From  Intern  toAgent:Mike  Reed(Midtown) Although I am not far down my career path, I would have notgotten here this quickly without my internship with ERA WilderRealty. It was invaluable to take licensing courses at no cost tome, while slowly learning the basics of prospecting. I receivedguidance every step of the way from Robert, Eddie, Lucinda, andPenny. It was initially surreal to have so many people concernedwith my development, especially the president of the company,but their support is what allowed me to persevere through myfailures.

Now as a full time agent, I can see parallels from my early daysas an intern and my day to day as an agent. For example, manydays I was left to myself and my productivity was  completelyhinged on me. There was no one breathing down my neck orchecking on my work. My success is all up to me. There were,and still will be, many days in which I fail; days when I amunfocused or in a funk. But with my on-going training and theavailability of so many people to help me through, I know that aslong as I am pushing forward they will be behind me.

My only suggestion on how to improve the experience dependson the personality and comfort level of the intern. I handled thehands off approached decently well, but others may not. If theintern could act more as an assistant to an agent they mightprogress more quickly. A lot of my hesitation was due to a lack ofconfidence because I did not understand the paperwork or thenext steps in a situation. Partnering with Jimmy has allowed meto walk into any situation and bring something of value to thetable even if I have no experience in that particular situation. Myintern to agent experience has taught me a major lesson that willset the tone for the rest of my career; sharpening your skills is anever-ending necessity.
