Why, Pastor Why
As we see you standing there behind the pulpit Reading from God’s Word
We think back to all those wonderful, blessed sermons From you that we’ve heard.
No– There is no secret why God brought you out
Oh! The many times your joy has made us shout!!!
You see, Pastor there was a reason that God saved your soul Because He knew that serving Him with all your heart
Would be your life’s goal
You see, Pastor there was a reason that it was you That God chose
Not your good looks, perfect hair, and stylish clothes No, Pastor the reason that God reached down His hand and
saved you Let there be no doubt!! The reason God chose you
Is because he knew How you would turn out!
The reason, Pastor, that you mean so much to us
Is that when we look at you It is Jesus that we see
For in your footsteps we are so grateful trod
Because we know that in following you We are following God

There was a blind girl who hated herself purely for the fact she was blind. The only person she didn’t hate was her loving boy-friend, as he was always there for her. She said that if she could only see the world, she would marry him.
One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her – now she could see every-thing, including her boyfriend. Her boyfriend asked her, “now that you can see the world, will you marry me?”
The girl was shocked when she saw that her boyfriend was blind too, and re-fused to marry him. Her boyfriend walked away in tears, and later wrote a letter to her saying: Just take care of my eyes, sweetheart”
Moral to this story: When our circumstances change, so does our mind. Some people may not see the way they were before, and may not be able to appreci-ate those ways. There may be many things to take away from this story.

A Pound of Butter (Honesty)
There was a farmer who sold a pound of butter to a baker. One day the baker decided to weigh the butter to see if he was getting the right amount, which he wasn’t . Angry about this, he took the farmer to court.
The judge asked the farmer if he was using any measure to weigh the butter. The farmer replied “Your honor, I am primitive. Idon’t have proper measure, but I do have a scale.”
The judge asked. “Then how do you weigh the butter?”
The Farmer replied; “Your Honor, long before the baker started buying butter from me, I have been buying a pound loaf of bread from him. Every day when the baker brings the bread, I put it on the scale and give him the same weight in butter. If anyone is to be blamed, it is the baker.”
Moral of story, In life you get what you give. Don’t try to cheat others.

Forgetful???? Three sisters ages 92, 94 and 96 live in a house together. One night the 96 year old went upstairs and began drawing a bath. She put her foot in and paused. She yelled down to her other sisters, "Was I getting in or out of the bath?" The 94 year old yelled back, "I don't know. I'll come up and see." She started up the stairs and paused, wondering, "Was I going up the stairs or down?" The 92 year old was sitting at the kitchen table having tea listening to her sisters, shaking her head. She mumbled to herself, "I sure hope I never get that forgetful, knock on wood." She then yelled upstairs to her sisters, "I'll come up and help both of you as soon as I see who's at the door."
Kids at Church A wife invited some people to dinner. At the table, she turned to their six-year-old daughter and said, "Would you like to say the blessing?" "I wouldn't know what to say," the girl replied. "Just say what you hear Mommy say," the wife answered. The daughter bowed her head and said, "Lord, why on earth did I invite all these people to dinner?"

This is a story about a
skinny young boy who
loved football with all his
heart. Practice after prac-
tice, he eagerly gave eve-
rything he had. But being half the size of the other boys, he got absolutely no-
where. At all the games, this hopeful athlete sat on the bench and hardly ever
played.
This teenager lived alone with his father, and the two of them had a very special
relationship. Even though the son was always on the bench, his father was al-
ways in the stands cheering. He never missed a game. This young man was still
the smallest of the class when he entered high school. But his father continued to
encourage him but also made it very clear that he did not have to play football if
he didn't want to. But the young man loved football and decided to hang in there.
He was determined to try his best at every practice, and perhaps he'd get to play
when he became a senior. All through high school he never missed a practice nor
a game, but remained a bench warmer all four years. His faithful father was al-
ways in the stands, always with words of encouragement for him.
When the young man went to college, he decided to try out for the football team
as a "walk-on". Everyone was sure he could never make the cut, but he did. The
coach admitted that he kept him on the roster because he always puts his heart
and soul to every practice, and at the same time, provided the other members
with the spirit and hustle they badly needed. The news that he had survived the
cut thrilled him so much that he rushed to the nearest phone and called his father.
His father shared his excitement and was sent season tickets for all the college
games. This persistent young athlete never missed practice during his four years
at college, but he never got to play in the game.
It was the end of his senior football season, and as he trotted onto the practice
field shortly before the big play off game, the coach met him with a telegram. The
young man read the telegram and he became deathly silent. Swallowing hard, he
mumbled to the coach, "My father died this morning Is it all right if I miss practice
today?" The coach put his arm gently around his shoulder and said, "Take the
rest of the week off, son. And don't even plan to come back to the game on Satur-
day."

