From the East: What is a Mason?

We often hear the question, ‘What is a Mason?’ The stock answer is easy: A good man, true to his family and his community, one who has a belief in God and a commitment to his country, a man who continu-ally strives to be better, and the rough ashlar striving to be the per-fect ashlar.

We know through the lectures and teachings of Masonry that these are some of the basic principles of the fraternity. The real question is how do we apply these principles to our everyday lives? Perhaps the best way to answer this question is to look at those Masons we most admire. In the past few years we have lost to the Grand Lodge Above, many dear friends who exemplify the principles which lead us to being a Mason. Most re-cently, WB Chuck Lippens completed his life’s journey and has joined those Masons that have gone on before him. Like the others, he will be greatly missed.

When we look for a brother to emulate and learn from, we need to look no further than WB Chuck. The light from his heart would outshine any gruff exterior he would try to portray. His love of his family and friends, his belief in God and country, and certainly his love of Masonry provide the standard we all try to follow. It’s often difficult to live the life that the fraternity teaches us to follow. By getting to know those true Masons like Chuck and those whom we have come to love and respect, we too may become the brother the fraternity wants us to be.

We cannot, without sorrow, remember all from our Masonic family who have gone on before us. Our brothers and sisters of this great fraternity give far more than we can give to it in a lifetime of service. Being a part of the Ma-sonic fraternity is a privilege that can never be understated or fully understood.

Greetings to our Masonic Family,

Our Annual Fish Fry is rapidly approaching, and on behalf of the members and officers we want to extend an invita-

tion to this most important fund raiser for our lodge. I also want to say “Thank You” in advance those who will par-

ticipate in this labor intensive event, to those who will donated funds to sustain our

lodge, and lastly to those who will attend and enjoyed a meal and fellowship. As most of

you know this is an extremely important fund raiser for the lodge, and is critical in sus-

taining ourselves. Although it’s quite an undertaking by many there are always memories

made, and stories to tell. If you missed last years, come join us this year and be part of

the experience.

Our Lodge is quite busy with degree work, check with our Officers to learn the dates and

if possible attend the meetings. Don’t forget about our Annual Tenderloin Fry on 9-17

more details will be in the next edition of the Coordinator.

We also attended IN. Grand Lodge Annual Communications recently. One of the items discussed again, Grand Lodge

will be mailing out our 2017 Dues Notices. They no longer will be mailed by me, be on the lookout for this mailing so

you can pay your dues promptly. These will begin arriving in September and are due by 12-31-16 for your 2017

dues.

For those of you using the Kroger’s Care Program the lodge appreciates your participation, we are seeing the repeat-

ed financial rewards. We have several new members who recently bought cards and are using them. We also have

our faithful card users who continue to use the program. If you’re not participating in the program, please give it a

try. I’ll assist you in getting a card and explaining the process so you too can assist Bridgeport Lodge . We have sev-

eral new eager members at our Lodge, on behalf of all the officers and members we welcome you and encourage

you to attend our meetings and events.

On a sadden note we lost WB “Chuck” Lippens on 4-14-2016. With the loss of any of our Brothers, as a fraternity we

are all heart stricken. I wanted to say how much I appreciated all the extra things Chuck did for our Lodge without

asking for, or accepting recognition

for all he did. God Bless his family

during this difficult time with their

grieving, and the healing process.

In closing I do ask everyone to let

me know if you have an address or

phone number changes. We are

maintaining our lodge database,

accurate information is critical to

its success, and for you to receive

the lodge mailings.

O.E.S. NEWS This communication will probably be the last from Brother Tony and me as our year comes to a close. We have enjoyed this year and all of the friendships that we enjoy with our Chapter Sisters and Brothers. We have many emotions as we have said our goodbyes to several of our Chapter family. To each family and and their

friends we continue to keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Our recent passing is our dear friend Brother Chuck Lippens. To Nancy and family, we love you and pray for you in this time of change.

Overall, we have had a good year and YOU the members are the reason. We have welcomed new members and have had good memories. By now, our Friends Night has happened and everyone has enjoyed their time meeting "Elvis" and the memories of the '50s and '60s.

Next year we are looking forward to travels, as I have been asked to be District Deputy #11 for the coming year. I am honored to be asked and to have the chance to represent our chapter. I hope that you will find time to enjoy some of the travels and the year to come.

To the new officers we extend our support and wish for a most successful year. Until we meet again, may God keep you in the palm of his hand.

From the Trustees

Summer is around the corner, and we will

need new mowers to help with keeping the

grounds up! Please call Steve Cox and sign

up to mow the grass.

We are also in the process of replacing the

officer chairs in the Lodge room. The old

chairs, while ornate and possibly antiques,

are unable to be repaired due to the rotting

wood.

Look for a Silent Auction to coincide with the

Spring Pancake Breakfast where we will be

getting rid of excess items such as dishes with

the proceeds helping to pay for the new

chairs.

Hello from

#109 UD!!!

We've been

learning our

parts and

initiating 4

new mem-

bers. Right

now we have

13 members

in our bethel.

In March,

three of our

daughters,

Janice, Bri-

ana and Morgan competed in statewide

Ritual contest. Morgan brought home third

place in First Messenger. Way to go! Our

Honored Queen, Samantha, held a birth-

day party and asked that gifts be donated

to Sheltering Wings. What a wonderful

service project for our area. We are host-

ing a Cookies and Canvas fundraiser on

May 15, 2016 from 2:00-5:00 pm. Adults

are $40.00 and children (up to age 20 )

are $30.00. Come and paint and eat some desserts and help Bethel

#109 raise funds to help purchase new robes & help us go to Grand

Session. Our Grand Session is June 24-26, 2016 in Columbus. We're

excited to attend and to partici-

pate in the contests they have.
