Hi,

I kick off this month’s issue with a novice hurdle backing system which has impressed me. Those of you with good memories will probably be correct-ing me right now... aren’t you focusing on laying in novice hurdles, Clive? Well, yes I am, but if you fancy some decent back bets, then read on!

And while I’m on the subject of the novice hur-dles, you can read about my recent findings from the betting lab. All systems are ticking along well.

This month the Statman reveals how some of the lesser-known jockeys could be the key to your prof-its this flat season.

I take a look at two ratings which are producing a good number of solid each-way bets, placing and winning with regularity. It’s simplicity itself (as all of my betting lab ideas try to be).

The Patriarch gets in his DeLorean and fast-forwards to the new domestic football season with a look at how we can make huge gains from a new take on under 1.5 goals betting. It’s intriguing!

And, as ever, the Cash Master rounds up with

what’s hot and what’s not in the betting system and tipster marketplace.

And remember, there’s an accompanying video for each article which I hope will help clarify any of the strategies featured and take a more in-depth look at each article; you can find all this month’s videos here: www.whatreallywinsmoney.co.uk/resourcepage

I’ll see you again in August, as my boss holidays during July, in the meantime look out for the Fast Cash Compendium – a bi-annual look at some of the best opps to hit the Canonbury editorial desk in the last six months.

Horseracing Strategies

Novice Hurdle Backs and Lays

I introduced you some months back to a novice hurdle specific laying strategy which looked at

laying 3rd favourites in novice hurdles.

We layed these 3rd favourites using fixed liability staking. (When we are a layer we have two choices: we can lay a horse to lose a specific amount, or we can lay a horse to win a specific amount. With the latter choice, we have no control over the liabilities: we have to pay out if the horse wins its race!)

It’s ticking along. It will make you a long-term profit but is a slow burner.

If you’re seeking something a little speedier, then there is something you can do to potentially gener-ate some quicker profits...

Become a niche backer of 3rd favourites in novice hurdle races.

A niche what?

Niche betting is a great technique to help you

make profits from your betting activities.

With niche betting, we focus specifically on one market or scenario, and we bet accordingly in that market.

And I think I have uncovered a rather exciting backing niche in novice hurdles which should be exploited.

The background:

The background is simple. Laying 3rd favourites has been making small, consistent returns, but some 3rd favourites won their races (as a layer we do not want this of course).

So, I decided to look specifically at the races, in which the 3rd favourites won, and lo and behold, there was a pattern emerging to these nice priced winners (and fear not, as layers if we are laying to a fixed liability then it does not matter the size of the odds of the winner).

And that pattern could be found in the odds con-figuration.

A few examples I feel will enlighten you. Let me take you through 3rd favourite novice hurdlers who have won in June alone, and see if you can spot the pattern.

In the 6.oo at Stratford, on 2nd June, Grand Lahou won at Betfair SP odds of 11.5 (8/1 with the book-makers). The result is recounted below:

Let’s put these odds into order. We have Adiynara evens favourite, Tindaro 15/8, Grand Lahou 8/1,

Dirty Bertie 12/1, Millie O’Brien 25/1 and 33/1 or higher for the remaining four horses.

And here’s the odds configuration. Look for these pointers in novice hurdle betting markets:

✓ Four horses under double-figure odds. ✓ An inference from the odds that there are lots of outsiders. In the above race we have five horses priced at 25/1 or bigger. This suggests that these horses are unlikely to be competitive.

✓ Ideally, but by no means a necessity, we should see one or two short-priced market leaders. In this race we have Adiynara and Tindaro at evens and 15/8. The reason this is an ideal is that these short-priced 1st and 2nd favourites have a tendency to increase the prices of the remaining horses.

Did I mention the winner? He was the 3rd favou-rite in the live betting market.

In the 2.20 at Market Rasen on 8th June, we had the following odds configuration (and note that I will be going into greater detail in the accompany-ing videos).

Prompter was the 8/13 favourite, Lucky Landing a close 7/2 2nd favourite. The 3rd favourite was Saints and Sinners at 7/1. The 4th and 5th favourites were priced at 11/1 and 14/1 and the remaining four horses were priced 28/1, 50/1, 50/1 and 200/1.

This race meets the ideal odds configuration I mentioned. And the winner? Another 3rd favourite, in this case Saints and Sinners, at 7/1.

The 2.55 at Market Rasen on the same day saw Talk of Saafend win at odds of 6/1.

Harrys Whim was favourite at 5/4, South Stack 2nd favourite at 11/2, Talk 3rd favourite at 6/1.

The other horses in the race were priced at 10/1, 14/1, 16/1, 22/1 and 40/1.

Not as “clean” as the other races, but we did have that short-priced favourite and the suggestion of four outsiders.

And here’s the final, bang up to date, June qualifier. On 14th June, in the 610 at Hereford, the

favourite was Captain Brown at 11/10, Butler was 2nd favourite at 11/4, Compton Blue (our possible bet) was 3rd favourite at 8/1. Boa and Toughness Danon were both priced at 10/1 with the remaining horses priced at 18/1, 28/1 and 150/1.

