Next week we will be working on volleyball skills along with playing
some winter games. 8th grade will begin Health on Tuesday. 5th
grade will be participating in a yoga class with Kris Fulkerson on
Tuesday. They were scheduled last week, but because of the snow
day, it was cancelled. Please wash all uniforms.
Please come to our Family Yoga Night on Monday, January 29. Sign
-up sheets are in the office. The cost is $5.00 per person. Come see
what the students are doing in class and learn some beneficial yoga
techniques.
THE BAND PLAYED ON—MRS. HENRICHS
It is time to start practicing! All Concert Band students should have
their solo & should have had one practice with me to understand
the melody & tricky notes. I expect everyone to be able to play the
1st section “A” of their solo for next week’s lesson. The accompanist
schedule has been set & the plan is to start rehearsing with them on
either Tuesday, February 6th or Wednesday, February 7th. That
gives us only 2 lessons before those rehearsals start. In order to
have a positive contest experience, each student needs to be pre-
pared for every lesson so they don’t fall behind or struggle when the
accompanist comes.
Students also have our Organizational Contest music which is a bit
challenging. Practicing on that is very important as well.
We have a band parent meeting this Monday, January 22nd at 6:30
in the band room. We will be discussing many upcoming events
(Solo Contest; Picture Day; Pie Sale Results etc.) . Please come and
show your support for the Germantown Band!
“PRACTICE MAKES PROGRESS”
7th Grade ELA: Next week, we will be wrapping up our poetry unit. Our
focus will be on analyzing how a poem's form or structure contributes to its
meaning (RL 7.5). We will also continue developing our argumentative writ-
ing. We will examine how support from peers can develop and strengthen
writing and establish that the purpose and audience have been ad-
dressed. (W 7.5).
8th Grade ELA: Next week, we will continue to analyze poetry and pay
particular attention the theme of each poem and analyze its development
(RL 8.2). We will also continue to develop our argumentative writing. Stu-
dents will now work to support claims with logical reasoning and relevant
evidence, using accurate, credible sources and demonstrating an under-
standing of the topic or text. (W 8.1 B).
**Students have now set their AR goals. It is very important that
they stay motivated and read every day. Even 15 minutes can sig-
nificantly impact their ability.**
