Pastor’s Note ~ 12th Sunday Father’s Day On the Sea of Galilee, there was a violent storm as Jesus was crossing with the disciples…frightened and anxious and full of fear of what could happen, the apostles “awoke” the Lord. They wanted assurance and a sign that Jesus was with them in their terrifying crossing. He woke up and said to the sea, “Quiet, be still!” Then Jesus asked the disciples, “Why were you terrified; do you still not have faith?” They said to one another, “Who is this whom even the wind and sea obey?” We "walk by faith, not by sight" much of the time. That's why we call it "faith." Walking in "confidence" is walking "with faith." [Latin: confidere = to believe in] Today, for example, each of us can place our trust in God's presence with us, in the midst of the most difficult challenges. We can say, "Lord, I know that you know more than I know or understand. I trust that you feel the pain I have and the pain that so many are carrying. I know you are sad about suffering. But, I place my trust in you, believing that you alone can redeem this mess with your love, mercy and grace. Knowing you are with me, gives me courage and hope. What I'm really asking you is to help me sense your presence with me and to believe. Like these readings help me to trust, that you have a power and a grace that we can't see or understand until we witness how you can give light, when we only see death. Please give me bold courage. FAITH IMPELS US. Not the kind of faith that paints it like a good insurance policy, covering all ails that might beset us. No, Christians are held to a different standard. Faith provides an “interior certainty, a conviction that God can act in every situation.” There is a Pattern of fear: 1. Fear and anxiety undermines our ability to work, to love, and to play. 2. Fear cripples our ability to be transformed, 3. Fear questions our ability to survive all the things that scare me. So we scream out to the Lord! Jesus says “Be not afraid, trust in me.” And he says, “Peace, be still.” That’s the faith that impels us! The sun rises the next morning but we see the effects of the SONshine. Father’s Day remembrance – What a dignity to which you as husbands and fathers are called, what noble ministry!!! Recall the eight commitments of dads from Saint Joseph Covenant Keepers: 1. Affirming Christ's Lordship Over Our Families 2. Following St. Joseph, the Loving Leader and Head of the Holy Family 3. Loving Our Wives All Our Lives

4. Turning Our Hearts Toward Our Children 5. Educating Our Children in the Discipline and In-struction of the Lord 6. Protecting Our Families 7. Providing for Our Families 8. Building Our Marriages and Families on the "Rock" Following these commitments, the dads are asked to enthrone an image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in their homes. We are to say by our life in Jesus, “Peace, be still.”

What’s Going On Thank You... Dear St. Henry Parishioners, Thank you so much for all the well wishes - kind words - cards - flowers - candy etc. you gave me as I retire. You have been my home, my support and my source of joy for nearly half my life! As I enter the next chapter, please know how grateful I am for this community of faith. I have raised my children here, buried my husband here and participated in many of your life events as well. May God continue to bless us as we move forward out of the dev-astating pandemic of the last year. I am hopeful that we will begin to gather freely again soon. Peace, Sara Wise

Did You Know...Vestment Colors ©LPi Question: What do the colors of the priest’s and deacon’s vestments mean? Answer: In the Roman Rite of the Catholic Church, the colors of the vestments evolved over the course of several centuries and there was wide variation both in the colors used, and in the feasts and seasons associated with particular colors. It was Pope Innocent III (d. 1216) who gave us the basic outline that was later prescribed by Pope Saint Pius V in 1570. The various colors remind us of the dominant themes of a particular season or celebration. White: Used for the seasons of Christmas and Easter and in celebrations of the Lord, of Mary, the angels, and saints who were not martyrs. This color is also used in Masses for the dead, at baptisms, weddings and other festive celebra-tions. Red: As the color of both blood and fire, red is used on Palm Sunday and Good Friday, as well as Pentecost and special celebrations of the Holy Spirit. Moreover, red is used on the feasts and memorials of the Apostles and those saints who died as martyrs. Violet: The color for Advent and Lent. Violet may also be used in Masses for the dead and on All Souls Day Green: A color of life and hope, green is used throughout Ordinary Time. Other colors: Rose may be used on the Third Sunday of Advent and the Fourth Sunday of Lent, black may be used in Masses of the dead and on All Souls Day, gold or silver may be used on solemn occasions in place of white, red, or green.

¿Todavía no tienen fe?’” (Marcos 4:35-40).