And Compton Blue was the winner at 8/1.

The reason I am as excited as a Manchester City Manager in the Transfer Market, is that the win-ners in May also met this odds configuration – I go through this with you in the accompanying video: www.whatreallywinsmoney.co.uk/resourcepage

On 5th May, Teerie Express won at 8/1 in a race where there were only three horses under 50/1. Enter Milan won at 4/1 on 6th May, in a race which saw two horses at 100/1 and 1 at 16/1 (in a six horse Novice Hurdle).

The 10th May saw a 10/1 winner, 13th May a 12/1 winner, a 10/3 winner on 15th May and a 3/1 winner on 17th May. The 30th May saw a 6/1 winner.

The video goes into detail as regards these horses and races.

Bottom line

Have I uncovered a niche backing system as a nat-ural by-product of my 3rd favourite novice hurdles lay system (which actually makes a profit despite all of these winners)?

The amount of recent winners – and their prices – would suggest that this novice hurdle system is worth following.

In summary, look to back novice hurdle 3rd favourites when the bookmaker’s odds are similar to those in the 600 Stratford race featured in detail earlier.

We’d be looking for: ✓ One or two favourites who are short priced. ✓ 4th favourites and other horses at double figure odds to suggest a number of outsiders.

Back the 3rd favourite. You have two options. You can back to win only, and if you do, then I would strongly recommend Betfair SP. My records show that Betfair SP for the winners tends to really out-perform Bookmaker’s SP. You could back each way, which is a kind of insurance for the horse in case it finishes 2nd or 3rd.

Recent evidence suggests that this kind of odds

configuration and novice hurdles races can churn out some consistently big priced winners. Long may it continue. I’ll certainly be following it.

And of course, if you follow the 3rd favourite novice hurdle laying system, perhaps you should actively avoid races which indicate a back bet instead of a lay bet? It will increase your lay prof-its, and hopefully continue to increase your back profits.

So, add novice hurdle 3rd favourites to your bet-ting niches and back and lay when necessary!

Home-Grown Systems Updates

Slow and Steady Profits, Plus a Whopping 88% Strike Rate From This Lay Sytem

Welcome to June’s update on the home-grown betting ideas I have highlighted since year

start.

NAPS 12/13

To remind you, we are looking for the horse chosen by 12 or 13 tipsters in the selection box at the Racing Post. Fear not, see the accompanying video for a reminder: www.whatreallywinsmoney.co.uk/resourcepage.

So far, the strike rate remains at 75% over 156 bets. The system is treading water at present but there is a suggestion that a long-term profit will materialise. The end of May saw four losers in five bets which skewed the figures somewhat. A 13.6 profit to date sees a longest winning sequence of 17 and longest losing sequence of -4.

Price Gapper Lays

£950 profit for May using Price Gapper and 2% staking for Lay % Up Down (from www.staking-machine.com). A high of just over £3K shows you that this staking plan is rather volatile but capable of quick sustained profits.

£87 to 5% staking on £100 starting bank for the gentler Lay Hi Pro 86 staking plan is a reasonable

Page 4: June 2012 Volume 8 Issue 06 What Really Wins Money · Novice Hurdle). The 10th May saw a 10/1 winner, 13th May a 12/1 winner, a 10/3 winner on 15th May and a 3/1 winner on 17th May

4

profit given the low stakes.

I like this Lay % Up Down staking plan. It per-forms admirably with all favourites-based laying systems with a strike rate of around 50%. The Price Gapper lay system has a strike rate for May of 56%. For some months now, Lay % Up Down staking

plan from www.stakingmachine.com, when com-bined with laying price gappers, has been churning out consistent profits time and again.

Lay Favourites in Last Race of the Day

I introduced you to this “urban Myth” in April’s WRWM. Can we really profit from laying the favou-rite in the last race of the day? An 11.7 point profit if we lay to lose a specific amount (fixed liability) and a 72.5% strike rate from 218 bets. Quite simply, we do what the title suggests. Lay the favourite in the last race of the day.

Well worth further monitoring.

Lay Novice Hurdle 3rd Favourites

88% strike rate after 437 bets and the profit thus far sits at 13.9 points, a loss of 3.1 points from last month. Do read the Novice Hurdle independent article and that will point you in the direction of 3rd favourites you should be avoiding as a layer, and backing instead! It’s a poor return admittedly given the number of bets, but I’ll remind you that we are laying to a fixed liability so profits are small, but consistent, and losses remain controlled.

2nd Favourites

I thought I’d update you on the performance of the 2nd favourites system, which I covered in a recent edition of WRWM. When I first introduced this system, I demonstrated a profit to £10 stakes of £438.75 as of 19th April, after tracking its perfor-mance since 25th October 2011.

