The Low Country Exposure is now experiencing a major transitional phase and changing its direction. Initially, the main purpose was to expose Fashion and Beauty, and we will continue in that aspect.

However, it will be exposed in many different ways. Since we now are in the 21st Century, it is in the best interest to all involved to provide service to the models and include video and photos to present to prospective clients.

We work along with professional with a wealth of knowledge in the field of fashion de-signs. They have committed to offer videos, photos, makeup and model coaching to assist models in proceeding to the next level of their career. Local models have an oppor-tunity to this service.

Low Country Exposure Seminar provided training, education and networking for those in the Fashion and Beauty Industry. Those who have previously attended our eight (8) Fashion and Beauty made it a success and have gained further exposure in the local area.We are now featuring an on-line magazine that showcase those individuals and their pro-found talents. Also, others will be introduced in the Fashion and Beauty Industry. We hope to be the reliable source for information and 2XPOS you to the nation. Thanks for your support and participation at our seminars.

Jeanette C.H.FrederickSalon Owner/Barber/Hairstylist Instructor-Educator.GreetingsThinking back to my early teen years I can still recall my dad asking me what my plans were once I graduated high school. My answer to him was” I don’t know I may join the army”. Little did I know that my dad already had a vi-sion for me, and to this day I am grateful to him for giving me that push of self-confidence and letting me know that if I believe in myself that anything is possible. My journey began at Den-mark Technical College where I received my diploma in Barbering, two years later I received my Master hair care Licensure under Barbering which allowed me to render chemical services. I then enrolled at Trident Technical College In which I received my Diploma in Cosmetology ,After working in the salon for a number of years I felt like I needed a challenge, I later ob-tained my methods of teaching certification and within a year I got a call from my cosmetology instructor that taught me .I was asked “Jeanette are you ready to work” I was so excited not only for the call I received but because I would be able to return where I once received my training to give back and help prepare future hairstylists for the real world. I am proud to say that I have been in the beauty industry for 25 years and a cosmetology instructor at Trident Technical College 16 years .I am also the Salon Owner of Bliss Hair Studio located in Summerville. Some-times we have to step out on faith. And hearing these words from my dad”you won’t know if you will succeed if you don’t try is all I needed to hear”. April 30th Bliss Hair Studio opened its doors and it’s been Blissful ever since. Bliss Hair Studio is a mutitextural salon that offers an ar-ray of services. I am very excited about my new venture with Bliss Hair Studio and look forward to many Blissful years in this Beauty industry.

I started in the middle back of my clients head making vertical partings and leaving 1 ½ inches of hair cutting at a 90degree angle. I proceeded to do the same on the opposite side. I then went back over the hair cut with the shear over comb method to make sure there were no weight lines .I then proceeded to incorporate the top with the sides and blend still holding the hair at 90 degrees so that no weight lines will be present, as I got closer to the top of the head I continued to make horizontal partings but no longer holding the hair at 90 degrees, I then started holding the hair at a 45 degree below so that the bang area would have length. I would continue to use this method until I got to the hairline, After the haircut was complete I cross checked to make sure there were no weightlines by shear over comb method and also some point cutting to add more texture, I then define her lines around her ears and side-burns, taper her nape area .My model can wear her hair with or without product. Needless to say she loved her haircut. This haircut could have been done with clippers but I chose to use the shear over comb method.

Cutting Techniques from Jeanetta“A haircut can stand alone as a salon service or as the foundation be-fore the hair is styled”Anyone that knows me would know that whenever you mention to me that you want a haircut my eyes may light up but that’s only be-cause I love what I do and if I could cut hair all day long I would. I had the pleasure of rendering a haircutting service on my model, she was actually a walk-in and asked for a trim. After our consultation and looking at pictures, what she actually wanted was a short pixie cut with some length in the bang area. My models hair was almost at her shoulders when she came in, she had medium texture and a slight wave pattern. I shampooed her hair and then proceeded to section the hair with a u part, I sectioned from crest to crest and secured the top, and below the crest is where I proceeded to create my guide.

Eat Healthy in the Summer

by. Liya D.

