f. Sponsoring Kiwanis Clubs: Clubs must contact sponsoring Kiwanis Clubs; take part in their events and also invite them to your events. Kiwanis Clubs and Key Clubs must work together through out the year, this includes going to their meetings, and Club editor’s sending their newsletters to their sponsoring Kiwanis clubs. If you don’t have the contact information for your sponsoring Kiwanis club feel free to ask me for the contact information.

g. Summer Events - Summer Paperwork (FORMS): There has been a lot of confusion regarding summer events. I am going to clarify it for you; Clubs must have summer events or attend summer events because of the Monthly Report form. As you all know key club is year round and that includes the report forms- even though its summer you must still fill them out and hand them in by the 7th of each month and the 10th (that being the late deadline). Clubs can go to other clubs events, divisional events, sponsoring Kiwanis club events: because they all count and can be put on the Monthly report form.

IX. Introduction of New Divisional Board: a. Divisional Executive Assistant: Kenneth Diep b. Divisional Secretary: Omnia Ismail

Page 3: June 10th, 2011 Divisional Agenda MINUTES (NYDKC DIVISION 8-A)

Many of you know that I have been looking for Divisional assistants and even extended the deadline because of the fact that no one had applied. I finally found two amazing applicants! I want to clarify and state the reason for selecting two applicants from my own club before anyone gets offended. These two were the only ones that applied for the positions they’re both juniors; I know that for the executive assistant position I initially asked for the applicants to either be freshman(s) or sophomore(s). Being Lieutenant Governor is a big job and very time consuming and I dedicate my time to this club more than other Key Clubbers do but I do need help at times and in order to not let you guys down I need two other people to work with me: help make phone calls to clubs, sponsoring clubs, and many others in order to have everything done on time. So feel free to contact Kenneth and Omnia they are very friendly and very eager to work with you guys.

X. GUEST SPEAKERS: a. Kelly Chan: K-Family Relations:

Kelly Chan was going to speak about K-Family Relations at the divisional before it was canceled. Kelly Chan is the committee chair for K-Family relations in Circle K, her job is to promote the relations within the different branches of the K-Family and this year she has planned a K-Family Picnic at Cunningham Park in Queens. This will be counted as a Divisional Event so clubs must attend (by the way its another event you can write down on the MRF J). The picnic will take place on July 17th at Cunningham Park from 12:30pm – 6:30pm. I know that Cunningham Park is very far from where many of us live and due to the complicated transportation route (a train and 2 buses for many of us) clubs may leave earlier if they need to. Please RSVP at:

b. Alan Huang: Sunnyside Key Club Introduction: The concept of creating a community-based Key Club was born when a number of former Builder’s Club students returned to their intermediate school and asked their former Builder’s Club advisor if they could work at the school to fulfill the community service requirements of their various high schools. The high schools that these particular students attended did not have Key Clubs. Most of the Key Clubbers from the Sunnyside community Key Club live within the Sunny-side community and Woodside community. Within two months the sunny-side community key club had recruited 29 members from 15 different high schools.

The sunny-side community key club looks forward to working with other key clubs within division 8A. For more information Clubs can contact Alan Huang the president of the Sunny-side community Key Club:

XI. EVENTS: The following Events will count as Divisional events with the exception of the Flag Day parade. If there is a problem with club attendance at the event clubs must let me know immediately. At least the officers must attend the events if they can’t get their members to attend. Please note that clubs must have a reasonable excuse for not attending otherwise I will be expecting every single one of you there.