As of 17th June, the profit has now risen to £652.09. The system was first introduced in April’s WRWM so do have a read of it. The accompanying video www.whatreallywinsmoney.co.uk/resourcepage will offer you a refresher and also provide you with some practical details. This looks well worth following, and remember that when you back 2nd favourites, you never will be backing odds-on shots.

Bottom line

I continue the theme of slow and steady profits

with the Naps 12/13, laying the favourite in the last race of the day, and laying novice hurdle 3rd favou-rites.

Price gappers continues to profit and profit well using a high risk staking plan from www.stakingmachine.com called Lay % Up Down – this profit has been consistent over a long period.

Backing 2nd favourites ensures you never back odds-on shots. And the 2nd favourite system I introduced you to in April is profiting well. I hope this continues. See the video to address any issues as regards practical application of these ideas, and a refresher on each strategy.

The Statman Presents:

Are Apprentices the Money Masters? This month the Statman turns his attention towards the lesser-known jockeys plying their trade during this flat season and has found another profitable angle that we can exploit.

This month I have decided to have a much closer look at the problems of jockeyship, but refined to a level where we could all handle the possibilities. Everyone knows about the very best jockeys out there (Frankie Dettori, Richard Hughes, William Buick, Paul Hanagan, and Silvestre de Sousa to name but five), but as everyone follows them, prof-its are impossible to make betting blindly, as last year and the previous five years will soon tell you.

If we had bet £1 on each of their mounts last season, we would have lost an astounding £262.52 in ONE season, which led me to step one of this month’s statistics – what if you were to LAY all their mounts on Betfair? Would we profit?

What it did lead me to was another thought about apprentice jockeys – less famous, no household names, and perhaps less bookmaker incentive to shrink or lengthen prices – but is there a twist that can turn us a little profit I wonder?

Naturally, there is only one way that I know of to find out, so I went and did a little investigating!

Firstly, I recorded the profit and loss over the last three years for all the apprentice jockeys (no point

Page 5: June 2012 Volume 8 Issue 06 What Really Wins Money · Novice Hurdle). The 10th May saw a 10/1 winner, 13th May a 12/1 winner, a 10/3 winner on 15th May and a 3/1 winner on 17th May

Well my first comment has to be, I had no idea there were so many apprentices riding but I have got my name list from the most reliable source imaginable (the British Horseracing Board), so it must be true. As you can see, there are already profits to be made simply backing the list of profit-able jockeys above which would have given you a return, but when I started this my idea was that apprentices are attached to individual stables – the ones they ride out for where they surely ought to get to know the horses, their likes and dislikes, and most importantly, how to ride them, and in many races, and extra claim allowance for riding for their retaining stable.

So, if my theory is correct, the profits and losses listed above ought to change dramatically in the punters’ favour if we only include horses trained by their boss – as well as making it a list any punter can handle if they want to for betting purposes. Let’s have a look... though be warned, apprentices do move from yard to yard almost at will so for this set of figures, I can only use the current season.Name Stable Rides Wins Profit/

As you can see from the minimal loss shown above (though remember, this is only for the season to date), we can amend that and, I feel, continue to reap the benefits as those most profitable are not necessarily the names most of us would have expected. Now that is not even cherry picking, I have left in any apprentice (profit or loss) who has ridden three winners for their yard this season and still we show a very nice profit to £1 stakes of very close to £200! Yes I could remove the loss makers (and if I do you end up with a profit figure of £446.28) but I con-sider that back fitting and prefer the more realistic figures I have quoted to go to war with – enjoy!

In conclusion, I suggest that we now follow all apprentices for the rest of the season when they are riding for their retained yard (see list), and once they have won two or more races that season – this combines confidence with ability (thanks to the two wins aspect), and evidence of a yard who have enough faith in their apprentices to put them up on horses with winning chances – many will go off at decent prices and I am sure we can all make money for the rest of the season using these little-known and under bet facts to our advantage.

The video for this article will show you how you’ll know when one of these apprentices is riding, and whether they have won the prerequisite number of races to make this statistical angle profitable.

Each-Way Betting System

Are These 2 free Ratings Each-Way Profit Makers?

I am always on the look-out for potential profitable betting angles which have the following charac-

teristics:

✓ Easy to select. ✓ Produce enough placed and winning horses.

Page 9: June 2012 Volume 8 Issue 06 What Really Wins Money · Novice Hurdle). The 10th May saw a 10/1 winner, 13th May a 12/1 winner, a 10/3 winner on 15th May and a 3/1 winner on 17th May

Not much to ask for is it? And I feel, with every each-way idea I have (remember with each way bet-ting, we are effectively placing two bets, one on the place and one on the win), I feel it is as important to see how many horses finish 2nd and 3rd as finish 1st.

The more placed horses we can get, i.e. horses which do not win, the better we can preserve the betting bank.

In certain circumstances we’ll get a return if a horse finishes 2nd and 3rd. Even horses priced as short as 3/1 can return a large proportion of your place-only stake if coming 2nd or 3rd.

