    When God's Kingdom Comes! "The Impact of the King's People"

    Song Leaders Paul Trinklein/Kris Pahl

    Prelude Music: Offered By:

    Welcome & Announcements leader: PA and PR

    Opening Hymn Title: "Rise, Shine, You People" Number: LSB pg.825 Stanzas: 1,2,3

    Rise, shine, you people! Christ the Lord has entered

    Our human story; God in Him is centered.

    He comes to us, by death and sin surrounded, with grace unbounded.

    See how He sends the pow’rs of evil reeling;

    He brings us freedom, light and life and healing.

    All men and women, who by guilt are driven, now are forgiven

    Come, celebrate, your banners high unfurling,

    Your songs and prayers against the darkness hurling.

    To all the world go out and tell the story of Jesus’ glory.

    Invocation and Call to Worship leader: PA

    LEADER: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

    PEOPLE: Amen.

    LEADER: Lord, in your Word You have said: "Repent for the kingdom of heaven is

    near." (Matt. 4: 17) Then you went on to give us eight characteristics we should fol-

    low to live our lives for You.

    PEOPLE: Lord, you turned our world's accepted standards upside down. It is poor,

    not rich, who are blessed,

    LEADER: Weak, not strong, who are to be esteemed;

    PEOPLE: The pure in heart, not the sophisticated and worldly, who understand what

    life is all about.

    LEADER: Righteousness, not power or money, should be our pursuit.

    PEOPLE: Over 2000 years later, and we still struggle with getting this right!

    Confession and Forgiveness Creative confession Leader: PA

    LEADER: We now confess:

    PEOPLE: Help us, O Lord, we are poor, wretched, blind. We need Your sight, Your

    riches, Your healing of the mind. We need to be what you made us to be - the SALT

    of the earth and to be Your LIGHT in this world. Yet, so often we fail. Please, forgive

    us.

    LEADER: By our own strength, we can't be salt or light up anything. But when Jesus

    touches us, our faith ignites into fire and we are able to illumine the lives of others

    with His love. Know that because of Jesus' death and resurrection, your sins are for-

    given. Jesus brings you hope and truth, joy and peace. Jesus, the Light of the world,

  • will shine through to others. Shine, Jesus, Shine!

    PEOPLE: Amen.

    Sharing the peace Leader: PA "Peace be with you"

    Hymn of Praise leader: Song Leaders Title: "Jesus Sat With His Disciples" Number:

    LSB 932 Stanzas: st. 1,2,3

    Jesus sat with His disciples On a mountainside one day;

    As the crowds of people gathered, He began to teach and say;

    "Blessed are the poor in spirit, Heaven's kingdom they will share,

    Blessed are the sad and mourning, Joy and comfort will be theirs.

    "Bless are the meek and humble, All the earth to them is willed.

    Those who hunger to be holy, They are bless'd and will be filled.

    Yes, the merciful are blessed, Mercy will to them be shown.

    And the pure is heart are blessed, They have eyes for God alone.

    "Blessed are God's sons and daughters, Making peace where there is strife,

    Blessed are the persecuted, Who for righteousness lose life;

    Their reward is great in heaven, In the kingdom up above

    So be glad to share My suff'ring and rejoice to know My love."

    Epistle: Text: Acts 6:1-7 Page 914 Reader: Lisa Lassi

    Now in these days when the disciples were increasing in number, a complaint by the

    Hellenists arose against the Hebrews because their widows were being neglected in

    the daily distribution. [2] And the twelve summoned the full number of the disciples

    and said, "It is not right that we should give up preaching the word of God to serve

    tables. [3] Therefore, brothers, pick out from among you seven men of good repute,

    full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we will appoint to this duty. [4] But we will

    devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word." [5] And what they said

    pleased the whole gathering, and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the

    Holy Spirit, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and

    Nicolaus, a proselyte of Antioch. [6] These they set before the apostles, and they

    prayed and laid their hands on them. [7] And the word of God continued to increase,

    and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of

    the priests became obedient to the faith. ...This is the Word of the Lord.

    PEOPLE: Thanks be to God.

    Holy Gospel Text: Matthew 5: 13-16 Page 810 Reader: PA

    "You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be

    restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled un-

    der people's feet. [14] "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be

    hidden. [15] Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and

    it gives light to all in the house. [16] In the same way, let your light shine before oth-

    ers, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in

    heaven. ...This is the Gospel of the Lord.

    PEOPLE: Praise to You, O Christ.

  • Children's Church leader: NM

    Hymn of the Day Title: "In Christ Alone" Number: MSPW 138 Stanzas: 1-2

    In Christ alone my hope is found, He is my light, my strength, my song.

    This Cornerstone, this solid ground, Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.

    What heights of love, what depths of peace, When fears are stilled, when strivings

    cease!

    My Comforter, my all in all, Here in the love of Christ I stand.

    In Christ alone, who took on flesh, Fullness of God in helpless Babe.

    This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones He came to save.

    ‘Till on that cross as Jesus died The wrath of God was satisfied;

    For ev’ry sin on Him was laid. Here in the death of Christ I live.

    Sermon Preacher: Pastor Ron Title: "The Impact of the King's People" Text:

    Hymn of Response Title: "In Christ Alone" Number: MSPW 138 Stanzas: 3-4

    There in the ground His body lay, Light of the world by darkness slain.

    Then bursting forth in glorious day, Up from the grave He rose again!

    And as He stands in victory, Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me.

    For I am His and He is mine, Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

    No guilt in life, no fear in death, This is the pow’r of Christ in me.

    From life’s first cry to final breath, Jesus commands my destiny.

    No pow’r of hell, no scheme of man Can ever pluck me from His hand.

    ‘Til He returns or calls me home, Here in the pow’r of Christ I’ll stand.

    Confession of Faith: Apostle's Creed Leader: PA Creed:

    I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus

    Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the

    virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He

    descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into

    heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence he will

    come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian

    Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the

    body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

    VISTE THANKS—We recently received an appreciation certificate from VISTE (Volunteers in Service to the Elderly) for all the volunteer hours worked by

    members of our congregation. VISTE serves approx. 4,000 clients in Polk County.

    Over 1,000 volunteers work together toward the mission of helping the frail

    elderly remain safe and independent in their own homes. On behalf of the clients

    served through VISTE, THANK YOU!
