•  In April 2016, 310 million were using Twitter - but this doesn’t mean it is right for you

•  It is a good way to drive business to your website

•  It’s a great place to increase brand awareness

•  It shows that you are on top of social media

•  It’s a great way to build networks that could include potential clients/collaborators

•  Get feedback – statistics show that people tend to be more honest about how they feel about something on Twitter, than anywhere else. This can be hurtful, so pack your thick skin and respond appropriately

•  For events in particular it is a great space to create conversation

There are others – but do your research – don’t waste time on a platform that is NOT recommended for your industry or that is not

getting you results

2. Tell your story

This isn’t a boring CV. It’s your story. A story that people will remember.

Use anecdotes. Learn a lesson from the mummy bloggers e.g. Constance Hall and her Queen movement

Telling a story helps build your tribe and promote you/your work/your event. It helps people feel they are part of something and makes it easier for THEM to tell YOUR story and promote YOU.

n  It is useful for spreading ‘news’ not just everyday posts

n  ORGANIC traffic – likes and shares, views etc. that come to you without paid pushing

n  PAID – advertisements – particularly prominent on Facebook and now Instagram n  Is a great way to reach a large audience for little $$

n  In the small geographic area we cover, it can be very effective

n  Simple to use as you can target who you want based on your budget, your geographic reach, their interests, their occupation, gender, ages etc

n  Make sure you set yourself a budget

•  Can get a good reach regionally, for a reasonable price •  Set y our budget and stick to it •  Do not include text in your image – it may not get approved •  Make your ad really simple – link it off to elsewhere e.g. website •  Don’t target too many demographics, be really focussed •  Don’t be disheartened if it doesn’t work, reset your

demographics and try again •  Get to know your page insights and use these details to

determine when you will publish your ad (in fact any content)