The 2 ratings

The two ratings are easy to find. What you’ll see below is a racecard from www.racingpost.com

The ratings we are interested in are the TS (Top-speed) and RPR (Racing Post Ratings).

Any horse with the highest rating in both columns will become a selection if:

✓ The horse is not the betting forecast favourite, nor the Spotlight/Diomed selection.

✓ The horse is not the betting forecast favourite, but is the Spotlight/Diomed selection.

✓ The horse is the betting forecast favourite, but is not the Spotlight/Diomed selection.

These provisos I hope allow us some bigger priced selections. If a horse is the betting forecast favourite, then it could equally be the live market favourite and so its price will be short.

If the horse is the betting forecast favourite and the Spotlight favourite, it may be popular with Racing Post readers.

Newstead Abbey in the race above is a selection. It is the betting forecast joint favourite too, but is not the Spotlight selection, as you can see in the fol-lowing screen capture.

The Spotlight Verdict for this race is Kimberella and not Newstead Abbey.

I have been monitoring these selections over time, and have noticed a fair smattering of winners. As recently as 15th June, there were winners at 13/8, 7/1, 17/2 and 8/1. That was from 18 selections. Two horses finished 3rd at odds of 8/1 and 13/2 and one horse 2nd at 13/8.

Because we are not delving deep into the form book, and are operating a rather simple idea, there will be a number of unplaced horses. That’s a given. Quite simply, the more effort you put in, the better the rewards.

That said, two 20/1 winners so far, which were available to a Betfair SP of 36 and 31 (35/1 and 30/1) were most welcome, and there are days such as 17th May when a real cluster of winners appears.

The 17th May saw winners at 7/2, 9/2, 8/1, 13/8, 4/1, and 20/1 from 14 selections.

As recently as 8th June, there were 20 selec-tions, with winners at 3/1, 7/1, 12/1 and 3/1, and six placed horses for a good each-way return. The reason I would advocate each-way betting is because of days such as the 17th June which saw five bets, with three placing 3rd at 4/1, 5/1 and 7/1, all preserving the betting bank because we literally get our stakes back at these prices for finishing 3rd in an 8+ runner race.

I have been monitoring selections since 4th Janu-ary and the number of wins, 2nd and 3rd places is impressive.

The accompanying video will allow you a glimpse into the performance of this ratings strategy as well as taking you through the selection process and a

Page 10: June 2012 Volume 8 Issue 06 What Really Wins Money · Novice Hurdle). The 10th May saw a 10/1 winner, 13th May a 12/1 winner, a 10/3 winner on 15th May and a 3/1 winner on 17th May

reminder on each-way betting: www.whatreallywinsmoney.co.uk/resourcepage

Bottom line

The promise is most definitely there. My concerns lie in the fallow periods, which can be dispiriting. I would consider backing all selections each way in order to ensure your stakes are returned (or losses minimised at least) when a horse places or wins.

The Patriarch Presents

Correct Score Perms For Maximum Returns

I know it’s the close season for football, but I thought it would be a good idea to have some-

thing ready for the new season. I believe it’s a rather interesting approach and, if I’m allowed a few moments of nostalgia, I’ll explain its background.

Back in the days before betting exchanges, fixed-odds coupons, even the Treble Chance on the pools coupon, there was a popular bet with the biggest dividends where you had to forecast the results of 12 of the most difficult matches of the day. The stake was one old penny a line and on some of the lesser coupons a farthing a line. Naturally you tried to win by using perms and the one that I happily remember divided the 12 matches into three groups of four, and for each group of four there was a nine line block perm. So for the 12 matches you had a perm of nine by nine by nine – 729 lines in total.

Enough nostalgia

What has all this to do with an approach for today’s betting? The secret lies in that nine line block. I’ll show it in a moment, but what it does is this: Take the results of any four matches and try them against our nine line block. The nine lines will contain one line with either all four correct or at the very least three of them will be correct – guaran-teed. That guarantee is not going to make our for-tune for forecasting results, but change these results into scores and we could be on our way to some-thing big. What I have in mind combines under 1.5

goals with just over 1.5 and I’ll explain all shortly. First, here is the nine line block that covers four matches.Line 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

Match 1. 1 2 x 1 2 x 1 2 x

Match 2. 1 2 x 2 x 1 x 1 2

Match 3. 1 2 x x 1 2 2 x 1

Match 4. 1 1 1 2 2 2 x x x

(Where, traditionally, 1 is the home win, 2 is the away win and x is the draw. Read down each column. Line 1 will be 1, 1, 1, 1, Line 2 will be 2, 2, 2, 1 and so forth.)

Try any combination of four results against the block and you’ll see that what I said is true. One line will have all four correct, or more likely, three will be correct.

Here is where I bring the old idea up to date. For a 1 result I substitute the score 1-0. For a 2 result I have the score 0-1. For the draw you could have 0-0 (then it would be an under 1.5 goals bet), but my suggestion would be 1-1, as that is the more likely score. So we have covered three of the most likely scores in all matches and by doing our research we should have a fair chance of finding four such matches any week.

