SURFSIDE DEPUTY REPORT

DEPUTY T. OSTGAARD

MAY 26th

, 2016 – JUNE 1st, 2016

On 05/26 I was dispatched to an alarm in the 32200 block of T St. for an alarm call. I contacted the neighbor who is watching the residence and she stated that a real estate agent had set off the alarm.

On 05/26 I was on patrol when I observed a garage door open in the 30300 block of M Pl. I did not observe anyone around and had not seen anyone at the house recently. As I was pulling in to check on the garage the owner pulled in and stated he was down for the weekend.

On 05/27 there was a report of a burglary to a travel trailer in the 30500 block of M Pl. I contacted the trailer owner and he stated that the suspect(s) had entered the trailer through a side hatch that was behind the couch. The items stolen included a mini fridge, camp chairs, silverware and some other miscellaneous items.

On 05/29 there was a report of a missing phone from the beach. The reporting party was on 338th Pl. and stat-ed his phone was pinging to Vancouver, WA.

On 05/29 there was a report of fireworks in the 33800 block of G St. The subjects lighting fireworks stopped lighting them.

On 05/29 there was a report of loud music on I Pl. North of Oysterville Rd. The reporting party stated that there was a campfire and the music was very loud.

On 05/31 I was on patrol when I observed a subject I know to have a felony warrant and a suspended driver’s license. The suspect was driving on M Pl. and when I tried to pull him over he took off. I followed the subject down to 282nd and L St. where he eventually went up a private driveway and over a 30 foot embankment and wrecked his car. He then got out and ran. I chased the subject on foot to the beach where he was taken in to custody with the as-sistance of a State Trooper. I booked the suspect for eluding a police vehicle, driving with a suspended license and for his felony warrant.

On 05/31 I was dispatched to the 30700 block of J Pl. for a welfare check. The female subject was fine.

On 05/31 I was dispatched to the 30300 block of M Pl. for a loud music complaint. When I arrived there was no music playing.

Pacific County

Emergency Notification System

Effective September 1, 2013, Pacific County transitioned to a new

emergency notification system. The new system has the ability to

contact you regarding via home phone, cellular phone, text message,

email, and/or TDD. This system may be used by emergency re-

sponse personnel to notify specific homes and businesses at risk

with information about a disaster or emergency event. You will only

be called when the associated address will be impacted by the event.

If you registered your cellular or VoIP phone number prior to Sep-

tember 1, 2013, you are encouraged to re-register and landline users

are encouraged to update their information. The new system can be

personalized based on your needs and the type of notifications you

wish to receive.

Follow the link below to add your cell phone number to the

notification system:

https://secure.hyper-reach.com/comsignupw.jsp?id=40685

Surfside Homeowners Association will use this

notification system to alert members to an

emergency situation.

More Board Candidate Information

We are fortunate to have eight qualified board candidates this year. In my opinion, we are lucky to have so many members stepping forward for the three open positions. No matter who wins, the results will be good.

Our association has posted the resume for each candidate on the Surfside website. Click on the link to go directly to the website, www.surfsideonline.org

Catch trout, salmon, crab during Free Fishing Weekend

Some of Washington's most popular fishing opportunities are open to anglers this month, in-cluding chinook salmon in the Columbia River, crab in portions of Puget Sound and trout in rivers throughout the state.

Sound like fun? Prospective anglers who are interested in fishing but don't have a fishing li-cense can get in on the action during Free Fishing Weekend, scheduled June 11-12.

During those two days, no license will be required to fish or gather shellfish in any waters open to fishing in Washington. In addition, no vehicle access pass or Discover Pass will be required to park that weekend at any of the 700 water-access sites maintained by the Wash-ington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW). For more information, check the depart-ment's website at http://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/free/

Of course, outdoor adventures don't begin and end with Free Fishing Weekend. Great op-portunities over the next several weeks include:

Trout: Many rivers across the state open for trout fishing June 4. Meanwhile, the lowland lakes fishing season is underway and anglers have plenty of opportunities to reel in some nice-size fish over the next several months.

Columbia River salmon: The lower Columbia River will be open to fishing for spring chi-nook salmon on a daily basis June 3-15, or until the harvest guideline is met. The extended fishery is designed to dovetail with the summer salmon season, which gets underway June 16.

Puget Sound crab: Crab fishing opens in Marine Area 13 (south Puget Sound) June 2, while marine areas 4 (Neah Bay), 5 (Sekiu), 12 (Hood Canal) and the northern section of Marine Area 9 (Admiralty Inlet) open June 16. Other areas of Puget Sound are scheduled to open in July and August.

Bird watching: June is a great month to view birds in Washington, particularly at WDFW wildlife areas east of the Cascades.

For more information about fishing and wildlife viewing opportunities available this month, see the Weekender Regional Reports posted on WDFW's website at http://wdfw.wa.gov/weekender/.

These reports are updated throughout the month to provide up-to-date information about recreational opportunities around the state.

Architectural Committee

Just a reminder if you are planning on installing a fence or a shed, a garage or a house or even doing a little

remodeling all building plans must be

submitted to the Architectural Committee prior to any construction.

The committee usually meets weekly on Tuesdays at 9 a.m., dependent upon if

there’s anything on the agenda. All applicants are encouraged to attend the meeting (if possible) to answer any questions that may arise.

The building packets are on our website at

http://www.surfsideonline.org/payment-form/

or you can pick one up from the business office.

Two (2) sets of plans must be submitted to the committee. Once approved, you will get a copy of the plans that have been stamped so you can take them to the

county for their approval.

For more detailed information on the Architectural Committee duties and guidelines

you can find them on our website www.surfsideonline.org, or call the business office

360-665-4171 with any questions.
