President’s Message

Welcome to summer! With the (unfortunate)

potential for any substantial rain behind us,

we now look to warm, summer days and

more Airstream adventures ahead. Where will

you roll?

Region 12 (California and Nevada) officer

voting has concluded and I’m very pleased to

announce our officers for 2015-17. Incoming

president, Tom Smithson, of the NorCal unit;

first vice president, Jim Polk of the Greater

Los Angeles Airstream Club; and second vice

president, Cecelia Stansbury of the Santa

Clara unit will be inducted into office at the

International rally in June. On behalf of the

Greater Los Angeles Airstream Club, a big

round of applause and a heartfelt thank you

to all our officers including Bob Stansbury of

the Santa Clara unit for leading our Region

over the past two years. From a personal

viewpoint, I have seen our officers in action

behind the scenes and at the International.

They work diligently to make good things

happen for both our Region and the Interna-

tional body.

I am happy to announce the GLA now has

an Event Chairperson. Our club’s secretary,

Yvonne Savage, has taken on this key role re-

sponsible for coordinating the unique events

we enjoy. There are several outstanding events

currently in the planning stage for our club.

Be sure to watch our website for updates.

Also, please direct your suggestions to Yvonne

so that she can incorporate them into the

calendar. We welcome both ‘hosted’ events (if

you wish to lead the event) and flash events

(no planning, just book your site and enjoy).

Email Yvonne at: [email protected].

Still available to fill are the roles of first and

second vice presidents. Please contact me

via email for more information at President-

[email protected].

As we move into the summer months, enjoy

the journey and travel safely. Please share

your adventures on our Facebook page and

don’t forget to put the Region 12 Rally on

your list of events to attend in October. This

year, in Minden, Nevada, we’ll experience all

Lake Tahoe and the surrounding area have to

offer. Check it out online at: region12.wbcci.

Wear your club logo with pride!

Our edgy, urban logo is available at Lands End to order any apparel you would like including hats, jackets, t-shirts, bags and more.

• Check out selection at: http://business.land-send.com• Contact Lands End at 800.338.2000• Reference GLA Logo #1360294

There is a charge of $8.50 per item to add logo,

subject to change. Occasionally you will find special offers with free logo application.

Heads up! The logo will lose it’s affect on some colors, i.e. a black or navy shirt, for instance, the palm trees disappear. Lands End is happy to work with us so that you will be happy with the final product (i.e. make the palm trees and text white.) Change up as necessary but the text and logo go hand-in-hand.

GLA on Facebook

GLA offers two informative and fun interactive experiences to GLAers who are also Facebook members.

GLA’s public Facebook page, Greater Los Angeles Airstream Clubhttps://www.facebook.com/losangelesairstream-club is accessible by anyone with a Facebook account. We use the page to inform GLA members of events and happenings as well as to share our club with the interested public. Threads are usually started by the page modera-tors Lynda Polk, GLA President, or John Barrett, Social Media Chair. Anyone, a GLA member or not, who clicks the ‘Liked’ button will become a follower of the page and can comment on posts and receive response notifications. In addition, followers can post to the page. Their comments or questions appear on the left side of the page. I would encourage GLA members to read and consider responding to those ‘public’ posts.

Additionally, we have a ‘secret’ Facebook page open to Members and Affiliates who want to have a more in-depth experience than is offered by the public page. You may start discussion threads, post pictures, video, and informative links that can be viewable only by the members of the group.

This is a completely private group that is acces-sible by you and your fellow group members. Your personal Facebook friends will not see what you post here. Access is granted by invita-tion. Group moderators can invite you by Face-book email. We invite all new GLA members. Be sure to respond to the Facebook invitation email if you are interested in participatting as Facebook does not allow us to invite someone a second time if the first invitation is pending. If you have questions about the process don’t hesitate to contact me at [email protected].

The current GLA Member Roster is available for download in the Files area of the secret Facebook group and in the password-protected Membership section of our website. We willl have a presence on Instagram soon and we’ll notify members via Facebook and the Urban Update.