If we can do that, then we win big and here’s how we set it out:

On a betting slip enter the scores for Line 1. They are 1-0, 1-0, 1-0 and 1-0. Then write – Perm 4 trebles at (stake) per treble, that is 4 times (stake) staked.

E.g. using £10 stakes, Perm 4 trebles at £10 per treble, £40 staked.

And why is it four trebles? We have matches 1, 2, 3, and 4.

The trebles for these four matches would be 1, 2, 3; 1, 2, 4; 2, 3, 4; 3, 4, 1.

For Line 2 enter on another slip 0-1, 0-1, 0-1 and 1-0, followed by the same written instructions as before. On a third slip for Line 3 enter the scores 1-1, 1-1, 1-1 and 1-0, again with the same instruc-tions. And on a fourth slip for Line 4 we have 1-0, 0-1, 1-1 and 0-1, same instructions. I won’t go through the remaining five lines, but do exactly the same for them. So we have filled in nine betting slips, four trebles on each, making 36 trebles

Page 11: June 2012 Volume 8 Issue 06 What Really Wins Money · Novice Hurdle). The 10th May saw a 10/1 winner, 13th May a 12/1 winner, a 10/3 winner on 15th May and a 3/1 winner on 17th May

please turn over...11

backed. And I’ll repeat the guarantee, which is that if we have all four matches resulting in any combi-nation of our three scores, then we must have a suc-cessful treble, and perhaps even four trebles. Even with just three correct out of the four we could still have a treble up, but no guarantee.

Betfair profit booster

Now for the best part – the returns we get when successful. Correct score prices depend, of course, on the match odds, but for the kind of close matches we’d be looking at these are the prices we can expect. I’ve taken them from a Ladbrokes chart and I would think other bookmakers would be roughly the same, perhaps just half a point different. For 1-0 the odds are 5-1, for 0-1 it’s 6-1 and for 1-1 you’ll get 5-1. So the minimum return for a treble would be 215-1. Good, but look at this. If you did the same bet on the same matches on Betfair the minimum return would be around 475-1, more than double the book-maker odds, even after paying commission. These minimum odds on Betfair are for three 1-1 draws. If we have 1-0 and 0-1 among the scores then the odds increase dramatically. All three at 1-0 gives around 880-1 and at 0-1 an astounding figure of about 1,700-1. So it would seem that Betfair is the answer.

While you get your breath back after these huge figures I’m going to add a final idea to explode them even further. Go back to the instructions on the bet-ting slip where we permed the four trebles. I’m now going to add the words – and 1 four-fold at (stake), making five bets in all. So now instead of a total stake of 36 points we have 45 points staked. But with four correct which we need to guarantee our treble we have a one in nine chance of these four being in one of our nine lines. Should that happen we not only have four winning trebles but a winning four-fold as well. If the scores were all 0-1 then the returns on Betfair would be a staggering 27,000-1, give or take a hundred or two. I think I’ll have to go for a lie down!

P.S. I hope you noted that my Classic System won again this year with its very first bet. It has now won every year since I first introduced it here many years ago now!

Tipster Review

A Football Tipster With Results for All to See

As this is the last newsletter (well until August), I thought I would report on a football tipping

service I have been monitoring for some while. Just like the Patriarch, let’s get prepared for the New Season which will be with us quicker than Aaron Lennon.

It’s called www.football-bets.co.uk and what immediately draws me to this service is the fact that they keep an archive of results, and they also update their results on a regular basis, although the last update was on 15th May 2012 (which I suppose is excusable as, apart from the current Euro 2012 tournament there have been no strong football bet-ting opportunities since the European and Domestic leagues ended).

I have already spoken about horse racing tipsters who are fully transparent (to remind you, these services were www.bettertipster.co.uk, www.horsebettinganalyst.com and www.price-power.com) and this really is the ideal you should be searching for. It is nice, therefore, to see an other-than-horseracing tipster provide transparency.

This transparency allows you to track the services yourself. These services all have positive character-istics which I’ll remind you of here:

✓ Archived results (in detail) fully available for inspection.

✓ Recent results updated regularly – warts and all. If they’re having a slow period, it’s all out in the open.

✓ Proofed independently to a third party like me who can verify that what is presented is accu-rate.

✓ Ideally a web presence to make results instantly accessible.

There used to be three elements to this service, but now only the Betting Laying Club and 99 Reds remain. The 3rd element to the service, which focussed solely on Scottish League Selections, did not prove profitable.

The Betting Laying Club is run by “Phil” who is

Page 12: June 2012 Volume 8 Issue 06 What Really Wins Money · Novice Hurdle). The 10th May saw a 10/1 winner, 13th May a 12/1 winner, a 10/3 winner on 15th May and a 3/1 winner on 17th May

12

an ex odds compiler. The title is a bit misleading as this is not exclusively a laying service. All kinds of football bets are placed, from corners to traditional over/under goals bets and match odds bets.

