GOD, THE LORD OF THE LIVING AND THE DEAD, DESIRES US TO HAVE LIFE AND LIVE IT TO THE FULLEST
God’s power is revealed in many ways. Today’s readings reflect this power in life-changing ways. In two instances, life is restored. In another, a life is literally changed. God desires us to have life. Are we taking advantage of this gift from God and living it to the fullest?
LITURGY OF THE WORD: The first reading tells of how the prophet Elijah restored the life of the dead son of the widow of Zaraphath. Paul recounts how his life is changed and renewed by his first encounter with the Risen Christ. In the Gospel, Jesus demonstrates His great power over life and death by restoring to life the son of the widow of Nain.

CARD FROM FR. GERRY CONLAN OMI: “Dear Fr. Bill, Parish Council and Parishioners: Thank you is too little to express my appreciation and that of the whole Kenya Mission. Your encouragement and the generosity of so may parishioners is a great blessing for us and for the people we serve. I pray that the relationship and journey with our Mission will also enrich and bless you all. May God protect and guide you all, Fr. Gerry Conlan OMI”
CONGRATULATIONS & THANK YOU! Congratulations to Marek Achadinha, Ranan Anderea, Rand Anderea, Sophie Bechard, Amelie Cabrita, Daniela Cota, Marco Cvitanovic, Vernice Dillera, Paul Eades, Mary Jaggs, Brianne McLeish, Jack Prosalendis, Juliet Prosalendis, Leo Prosalendis, Dana Puli, Lauren Rust, Robert Shirley, Brandon Smith, Chance Startek, Jacob Startek, Thomas Startek, Trinity Startek, Andrew Vining, Riley Walsh and Ethan Wharton! These children received the sacraments of Confirmation and First Holy Communion on Sunday June 2, 2013 at St. Patrick’s Parish. A big thank you to the St. Patrick’s CWL and Mrs. Kimak’s St. Patrick’s School Rosary Club for the beautiful hand-made rosaries that the children received in honor of this special occasion. Thank you also to the following: to the Flower team at St. Patrick’s for the beautiful flowers; to Mrs. Elliot, Mrs. Parkes, Ms. Seu and the school choir for your service as Eucharistic ministers and the beautiful music; to the PAC and parents for providing for the reception following the Mass; to Mau-reen Doyle and all the parents who helped to teach the lessons; and finally to Domingo, Heidi, and Fr. Bill MacDonald from the church for all your support and prayers. We were truly blessed to have Bishop Richard Gagnon celebrate this special Mass. BOUQUET OF THANKS: The Catholic Women’s League is so grateful to Marie and Cecilia Bourgeois and their AMAZING Good Used Clothing Team. We are pleased to report that the proceeds are $3,320.25 and these monies support our charities and missions. Thank you to Father Bill, Heidi and Domingo, parishioners and friends, St. Patrick’s School who made this sale so successful. Our Advertising Team did a blitz to create a very well attended sale. THANKS TO ALL FOR YOUR DONATIONS.
NEWS FROM ST. PATRICK’S SCHOOL: This past week St. Patrick’s School has been filled with many activities and excitement. We started the week, celebrating mass with our students who received the sacraments of First Com-munion and/or Confirmation at St. Patrick’s Parish. On Monday, we were privileged to have three St. Andrew’s Regional High School track students (former St. Patrick’s students, who received medals at the recently held BC High School Track and Field Meet) attend our assembly and hand out the BC Elementary School Track and Field awards to our suc-cessful athletes. At this time, we would like to thank Father Bill MacDonald for his ongoing support of St. Patrick’s School. We wish him a safe and happy summer holiday!
OAK BAY EMERGENCY PROGRAM (OBEP) – TSUNAMIS IN OAK BAY: June 18, 7pm to 9pm, Windsor Park Pavilion (2451 Windsor Road). Tsunami is a hazard that we don’t talk about often, but the Japanese earthquake in 2011 changed all that. Do you know how you will likely be affected if there is a tsunami warning for the Oak Bay coastline? Do you know what to do? See the new tsunami inundation (flood area) map for Oak Bay, walk through the research used to build the map and hear about how it affects you and what you can do to be safe. The presentation is FREE; however, we ask you to pre-register to guarantee your seat. To register call 250.592.9121 or e-mail [email protected]
