Quick Automatic Docking Mobile Energy Solution (Swappable Battery) for 2 and 3 Wheeled Electric Vehicles (readily available for Technology Transfer)
Automobile market in India is dominated by two and three wheelers. With over 100 million two wheelers and
more than five million three wheelers, the scale is indisputable. Moreover, these numbers are set to grow
consistently over next decade. Shift over of automobile sector from ICE to electrification lacks desired
infrastructure such as charging and service stations. Other major factors of concern of the batteries are cost,
safety and range anxiety.
Even with the availability of required infrastructure, charging time of current battery packs adds to the woes of
usability of electric vehicles for long travel. Hence concept of quick automatic docking mobile energy solution
comes into picture and by observing current transition trend, we can say that two and three wheelers mark an
excellent starting point for battery swapping in the country.
The new system consists of high voltage interlock protection circuit, which helps in bringing battery in safe
operating condition under any potential fault like under-voltage, overcharged and high temperature that may
lead to thermal run a way condition. It gives option of easy removal of battery from vehicle and charge at home
overnight. The new design provides electrical isolation between cells and mechanical enclosures, which helped
to overcome short-circuit problems inside battery pack. It reduces overall cost of vehicle by 30–40%, as it gives
option to sell vehicle separately from battery and put battery on lease / pay-per-use model. The solution is
designed to eliminate use of cable giving direct docking solution to connect the battery with vehicle and auxiliary
systems or during charging with compatible charger.

hours for dedicated park-and-charge solution).
Decreased Range Anxiety by swapping the consumed battery with fully charged one.
To introduce no down time solution, it eliminates wait time at charging station.
Reduced size of battery pack and adoption cost for 2 and-wheeled electric vehicles.
This Technology is readily available for transfer to the Industry
Seat is an integral part of vehicle. It is not only responsible for passenger seating, but ensuring maximum safety,
delivering utmost comfort and reducing fatigue irrespective of terrain. This essentially implies that seats need
to be smartly and thoughtfully engineered at design stage itself to lay the correct foundation.
With over five decades of engineering experience, ARAI offers an end-to-end solution in seat product
development. ARAI’s state-of-the-art Simulation and Testing Centre supports stakeholders to develop best in
class seat design at low cost and weight while meeting regulations and ensuring enhanced durability, strength,
comfort, dynamic stability, etc.
ARAI’s services pertaining to seat development can be categorized into two major segments. One being
traditional regulation testing service as per European, JIS, Indian and International standards while the other
involves complete product development related services, viz. Design, CAE, Virtual Validation, Proto
Development, VAVE, Field Failure Analysis, Road to Lab, Comfort, etc.
ARAI’s Testing and Simulation services together can help in developing comfortable, ergonomic, safe &
regulatory compliant design.
ARAI can have extensive engagement during various phases of seat development:
Tear down and Benchmarking:
ARAI’s tear down and benchmarking facility can provide a good start point for seat designers through comparative study and have insight to other development related important aspects. Concept initialization phase: Design concept initialization phase wherein new concept is to be developed or existing seat’s new versions, benchmarking, baseline concept.

Value Added Services
ARAI has been continuously supporting customers with testing set up and simulation tools to get optimum
solution for seat product development. Five decades of domain expertise in this field is an added advantage for
providing customers with more accurate, dependable and implementable solutions. With co-ordinated efforts of
simulation and test experts, we expedite solutions with significant product value add. With core strength of state-
of-the-art infrastructure, highly qualified and experienced manpower, ARAI is a trusted partner in product
development.
Electric vehicle development is the prime focus of automobile sectors due to ever-increasing pollution and
constant increasing pressure on demand of resources, due to less efficiency of conventional drives. Battery is
the most vital component of Electric Vehicle. ARAI has developed competency in Lithium-ion battery pack
design, thermal management and packaging for EVs and hybrid vehicle solutions to meet the standards,
regulations, market requirements and most vital customer expectations. The same is verified through simulation
for suitability to Indian conditions (driving as well as environmental).
While designing and packaging of battery pack, we focus on electrical performance as well as on mechanical
and thermal aspects. Precise simulation results help to optimize most appropriate thermal conditioning system
for application and optimize integration of cylindrical, pouch and prismatic cells. Suitable mechanical integration
of cells assures safety of battery pack under all conditions. ARAI has developed expertise in designing battery
pack for different voltage systems, like 24V and 48V for low voltage segments and 72V and 300V for high
voltage systems to provide battery packaging solution for 2, 3 and 4 wheeled vehicles in the market.