Bets are placed on a points basis (e.g. more points for a more confident selection) or to level stakes.

The Bet Laying Club in 2011 would have seen a profit of £1,539 if betting £100 per point and £2,249 if betting £100 level stakes on all selections that year.

2012 so far has seen a profit of £1,588 to £100 per point staked and an identical £1,588 to £100 level stakes.

And remember there are two tipsters as part of the service. 99 Reds is the other part of the service. This is run by Kevin who is an ex player and manager who uses his own stats to find value bets.

£1,108 profit to £100 per point staking in 2011 and £1,513 profit to £100 level stakes in 2011.

2012 is currently running at £207 loss to £100 per point and £607 loss to £100 level stakes.

Overall though, since the service started, both ser-vices are showing strong profits, but that is to £100 level stakes or £100 per point betting.

Bottom line2011 was profitable if combining both of these

services and 2012 is profitable if combining both services.

Do remember, you’d also have to be taking £34.99 per month from your profits, which is an additional £420 a year to take off the profits.

The transparency is there which is admirable, and to be encouraged. You should focus your search for profitable tipsters around those who show full results (even when they are in the midst of a losing period).

Long term is the key with this service, and a degree of faith that the profits from 2009 to date will continue into the near future. Although in profit, returns are unexciting for 2011 and 2012 and rely on £100 stake per bet.

Bet Laying Club has the most consistent move-ment upwards and 99 Reds can fluctuate before increasing the overall profits, but it must be said, profits do accrue.

I suppose this is very much like the story of www.price-power.com in that we must have a long-term perspective in order to make the profits.

For the fee charged, £100 stakes I suppose are necessary to see a reasonable, albeit unspectacular yearly return. This may present practical concerns. Ideally, with stakes like these we would be seek-ing immediate profit to enable us to bet with OPM (Other People’s Money).

There’s no getting away from the long-term profit-ability, despite recent dips for 99 Reds in particular. The question is whether you are happy to “sit it out” and benefit from long-term membership (and con-tinue paying the monthly fee in a down period)?

You can dip your toe in the water with a £1 for a two-week trial, and there is a strong four-week test guarantee during which you are guaranteed a refund if the service is not for you. I would wait, of course, until the Domestic and European football com-mences in August. There will be a stronger flow of bets then with which to check out the service.

That’s an 837% return on an 80-point bank in 10 months.

In March, Paul introduced a new variation to the Back/Lay 75% method which is proving even more profitable as it can be operated on just a 50 point bank. That variation made 34.88 points (70% return) in March, in April it made 33.78 points (68% return) and in May it made 72.87 points (146% return!).

Paul has also made a video describing exactly how to use this new method and he’s offering a free trial between 20th June and 19th July.

Grey Horse Bot

Last month I told you about how I made over £5,000 with a £500 starting bank using the Grey Horse Bot and the free bonus selections that come with it (MR2).

I hit a bit of a losing streak, which was to be expected considering the odds of the horses I was betting on, and gave back £1,500 of that £5,000. At that point I decided to withdraw £3,000 of the winnings, and reset my bank back to £500, this time using just the winnings instead of my own money.

At the time of writing, my £500 bank now stands at £1,267.50, and of course this is all profit. So it’s not doing as spectacularly as the first couple of weeks but is still making an incredible profit.

Selections get uploaded to the bot automatically so all you have to do is decide how much you want to stake and turn it on.

I’ll do another update on this next month.

Sprint Lay Expert

This system is off to a great start this season. Since April, and starting with a £25 stake, the profit is up over £300, and this is from just the quiet period (the busy period is just about to start).

The results are similar to previous years, and each of those years went on to at least TRIPLE the bank by the end of the season using the tailored staking system that you get with the package.

This year is no different, and is currently follow-ing the same consistent pattern.

This is a great system and certainly one that should be part of your betting portfolio.

The package is very comprehensive with all the usual manuals, videos and software you’d expect from Chris.

The season is just about to enter its busy period so it’s not too late to start.

Assured Soccer Profits

One of the most successful football systems to be launched last year was the Assured Soccer Profits system. This is a Betfair betting exchange system that anyone who has a Betfair account, a PC with an Internet connection and the willingness to learn a few basic techniques from Masters of football trad-ing can use.

You can check out our review here:

Assured Soccer Profits closed to new members back in February 2012 disappointing a lot of people that still wanted to get hold of this breakthrough system and, of course, disappointing many who thought that when they said they were closing the doors, this was just some marketing talk. But it wasn’t, they really did shut the doors. But it isn’t bad news I bring you today. Here is some really good news.

The Assured Soccer Profits guys, bowing to pres-sure from many that wanted to, but couldn’t, get back in at the beginning of the year, have decided to re-open the site just for Euro 2012. So now you can enjoy watching the European International Champi-onships whilst having a little financial flutter on the games. The site will stay open for the tournament.

