of 50-60%.

Before installation material must be rolled face out until ready to begin installation. However it can be pre-cut (accurately) for fi tting the room, but after that be sure to roll face out again (do not roll the material face in, until taking it into the room for installation). When material is rolled face out, be careful to not damage surface while handling such roll.

CAUTION: If pre-cut roll is stored for some time before installation, please follow Juteks instruction on www.juteks.si (Storage and Handling section).

Avoid creasing or folding of material, because it could lead to permanent crease and damage in the fl ooring surface. Do not write on the backing with an ink pen, felt tipped marker, …; if necessary use a graphite pencil only.

Be sure to fi t the fl ooring correctly and completely to the room. By fi tting, leave along walls (furniture …) approx. 2-3 mm interspace for distension. When installing material in room, be sure that all sheets are installed in printing direction (in direction in which rolls are unrolled).

If more than one roll of same colour is installed, all rolls must be from the same production series (same batch number). Juteks cannot guarantee colour repeat between different production series. It is necessary to plan the direction of fi tting the roll in order to avoid (if possible) seams in the doorway, along the main walking areas, between outlets, etc. In square rooms, it is best to lay the rolls parallel to the entrance light, while in long and narrow rooms it is better to have them installed lengthwise.

CAUTION: To ensure to have rolls from one batch, please carefully follow instructions on www.juteks.si (Roll labelling information).

For gluing vinyl fl ooring onto the subfl oor, use a suitable dispersive adhesive (follow the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions for use). Usually for applying of adhesive notched trowel is used, that’s why always check adhesive label for the proper notching, because too much adhesive can lead to indentations. Juteks recommends applying adhesive over the entire surface. For more information’s about gluing and further installation please follow instructions on www.juteks.si.

Floor heating systemPrior to the installation of vinyl sheet fl ooring, it is important to ascertain and enable a correct and optimal operation of any fl oor heating systems. Floor heating must be switched off for 48 hours before and 48 hours after the installation of vinyl fl ooring. During this time, it is necessary to provide alternative heating in order to ensure a temperature between 18°C and 29°C. After that, the temperature should be raised gradually, a few degrees per day, until it reaches the preferred level. The temperature at the subfl oor level should never exceed 27°C. The thermal resistance of vinyl fl ooring affects the temperature level of the heating medium. To ensure a suffi cient transmission of warmth, you should select fl ooring with a thermal resistance below 0,10 m2 K/W. Otherwise you would have to set the temperature of the heating medium too high to achieve the appropriate transmission of heat.

NOTE: Thermal resistance of Juteks fl ooring varies from 0,01 m2 K/W and up to 0,04 m2 K/W.

Hot weldingWith hot welding, a vinyl rod (same type of material as the covering) and the fl oor covering material at the seam are heated to a suffi cient temperature whereby they are fused together.. It ensures a permanent seal and a longer life for the fl oorcovering. Most specifi cations make hot welding mandatory, since it prevents ingress of dirt and bacteria into seams and provides a fl oor surface which is impermeable to water. It is also recommended for areas with fl oor heating systems. However, welding will only aid maintenance of high standards of hygiene if it is executed correctly and should only be done by a trained professional.

The procedure of hot weldingInstall the fl oor covering as described in the Juteks installation method. Allow the adhesive to dry for a minimum of 48 hours before hot-welding the seams. When the adhesive has fully cured , cut a groove along the seam using a standard grooving tool ( »U« shaped cutter). The depth of the groove depends on the thickness and type of covering to be welded and the diameter of weld rod to be used, but should not extending more than two-thirds into the wearlayer thickness.

All over designs sheets, must be installed in opposite direction.

All other designs (like wood, tiles, …) sheets, must be installed in same direction.

Once the fl ooring has been grooved the seam must be cleaned free from any cutting debris. The seam is welded using standard 4mm welding cable in a suitable colour as agreed with the end-user.Because all fl oor coverings and welding cables have different compositions and react differently under heat it is always best to do a trial weld on a piece of waste fl ooring in order to set the correct temperature and welding speed. As a guide the weld gun should be set to a temperature approx. 280°C. Be careful low temperature setting, or moving too fast will result in a weak bond. A high temperature setting or moving tooslowly can scorch the seam edges

Once the seam has been welded the fi rst trim can be done. This must be done using a half-moon knife and a sledge. This allows most of the excess welding cable to be trimmed away whilst still warm. The remaining welding cable must be allowed to cool to room temperature before further trimming. Once the weld is completely cool the fi nal trimming can be done using half – moon knife without the sledge. Extra care should be taken to the angle of attack and the sharpness of the blade. This ensure a clean cut without digging into the surface of the product.Once the weld has been trimmed fl ush to the surface the job is complete.Juteks recomend hot welding for commercial and semi-commercial fl ooringInstalation should be done by a qulifi ed fl oorlayer in this type of product.

