Sign of the Times, No more Fines!

Love your library, but not the late fines? We understand life happens, and that it canbe difficult to return items on time to the library. Late fees can add up and visiting thelibrary can start to feel like a burden, especially on your wallet. That’s why we’reexcited to announce that Lyon Township Public Library is saying farewell to fines! Beginning June 1, 2019, fines will be a thing of the past. You’ll also have a fresh startas all past late fines on LTPL materials will be waived. Cardholders who wereprohibited from checking out materials due to unpaid late fines will once again be ableto check out. Click here for more information.

Congresswoman Haley Stevens Pop-Up Office in Lyon TownshipLyon Township Public Library

Monday, June 24, 2019, 9:00AM – 5:00PM

Congresswoman Stevens’ office is coming to Lyon Township Public Library to assistconstituents having issues with federal agencies. The office will arrange temporarypop-up offices all over Michigan's 11th district, to be as accessible as possible to allher constituents. If you are having issues related to immigration, the Internal RevenueService, Medicare, the Social Security Administration, or Veterans Affairs, please stopby to chat with her team to see how they may be of assistance.

LTPL Seed Library

Calling All Gardeners! The LTPL Seed Library is full of new seeds and is open forbusiness! Filled with donations from local seed savers and seed companies, the SeedLibrary has seeds for all kinds of vegetables, herbs, and flowers.

All seeds are free, and all we ask is that you take only what you can use and try tosave seeds from your crops to donate back to the library. You will need to fill out aregistration form the first time you use the Seed Library, and write down on theclipboard what seeds you take whenever you visit. LTPL also has a huge selection ofgardening books to get you started when Spring finally makes a comeback!

Homefit: Staying in your House as you AgeJune 6, 6:30 pm

Please join us as Sandy Thom, a licensed occupational therapist and AARPvolunteer, will provide seniors and their loved ones with the resources necessary tohelp them safely remain in their own homes as they age. This program will helpattendees think about their current homes from the perspective of accessibility andlivability.

Michigan Wildlife with Red Oaks Nature CenterJune 19, 2:00 & 3:15 pm

Learn about some of the coolest critters that call our state home including foxes,coyotes, owls, and more! Naturalists from the Red Oaks Nature Center will be hereoffering 45-minute hands-on presentations introducing us to live animals as wellas taxidermy, pelts, and skulls! Star Wars Day @ LTPLJune 22

Puzzle solvers of all ages are invited to do your best to ESCAPE THE DEATH STARas a team of up to five (let us know if you have additional young jedis who want tocome too). No previous Star Wars knowledge required. Open to families, teens, andadults.

Your team has been captured by Darth Vader. He suspects that your team are Rebelspies (which you are). He has brought you to the Death Star. The jail cells are full, sothey have locked you in a Storage/Repair Closet. You must ESCAPE before theymove you to the detention level where Security is much greater. --- May the FORCEbe with you!!

Be sure to have your whole group register for the same room (A or B) at the sametime slot. Depending on level of interest, teams may be allowed to register for bothrooms during different time slots if space allows. Click here to register.

We've got Oakland County Parks and Recreation Mobile Recreation coming out withsome awesome inflatables, so stop by the library and have some fun! Weather permitting, we'll have three big inflatables: A 625 square foot InflatableBouncer, An Inflatable Tropical Maze, and Dudley the Dino Inflatable Slide. Socksare required to bounce, so be sure to wear or bring some!!

The class focuses on the power of Qigong for health, self-healing and longevity. An excellent way to manage stress, find balance and inner-harmony. Each class ends with a guided meditation. Classes are free, and taught byDavid Tharp, a certified Qigong Teacher.