But ASP, as we now call it, isn’t just a football system, it is THE football system and what you get for your one-off payment is huge. The system itself allows you, in 90% plus of all games you use it on, to make a small profit regardless of the result of the game and also shows you how to minimise or kill off completely any chances of losses and, with most games your input is limited to a few minutes prior to

Page 14: June 2012 Volume 8 Issue 06 What Really Wins Money · Novice Hurdle). The 10th May saw a 10/1 winner, 13th May a 12/1 winner, a 10/3 winner on 15th May and a 3/1 winner on 17th May

kick-off, a few minutes during the game and often it’s all done and dusted by half-time. Now there are always going to be losses, but used properly, you can turn most games into no-lose situations.

And you don’t have to sit glued to your PC, they’ll show you how to use a live score site that alerts you to action when needed and tell you exactly when you need to go back to the game to wrap up your profits or come out without loss.

You will see from the spreadsheet of results on the site, going all the way back to February 2010, just how many games the creators of the system have profited on and how many were losers on stakes that are small enough for most people to manage, providing they have a few hundred pounds of bet-ting bank.

The one-off payment gets you membership to the site and over 20 tutorial videos, including five “get-ting started” videos you can view at your leisure. Manuals to back up the videos, tools to help you decide what and how to bet and even a spreadsheet pre-designed to allow you to keep the same records that the ASP creators keep. In addition, there is an historic archive of blogs/articles covering various trading situations and, I understand, new ones will be added over the next few months.

So there you have it, the most comprehensive football trading system ever to be produced, has opened up again for a short time.

Grab a spot while you can before the doors close again – and they absolutely will:

Full Time Betting Income

This is one of the longest tests we’ve done here but it was necessarily so. It started way back in June 2011 and ran for a full year before I could review it.

Just to remind you what this is about, the idea is to take a £200 betting bank and turn that, through the power of compounding, into a five-figure annual income within five years. It does it with one or two lay bets a day, that take around five minutes to find, and best of all, the lay bets are odds-on.

You get a staking plan included with a programmed Excel spreadsheet which tells you exactly how much to bet on each race. There is no progressive staking here, it’s percent of bank

staking and the percentage changes depending on the size of bank. You get a definite profit strategy that shows you how to turn your £200 into around £30,000, and you get a comprehensive video train-ing course that shows you exactly how to do it all.

So what do I think of it?

Okay, let’s start with the basic idea. In my experi-ence, having talked to literally thousands of bettors over the years, without fail all of those that have failed to profit from their betting activities have set themselves an untrue and unrealistic bank. They have tried a system or service for a while using a “bank” but once they lose 25-50% of it on a losing run, they quit doing it for fear of losing the rest. What this means is that their true bank was only 25-50% of what they told themselves it was.

So what’s a true betting bank? Professional bettor Paul Beaumont, who has made hundreds of thou-sands of pounds from betting, puts it like this:

“Start with an amount you could set fire to this minute.”

This is the only way to bet and what Full Time Betting Income is trying to achieve is to make the user adopt this attitude.

So the idea is that you take £200 and use the system for five years and in that time you roll over all your profits to build up your bank. After year five your bank will be big enough that you can then start withdrawing your profits, to the tune of, hope-fully, £30,000 a year or thereabouts. The theory is that since all the money, bar the first £200 that you put in, is money that you have won, then you are able to bet professionally and not get emotional about losing runs, and not quit when you lose a few grand during them.

Now, the biggest drawback with this kind of system is that it absolutely, positively does not appeal to the majority of bettors. Most people bet because they think it’s quick-and-easy money – and most people lose money when betting. Or they bet because they enjoy the thrill of it. Again, most people lose.

What Full Time Betting Income does is treat bet-ting like a long-term business whereby you do not expect to make any profit for a few years. For this reason it won’t suit a lot of people. But before you dismiss this out of hand, let’s have a look at the results.

Page 15: June 2012 Volume 8 Issue 06 What Really Wins Money · Novice Hurdle). The 10th May saw a 10/1 winner, 13th May a 12/1 winner, a 10/3 winner on 15th May and a 3/1 winner on 17th May

During the test, this system took the £200 bank and turned it into – wait for it...

£409.

Yep, it made a whopping £209 profit after one year of betting.

Could you bet for a year and be happy with £209 profit? (Err – personally, I couldn’t but then I would start with a £1,000 bank, and I’d be happy with £1,035 profit.)

To be fair, that figure is to BSP. Had you taken the prices available in the morning, that would have been £474, which might not sound a lot more but if you were on Year 5 of the plan, that’s considerable.

So what can we make of this?

Well, basically it did exactly what it was supposed to do. During the year the bank was in the red for quite some time but then it recovered and went on to make a profit. 100%+ return in a year is perfectly acceptable, most systems and services don’t manage this.

It’s worth noting in the past results there was a year where the bank was in the red for nine whole months and even then returned a profit by the end of the year.

It really does seem to do exactly what is promised.

If you have the patience to take a long-term betting approach then this is a very encouraging system. Check out the results on the site for your-self, do the maths, and you can see exactly how interesting it gets after a few short years.

