Plans are underway to have

an Activity Day for our

grade 3-6 students on June

21st

. At different times dur-

ing the day individual

classes/grades will be taking

part in 30-60 minute ses-

sions that promote healthy

living. Some classes will

take part in sessions with

“Momentum” while other

classes will be doing sessions

in events like soccer etc. Our

grade 6 students will be

walking to the Carleton

Place High School to partic-

ipate in activities there. We

have purchased bananas

for each of our students and

all students will eat this nu-

tritious snack at the same

time.

We are planning a “Moving

on Up” event for our depart-

ing grade 6 students on

June 26th

. A lunch will be

provided for the students at

their usual lunch time of

12:05 p.m. Parents are invit-

ed to a ceremony in our

gymnasium at 1:00 p.m. at

which time the students will

receive a certificate to mark

the occasion. A dance will

be held from 1:45 p.m. to

3:15 p.m. in their honour.

The rest of the school is

planning to give them a

special send-off at the end

of the day.

Our students participated

in the area’s Track and

Field Meet a couple of weeks

back. While the weather was

miserable, our students

made the best of it and rep-

resented Arklan well in our

brand new school jerseys! A

special thanks goes out to

Mrs. Storie and Miss Murray

who helped coach the team.

I would like to thank all of

the volunteers who made

our Family Fun Night such

a success. There were hun-

dreds of smiling faces and

everyone seemed to have a

great time!

As you have probably heard

I will be retiring at the end

of the month. It has indeed

been a pleasure to work with

such a great group of stu-

dents, parents and staff

here at Arklan. Mrs. Shelley

Riddell is looking forward

to coming to our school as

your Principal next year.

Mrs. Stacie Dowdall will be

back as vice-principal to

ensure a smooth transition.

Have a great summer and I

wish all of you the best in

the future!