Cold weldingCold welding is used with low-traffi c and residential areas, and can be started 24 hours after the installation of vinyl sheet fl ooring.Cover the seam between two sheets of vinyl fl ooring with lightly removable adhesive tape to prevent the sealant fl uid from sticking to the surface of the vinyl fl ooring. Using a sharp blade (e.g., a utility knife), cut through the tape along the seam and fi ll it with the fl uid sealant following the instructions of the sealant manufacturer. After approximately 10 minutes, the sealant starts drying and the adhesive tape can be removed. With time, as a consequence of cleaning and normal wear, the joint between two sheets of vinyl fl ooring disappears.

NOTE: The seam cut and surrounding area must be clean, dry, and free of adhesive.

MAINTENANCE

After installation (for all Juteks fl oors)After the vinyl fl ooring has been installed, protect and do not disturb the sealed seams for at least 16 hours after seam sealer application to ensure a proper seam bond. Keep traffi c to minimum during the fi rst 48 hours, to allow the adhesive to harden. Furniture should not be placed on the fl oor until the adhesive has adequate time to dry (at least 24 hour). Always move heavy furniture and appliances with care to avoid gouging or tearing the fl oor. First, lay strips of plywood or hardboard panels on the fl oor. Then roll, “walk” or slide these items on the strips. Make sure furniture legs have large surface, nonstaining fl oor protectors. Replace small, narrow metal or dome-shaped glides with smooth, fl at glides that are in fl at contact with the fl oor. Glides should be equipped with self-adhesive felt pads to avoid scratching the surface of the fl oor. The pads should be checked periodically for grit and wear and replaced when necessary. Always place mats at outside entrances to prevent dirt, grit and soil from being tracked onto your fl oor.

NOTE:- do not use rubber-backed mats or other rubber objects on surface

because they may permanently stain your fl oor,- heat-producing appliances (refrigerators, hot air emitting devices...)

or cigarettes and matches can scorch, burn or discolour your fl oor,- do not use spiked heels on fl oor coverings, they can leave

permanent damage on surface,- vinyl fl ooring when overexposed to the sun may discolour or fade,

so draw drapes and blinds during peaks periods of strong sunlight,- in case of stubborn stains, carefully read section Maintenance in

case of stubborn stains.

Initial and regular care (detail information’s on www.juteks.si)

The necessary maintenance works include regular sweeping, vacuuming and wiping with a damp cloth, which has a grater effect than occasional scrubbing.Wipe vinyl fl ooring with a cloth dampened with a mixture of water and mild detergent. Let it dry. When water is spilt on the surface of vinyl sheet fl ooring it should be wiped off immediately, as it can damage the adhesive between the vinyl fl ooring and the subfl oor in non-welded vinyl fl ooring. When cleaning, do not use soap as it leaves a fi lm on the surface of the vinyl fl ooring causing it to lose its original lustre. There is a range of cleaning and maintenance products available that contain high-quality wax; they are especially recommended for vinyl fl ooring without the EXTRA PU GUARD protective coat. Such products provide additional surface protection and enhance the lustre and smoothness of vinyl fl ooring. Juteks recommends a consistent use of cleaning products from one manufacturer.

Periodic maintenance (detail information’s on www.juteks.si)

Periodically use a fl oor machine equipped with scrubbing brush, wet vacuuming and dry buffi ng to clean fl oor covering surface. For vinyl fl ooring without the EXTRA PU GUARD protective coat, once or twice a year or as needed, strip the fl oor polish to avoid build-up. Use a wet/dry vacuum to remove residual polish and stripping solution. Re-apply thin coat of fl oor polish and use dry buffi ng to recover gloss.

For more information’s about care and maintenance please follow instructions on www.juteks.si

Maintenance in case of stubborn stainsIn case of extremely stubborn stains, such as acids, alkalis, shoe-polish, blood, catsup, mustard, food, candy, fruit and fruit juices, grass, urine, excrement, vomit … on fl oor coverings, Juteks recommends usage of suitable pad soaked with neutral fl oor cleaner and water or cloth soaked with methylated spirit. After removing accumulated dirt, the fl oor covering should be rinsed with clean water and allowed to dry off completely.

For specifi c stains which won’t wipe up such as chewing gum, iodine, wax, oil, asphalt, tar - act immediately, carefully remove excess with a dull kitchen knife. Rub area lightly with mineral spirits, isopropyl alcohol or lighter fl uid, renew the operation if necessary. After removing stains always rinse well with clean water.
