JUNE 2020 – CUSP CSHP/ASHP-SSHP CHAPTER NEWSLETTER
Industry Night CUSP CSHP/ASHP-SSHP hosted the 2nd annual Industry Night with invited pharmacist
speakers from pharmaceutical companies: Allergan, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Food and Drug Administration, Genentech, Gilead, Neurocrine Biosciences, Tesaro, and ViiV Healthcare. The speakers shared information about their background, training, and experience working in the pharmaceutical industry. CUSP students learned more about the challenges and multitudes of career paths within the industry. After listening to the speakers, we broke out into smaller intimate groups in which students were able to further ask the speakers individual questions. The students rotated between the speakers’ tables to converse with them on a deeper level about their specific job duties and training. Towards the end of the evening, students were able to take advantage of the social hour to interact and networked with the speakers. We hope the students became inspired and gained a better understanding about the pharmaceutical industry. A huge thank you to everyone who attended and all of the speakers for making the event a valuable and fun-filled experience!

Residency Match Panels In March and May, the CUSP CSHP/ASHP-SSHP chapter hosted two residency match
panels via Zoom with a total of 11 CUSP students who matched with residency programs in either Phase I or Phase II of the match process. The P3 students answered questions from the students and gave helpful advice to the P1 and P2 students. Additionally, they spoke about their own unique experiences, and the processes they went through to narrow down their program selection. They discussed how they prepared for the interviews and emphasized the importance of being able to answer a wide variety of questions. We want to extend a big congratulations to these outstanding P3 students!
