SECOND STEP • Scroll below the first section of the Pinterest

“Settings” page to see the “Email Notifications” section and decide what kind of notifications you want to show up in your email.

THIRD STEP • Scroll down and go through the “Social Networks”

section. This is where you can choose to share your posts on Pinterest onto other social networks. Be careful, if you pin a lot of items on Pinterest, your friends on other networks may feel overwhelmed with your posts.

FOURTH STEP • This is very important. You must scroll to the bottom

of the “Settings” page and hit “Save Settings.”

FIFTH STEP • Create a board by clicking the “Boards” link in the

drop-down box in the upper right-hand corner of Pinterest (the one that has your Pinterest name at the top).

• Click on the empty board space that says “Create a Board.”

• Fill in the name of the board and a short description, and pick a category that works for your topic. You can decide if you want the board public or private. Note that you can only have three private (or secret) boards.

• Hit “Create Board” to add it to your collection.

SIXTH STEP • Try sharing or “pinning” a link by going to the top

right corner and clicking on the plus (+) symbol.

• Choose the option to “Add from a website.”

• Type or paste in the URL of the link you want to

share. Be sure to include the “http://” at the start of the link.

• The link must have a photo or graphic somewhere in

the online article: Pinterest cannot add a pin from a website without images. (If you really want to save the link, you can choose the “Upload a pin” option.)

• Click on the “Find Images” button.

• Pinterest will give you image options from the link you are sharing. Hover your mouse over the image you want to include on the website. Click on the “Pin It” button.

• Create your pin by choosing to explain the pin a little for people who see the image.

• Click the drop-down menu next to the word

“Board” (or category) and pick the topic that matches the pin. If there are no categories that match, you can create a new board.

• Once you like the board and description of your pin, click the “Pin It” button in the lower right hand corner of the box.

• If you have a link that does not have an image in

the Web page or it does not include an image you like, you can choose the “Upload a Pin.” Do make this work, you need to have an image you own on your computer.

• Once you start adding pins, you can look at your boards, search for friends and brands you want to follow, and experiment with what you like and don’t like on Pinterest. All of your options to navigate Pinterest can be found on the right-hand side of Pinterest where you see your name or in the upper-left-hand corner where you can search topics and specific words.
