Parish groups will cook up favorites in thefood court, from Filipino meat sticks to bakedpotatoes to hot dogs to hamburgers. Liveentertainment will be presented on stage nextto the food court.

On Thursday, June 12, Rancho Los Cerritoswill present a free talk and book signing byGeraldine Knatz for her new book, LongBeach’s Los Cerritos. The book is primarily acollection of carefully researched historicphotographs and illustrations that tell thestory of the neighborhood’s development froma rural backwater to one of the most beautifulin the city. The book will be available for salethat evening, and all profits from sales will begiven to Rancho Los Cerritos. The talk willbegin at 7 p.m., and continue for about anhour. Knatz has a Ph.D. in Biological Sciencesand serves as a Professor of Practice of Policyand Engineering at the University of SouthernCalifornia. She served, previously, asExecutive Director of the Port of Los Angelesand Managing Director of the Port of Long
Beach. She is a long time resident of the LosCerritos neighborhood in Long Beach.
Rancho Los Cerritos is located at 4600Virginia Rd. in Long Beach. Built in 1844, theadobe home and grounds echo with the richhistory of Spanish, Mexican, and AmericanCalifornia and with the families who helpedtransform Southern California from itsranching beginnings to the modern, urbansociety it is today. The two-story Monterey-style adobe is primarily furnished to reflectoccupants and lifestyles from the 1860s-1880s.
The National, State and Long BeachHistoric Landmark also includes gardens anda research library and archives. The Long Beach Camerata Singers, withthe addition of a band, present a programbeyond classical on June 14 at 7:30 p.m. inthe Gerald R. Daniel Recital Hall on thecampus of California State University, LongBeach.
The popular annual Broadway-themedbenefit performance will feature Broadway onthe Radio. Artistic Director Robert Istad says
“Every song in theshow was either onthe radio in the past ortopped the Billboardcharts in its day,” Istand explains.
Singers will perform in choruses and solosfrom Broadway’s best rock ‘n roll, Top 40, andclassic hits as previously heard on the radioby the American public.
The opening act includes rock and rollfavorites like Pinball Wizard, GreasedLightning, and You Can’t Stop the Best.
New York, New York launches thesecond act of Broadway standards
and closes with a Gershwin medley.The last act features songs from the Top
40 like Don’t Stop Believin’.Preceding the concert is a reception with a
buffet dinner with wine and champagne aswell as a silent auction.
The auction will offer a wide variety ofitems including tickets to local cultural events,wine, antiques and weekend get-away