Saturday arrived, and the game was not going well. In the third quarter, when the
team was ten points behind, a silent young man quietly slipped into the empty
locker room and put on his football gear. As he ran onto the sidelines, the coach
and his players were astounded to see their faithful teammate back so soon.
"Coach, please let me play. I've just got to play today." said the young man.
The coach pretended not to hear him. There was no way he want-
ed his worst player in this close playoff game. But the young man
persisted, and finally feeling sorry for the kid, the coach gave in.
"All right," he said. "You can go in".
Before long, the coach, the players and everyone in the stands
could not believe their eyes. This little unknown, who had never
played before was doing everything right. The opposing team
could not stop him. He ran, he passed, blocked and tackled like a
star. His team began to triumph. The score was soon tied. In the closing seconds
of the game, this kid intercepted a pass and ran all the way for the winning touch-
down. The fans broke loose. His teammates hoisted him onto their shoulders.
Such cheering you've never heard! Finally, after the stands had emptied and the
team had showered and left the locker room, the coach noticed that the young
man was sitting quietly in the corner all alone. The coach came to him and said,
"Kid, I can't believe it. You were fantastic! Tell me what got into you? How did you
do it?" He looked at the coach, with tears in his eyes, and said, "Well, you knew
my dad died, but did you know that my dad was blind?" The young man swal-
lowed hard and forced a smile, "Dad came to all my games, but today was the
first time he could see me play, and I wanted to show him I could do it!"
No Board or Financial Meetings until September
(unless one is urgently needed).
Summer is time off for everyone to enjoy
Life changes , kids are out of school, vacations are being planned, we have picnics and barbeques, reunions.
It is a very relaxed time of year. Life goes on at CCC. Sunday Service, Fel-
lowship time. And the excitement of getting a new Minister.
One thing that doesn’t change is the running a church, paying the utilities,
electric, gas, water, insurance, maintenance, payroll, etc. are with us like
they are with you at home. “Your church” still needs your support.
What would it be like to come to church and there is a sign that says
“CLOSED” How would we feel about what happened? What would our
first thought be? Why?
Please continue to support your church even if you can’t always be in attendance.
New things are happening here and you don’t want to miss the action , even thought we miss you.!
Mail your offering, drop it off, just be sure to remember your church this summer.
Pentecost Sunday
A look at our Sanctuary, during non-holiday season
St. John's Day is celebrated on June 24, 2018 and the official feast is
called the Nativity of St. John the Baptist. St. John's Day is the anniver-
sary of the birthday of St. John, the Baptist on June 24 and is connect-
ed to the Midsummer Day on June 21. Nearly all Christian churches
celebrate St. John's Day. It is also known as Nativity of the Forerunner.
In the shortest night of the year from June 23 to June 24 Saint John's
Eve is celebrated annually.
Around St. John's the perennial herb St. John's Wort and Yarrow
blooms.
It is a tradition to pluck some of them on St. John's Eve. Also Ribes are
ready for harvest and therefore in Germany for example, they are
named after the Saint. Fireflies are also associated with the feast of
Saint John as they glow brightest around that midsummer time.
The date for St. John's has been moved to the 24th of June because it is said that St. John the Baptist is six
months older than Jesus Christ. He was a preacher of repentance and is considered the last relevant one of
Jesus' disciples by the Christian Church. St. John is among Mary and Jesus the only person whose birthday
is a feast day - usually a saint's commemoration day is his or her death day.
Saint John the Baptist and Saint John the Evangelist are two eminent patrons of Freemasonry. There is
nothing in our history to explain how or why they were chosen as our patron saints, but there is no argu-
ment that they were the perfect choice because of the manner in which they lived and worked.
St. John the Baptist was a man of character and integrity, and someone we would all do well to emulate. In
him we have a singular instance of purity, of zeal, simplicity of manners, and an ardent wish to benefit
mankind by his example. To him we are indebted for the introduction of that grand tenet of our institu-
tion, which it is our glory to support: Peace on earth, good will toward men.
Saint John the Evangelist is considered equal to the Baptist in his zeal for the same qualities, and because
of his abilities as a speaker and writer he was enabled to spread the teachings of Saint John the Baptist to a
far broader audience.
Together, the two Saints John represent those qualities of character that all good Freemasons are to aspire
to.
