Health Services Research

• We conduct health services research to

understand the best ways to improve

health, which ultimately improves lives.

• We collect data on patients and then

analyze the data to see what it tells us.

– This becomes our study’s results.

Importance of Dissemination

• Once we have results in

from a study, it’s important

to get that information out

as quickly as possible to

important, whether good or

bad.

Results Examples

• Let’s say we found that an exercise program that we developed and tested in a study helped patients lose weight but also increased risk of injury.

– The first result is positive – our goal was to help patients lose weight.

– The second result is not so positive – we don’t want patients getting hurt.

Translational Research

• Goal is to shorten the timeframe from

discovery to implementation

– Working with patients and other stakeholders

helps do this!

• We can leverage the networks and connections

our stakeholders have in their communities and

organizations to disseminate study results.
