Summerfest 2018
10 June 2018
Dear Fellow Parishioners,
First of all, my sincerest thanks to all who pitched in to make our participation in the Village Summerfest festival such fun. Thanks to all
who contributed beer, soda, sangria, water, ice, baked goods, and all the other things that keep the food tent going so strongly all afternoon long.
Special thanks to Greg Gilbert from Memphis Mae’s for overseeing the food prep and cooking contingent, and all those volunteers for manning the
grills, serving the goodies, and cheerfully greeting the customers. Thanks to our Montessori staff and youngsters who marched in the parade and
manned the face painting booth, as well as our Respect Life Committee members who manned their tent. Thanks also to all those who worked on
the set-up crew, as well as the knock-down and clean-up crew. And the biggest thanks to Courtenay Walsh for orchestrating the whole production
– no small task to be sure! We will let you know next week the bottom line, after we get all the bills paid. In my years here, I think this was the
best year weather-wise, and the crowds reflected that. So once again, my thanks to one and all who in any way contributed to the success of the
day.
Secondly, I would like to draw your attention to two projects now underway, thanks to Renew and Rebuild. We are currently putting a
new roof on the rectory, which is the original and starting to shed (literally having slates and pieces of slate falling from the roof!). Hopefully it will
be done within the next two weeks. We are also currently working on replacing the church air-conditioning which, after some thirty years, has
seen better days. We will be installing a two-phase system (which means that we will be operating with one compressor until the system calls for
more cooling when the second compressor kicks in). We will also be installing three wall units in the front of the church so that on those in-
between days, we won’t have to turn on the main unit for only a few people. It will also be there to help keep bridal parties cool at a very
perspiration-inducing time!
We are continuing our efforts to save money. We have joined the Community Solar program which can help us save up to 10% on our
energy bills. We are also planning to install override devices on all of our boilers, so that no matter what individual thermostats are set at, the
boiler will not respond between programmed times (eg 9:00pm and 7:00am), except for maintaining minimal heat to avoid pipes freezing. We are
looking at a lot of things, and welcome any ideas/suggestions you may have for us to safe on our heating/cooling bills.
God bless you, one and all!
Fr. Brian

May Procession
Thank you!
Marlene Galazin shares:
Fr. Brennan brought to our attention that we are
all VIPs – VERY IMPORTANT PEOPLE because God
has chosen us and loves us unconditionally; let us
always remember that and try our very best to love
others.
I want to thank all of you for participating in our
May Procession celebration on May 6th, and I know
you have made Our Lady very happy. Special
thanks to Fr. Brennan, Manuel Coronel, the Knights
of Columbus (for leading our procession), Don Simons and
Regina Reily (for leading us in song), our Rosary reciters (for
leading us in prayer), and especially our First Communion
Children (Laila Asghar and Liam Rudden) with their
parents, and Tom Faranda for capturing these
moments with photos. Our Lady will always
remember you for honoring Her today.
If you wrote a special intention on the list, it will be
put in Our Lady’s Shrine at the back of the Church,
and if you would like a copy of HOW TO SAY THE
ROSARY, they are in a basket on the Usher Table.
She is always happy to hear from us.
Once again, thank you and as Red Skelton used to say at
the end of his TV show – May God Bless!!!!
