ELIGIBILITYArtists over the age of 17, residing in the United States whose artwork is “about” food, made from food or includes a food item are encouraged to enter. Food related content might include but is not limited to such topics as world hunger, eating disorders, the food industry, or exploitation of animals. Art “made” from food could exist in its original form, or be images of food similar to Liz Hickok’s art. Images that “include” food can be as general as, but not limited to, scenes in a restaurant, grocery store or other location. Food items can be supporting elements in a composition or artwork of other content.

Exhibit organizers intend for the show to be thought provoking and respectful of sensitive social issues related to food and hunger. While at the same time that is not necessarily our focus so artwork that is light-hearted and fun is also appropriate. However, because we recognize that world hunger is a serious issue we invite participants to add an additional $5 to the entry fee that will be collected on behalf of The FEAST exhibit and donated to Harvesters Community Food Network. http://www.harvesters.org. This fee is optional and in no way affects the likelihood of acceptance or being declined.

MEDIA/SPECIFICATIONSThe competition is open to all artists working in the following media: Painting, Drawing, Printmaking, Photography, Wood, Sculpture, Ceramics, Jewelry, Glass, Fiber, and Paper. Artwork should not exceed 40” in any dimension including frame. Each artist may submit up to three entries.

LIABILITYAll reasonable care will be given to objects in the custody of the Pittsburg State University Gallery. Insurance is the responsibility of the artists. State universities in Kansas are “self insured” therefore it is not practical to provide insurance as claims are difficult to collect. With this in mind the gallery is monitored with twenty-four hour surveillance cameras and is open during school business hours only, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

PRESENTATION AND FRAMINGAll selected two-dimensional work must be securely framed with hardware, wiring in place ready to hang. No glass. Acrylic-plexiglass is acceptable. 3D work must have installation instructions. Please no oversize entries.

All images, personal account data and electronic entries will be secured and properly discarded. Any accepted work that differs from the accepted digital entry may be disqualified. Option #2Submitted 35mm slides in standard mounts (no glass). Label slides with Name, Title, Medium, Size, and Year Completed. Slides of accepted works become part of PSU The FEAST Collection. Slides not accepted will be returned if a self-addressed, stamped envelope is enclosed. Allow approximately 4 weeks for return of non-accepted slides. Any accepted work that differs from the slide may be disqualified.