To sum up, the positives are:

✓ Quick and easy to do, takes five minutes a day. ✓ Very low starting bank required and that is never threatened (much).

✓ Extremely good long-term earning potential. But the negatives are:

✓ Very slow progress in the first couple of years. ✓ Need a lot of patience and discipline to follow it through.

✓ Dull as dishwater.I would really love to see Chris develop a betting

bot that takes care of all of it for you. I could easily put one on my VPS, stick a grand in it, turn it on and see where it’s at in 2017. I reckon if enough people badgered him to build one, he might just do

it too.

Do I recommend this?

The system costs £97. For that you get a lot. In the members’ area you get the FTBI system, the profit strategy and a video showing you how to make the selections. There’s also a bunch of training videos, the staking plan calculator (with another video showing you how to use it) and a free bot that will place the bets for you (but you still need to tell it what to bet on).

You also get the selections emailed to you for the first 30 days so you can check you’re doing it right, and there’s an option to subscribe to the selections for six months for £60 if you prefer not to do it yourself.

I think this is a good package and very good value. If you had £300 lying around, you could buy this, start the system with the £203 you’ve got left over, and in five years you may well be quit-ting your job to live off this! You certainly won’t be losing much if it doesn’t work out.

Considering the very low start-up cost of this package, the wealth of material you get when you buy it, and the very compelling long-term earning potential, I’m giving this a definite thumbs up and adding it to the Approved section.

Easy Lay Elite

I have been looking at the Easy Lay Elite service. The service provides a daily email of selections for £19.97 per month or £37.99 per quarter (a tad under £13 per month).

Chris, the provider, suggests that the selections are used in one of two ways:

Over time solid and consistent profits have been achieved by laying all of the selections but occa-sionally one or two of the higher priced ones will go on to win their races. There is actually an upper SP of 41 here.

If you prefer a lower risk option then we suggest that you use the sensible maximum lay price of 8.60.

I followed both of these methods and will also add

Page 16: June 2012 Volume 8 Issue 06 What Really Wins Money · Novice Hurdle). The 10th May saw a 10/1 winner, 13th May a 12/1 winner, a 10/3 winner on 15th May and a 3/1 winner on 17th May

a third, where the selection is matched in-running. I used Betfair SP and 5% commission was deducted from the winning lays.

Preamble over, I am finishing this review a few days early of my normal 60 days as we have had very poor recent results and I do not believe that, in the two weeks remaining, the service can recover. At the Day 26 mark, 4th May, we were £225 up; since then we have had a run of very poor results and at Day 45, 25th May, now stand at £300 down.

As stated above I looked at several ways to use the data provided:

✓ Using Betfair SP with a filter of 8.6 and below is the preferred option and has lost £317.

✓ Using Betfair SP on “all” selections, but actu-ally had a filter of 41 and below lost £2,087.

✓ Using the prices advised in the email with a filter of 8.6 and below has lost £390.

✓ Using the prices advised in the email on “all” selections, but actually had a filter of 41 and below lost £3,037.

✓ Using a filter of 8.6 or below at any time in-running lost £1,647.

✓ Using a filter of 41 or below at any time in-running lost £3,449.

I cannot say whether we have been unlucky in a sustained run of poor results, or were lucky at the start of the trial with a run of good results. Up to the last few days, the British summer has been both very cold and very wet, and this may be a factor. Either way, there seems little hope of recov-ering to break-even in the time remaining for the trial. Hence, the only option is to categorise this as FAILED.

“Kick Start A SAFE Income Stream for as Little As £2.00 a Race!”

We’re all tired of hearing those pie-in-the sky promises from supposedly infallible bet-

ting gurus and especially tired of seeing our profits decimated by losing runs. Which is why, when I came across this system from Jason King I made it priority number one to share.

If you’ve tried lay betting before you’ll know that one of the major downsides comes from the number of punters placing winning bets alongside you and wiping out your profits. Well, Little Acorns claims to enable you to ‘all but completely cut your poten-tial losses’ (and your stress-levels in the process).

Here’s what current users have to say:“I was up and running within 20 minutes and made

£150 from 3 lays on my first day! I have continued to make money every month since - by far the best laying formula I have seen.” J. Johnstone, Stockport

Here is my summary;End of year 1 - Profit of £2,880 - Monthly income of: £240.00p Total bank and profit at end of Year 1 of (£1,420 + £2,880) Total = £4,300 Therefore, this £4,300 was re-invested for Year 2.End of year 2 - Profit of £7,630 - Monthly income of: £635.83p Total bank and profit at end of Year 2 of (£4,300 + £7,630) Total = £11,930 Therefore, this £11,930 was re-invested for Year 3.End of year 3 - Profit of £20,162 - Monthly income of: £1,680.16p Total bank and profit at end of Year 3 of (£11,930 + £20,162) Total = £32.092

There you have it. A nice income after 3 years by having a little patience.
