OUR LADY OF LOURDES, CINCINNATI, OH JUNE 1, 2014

My thanks to Carol Clark and her choir for the

morning music at our Memorial Day Mass. Thanks to

John Burwinkel for organizing it and for Private First

Class Jason Van Dulman for presenting the wreath

and representing all in the military.

I will be hearing confessions on Thursday from 1-2

p.m. and again at 7-8 p.m. in preparation for First

Friday.

Our Youth Group is going to the Red’s Game on

Friday June 6th. Call the office or Carla Rice for tick-

ets. There are fireworks after the game.

Next Saturday, June 7, we will be having a work

day around the parish. We will be spreading mulch

on the gardens that Chris Meyer and Pat Ernst plant-

ed. It looks great, guys. There is also some help

needed in the installation of cabling in the school for

the new security system. They tell me you do not

need to be an electrician to help with that. So if you

can spare a couple of hours, it would be greatly ap-

preciated.

Next Sunday is the feast of Pentecost. This brings

an end to the Easter season. Wear something red to

Mass.

Don’t forget the Festival is just in 20 days! I hope

you will help make this a successful year by volun-

teering in a booth, helping with set up or clean up,

making a dessert for the dinner, buying a raffle tick-

et or just coming up to have fun with your fellow

parishioners. Please say a prayer for good weather

and a safe and fun time for all who visit us.

Have a great week and enjoy the month of June.

Close to Each One of Us

Dear brothers and sisters, the As-

cension does not point to Jesus’

absence but tells us that he is alive

in our midst in a new way. He is no

longer in a specific place in the

world as he was before the Ascension. He is now in

the lordship of God, present in every space and

time, close to each one of us. In our life, we are never

alone; we have this Advocate who awaits us.

- General Audience, April 17, 2013

Reflection: What are some ways to remind yourself that Jesus is in

your midst each day? How can the reminder of his presence change

your attitude, your decisions, and your actions?

FAMILY OF THE MONTH

OLL welcomes Greg & Nicci Weber and their chil-

dren Tommy and Megan, as the Family of the

Month. Please remember the Weber Family in your

prayers this month. We ask God’s richest blessings

for them, through the intercession of Our Lady of

Lourdes. Take a look at the Family of the Month

display in the Gathering Space.

I want to serve the parish as an Education Commission

carried with me over the years.

OUR LADY OF LOURDES, CINCINNATI, OH JUNE 1, 2014

ASCENSION OF THE LORD

Here are some responses from kids with questions from adults: “After the christening of his baby brother in church, Jason sobbed all the way home in the back of the seat of the car. His father asked him three times what was wrong. Finally, the boy replied, “That preacher said he wanted us brought up in a Christian home, and I wanted to stay with you guys.” “The Sabbath School Teacher asked, “Now, Johnny, tell me frankly, do you say prayers before eat-ing? No sir, Johnny replies, I don’t have to. My mom is a good cook!”
