2012 ISHLT conference events Clinical Case Session

• 3rd year for JFTC led session- • 150 abstracts submitted

– 6 selected for oral presentation– 50 selected for posters– JFTC leadership reviewed slides and worked with presenters

• Strengths– increased number and quality of papers presented

• Limitations– Limited time for discussion with 6 cases in 75 min– Posters had limited visibility due to location at conference hall

• Plans– We have discussed revising format of this popular session for next year

• Limiting number of cases vs expanding to 2 slots• Adding multidisciplinary panel of discussants ( ID, pharmacy, pathology )• Ideally present cases as unknown with interactive discussion

• Board Feedback?

Thank you

Appreciate support of ISHLT board

Without this support, the initiatives of the council could not have come to fruition.

We have received wonderful feedback from new members about the depth and breadth of opportunities available for junior members