Summer isn’t only about tubs of ice cream, steakssizzling in the grill and chilled Colas! Look beyondthese wicked temptations and you’ll find a bountiful of fresh produce waiting to help you stay fit whenthe mercury keeps rising steadily. They will help you deal with the heat, dehydration issues as well as lack of appetite and maintain a trim, radiant look all at once. But only healthy eating won’t saveyou from summer blues alone until and unless you stick to certain guidelines. So let’s take a sneakpeek at few do’s and don’ts in addition to few nourishing foods to embrace healthy eating in summer. Rules to Eat Healthy in Summer• Drink lots of water! It’s cheap and the best way to compensate for the water loss from your body through sweats and frequent urination. Gulps of coconut water, lem-onade and thin buttermilk work wonder too! • Stay away from icy drinks! They might be your ‘go-to’ options to quench your thirst and beat the heat. But alas! The effects are short-lived and make you reach out for more within moments. Blame it all to their acidic nature and a tendency to drain your body out of excess water as well as electrolytes. • Sugary foods are a strict no-no and that include molasses and honey too. Rather, go for the summer fruits to sate your sweet cravings and sneak in some nutrients at the same time.• The less you indulge in salty foods, the better. After all, you really don’t want the inorganic salts to be trapped inside your body and abnormally increase the urge to drink water. • Fatty foods aren’t great for summer diet too! This is because the fats in burgers, pizza, fries and other junkies don’t allow the heat to be distributed evenly throughout your body. Thus, you feel inexplicably hot in no time.• Stick to a light and nourishing meal which includes lots of fresh fruits, veggies and easy-to-digest foods to ease down your digestive process and stay vibrant. But make a point to steer clear of spicy foods and heaty ingredients like garlic, shallot, hot pepper, grapefruit and pineapple.• Chalk out a routine, set a time for your regular meals and maintain it strictly to remain full for a long time. This will reduce your urge to snack on packaged treats in between meals and help you maintain a toned waistline without much exercise. In any case, nobody really likes a sweaty workout in hot summer days!

20’s Fashion on 2013By. Melinda O.

After the First World War, the life of women changed definitely and drastical changes occurred. There are several eras which were huge stepping stones in fashion and everyday life. One of them is the Jazz Ages, the twenties. This was the time when the early modernization in economy and media begun. Telephone, auto mobiles and electricity were only a few from the many changes. For many the 20’s are equal with the silent movies and they are right, since with the motion pictures, the first movie stars and icons make headlines. The major economic, social and cultural boom was visible in cloth ing too: the legs and arms became visible as women started to dress in custom made knee-high loose fitting dresses, started wearing jewelry, makeup and listened jazz and smoke. The hairstyle also became different: the boyish– bob cut was in vogue, the other element which perhaps made the whole look sexy and feminine was the finger waving. The last one was still ruling as the Second World War begun. Well many people become nostalgic about the great old glamorous times because of living high without any restriction on alcohol and cigarettes. The Roaring Ages were brought back for a few years ago and many international artists draw inspira-tion from this era. For example, Christina Aguilera built her look and fifth studio album around the Jazz Age and the 30’s-40’s music. Her music videos like the ‘Ain’t No Other Man’, ‘Candyman’ and ‘Hurt’ were like fresh air and people got a piece of the history. The style looked that worked extremely well for her, because suited pretty good the women of the 20’s and brought back the everyday people to the glamorous years. The singer was spotted almost every time at the events in flapper dresses with finger waves and the typical makeup. Another artist who embraced the style was Britney Spears, but she appeared in the role of a flapper only in a music video and in her fragrance campaign. The singer’s role in the music video was a dancer in a typical circus back to the twenties and thirties. Herappearance seems to be one of her signature looks.Teen sensation Selena Gomez appeared in a flapperlook on the cover of her album ‘When the sun goesdown’. Now let’s see how the flapper style would beimplemented in everyday matter. The Mary Jane styled shoes or mid-heel sandals and shoes can be a great accessory which also adds a little from thegold ages. If going to a wedding or prom and wantto stand out of the crowd, choose a loose fitted dress with fringes. Dark and light colors were the most common used for dresses. The flapper style can be introduced by pairing a light colored smoothly fringed top with pants or jeans. Don’t forget about jewelry and bags: long pearl necklaces and chic long chained earrings along with brooches completed the look. Everything was glamorous and feminine was worn: gloves and stockings. Nowadays the Roaring Ages got spotlight with the movie adaptation of Scott Fitzgerald’s novel entitled ‘The Great Gatsby’ which perfectly illustrated the golden ages back in time.

continue...Eat Healthy in the Summer

Nature’s Provision of Healthy Summer-Friendly Foods

Don’t give these foods a miss during summer to keep going in summer and deal with its sultry heat: • Tomatoes: The lycopene in tomatoes acts as a natural sunscreen for your skin and protects it from ugly sunburns. A mere 2½ tbsp tomato paste daily will make sure that you have a glowing skin while others are roaming around with sun-scorched reddish faces!• Zucchini: Whether you eat them steamed, grilled, baked or simply raw, a bowl of zucchini chunks will ensure that you get your share of vitamins, minerals, protein and omega-fatty acids.• Gourds: It’s time to say ‘hi’ to these boring veggies, since, gourds in all shapes and forms get digested easily and boost the water level in you. • Corn: Shield your eyes from glaring sun rays by munching on fresh sweet corn. Its antioxidants keep off most of the damaging rays from your eyes – sounds like great, natural sunglasses are waiting for you.• Watermelon: 92% of water in an average-sized watermelon cools you down when you are not drinking water.• Cucumber: It’s the ultimate zero-calorie summer delight to keep you hydrated while you are nearly baked in the Sun.• Tart cherries: Pep up your summer with a cool tart cherry drink and stay in shape by burning out the fats. A good night’s sleep is an added bonus.• Pears: The mildly fragrant, succulent chunks of pear are ideal for your supply of fibers and vitamins, without loading in excess calories.Take a note of these summer diet tips, make smart choices and eat healthy for a blooming vitality in summer.
