About usCambridge Scholars Publishing

At Cambridge Scholars Publishing, we have over 5,000 titles in our catalogue across a range of subjects, with a particular focus on the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. We provide a dedicated author service, with no cost to the editor or author, complimentary copies, a substantial author discount, and free access to all of our eBook titles. We also offer a generous royalty structure, where authors receive royalties from the very first sale.

In addition, our publishing process is faster than most other publishers, typically ranging from three to six months after final submission without compromising either the quality of the publication or the balance between editorial guidance and the author’s control over the integrity of their original argument.

Our international Editorial Advisory Board consists of highly respected academics, noted for expertise in their fields. With a wealth of collective publishing experience, our Editorial Advisory Board plays a key role in helping us to steer our commissioning focus and to nurture and develop talent in academic publishing.

Our publications are marketed worldwide and sold through international booksellers including Amazon, Blackwell, Baker & Taylor, YBP and Ingram, and are widely purchased by academic libraries. We have distribution partnerships in key geographical territories such as the USA, China, India and the Middle East, and are continuing to expand our distribution network across the globe.

Post-intercultural Communication and Education SeriesSeries EditorFred Dervin

This book series, eclectic in scope, seeks to extend and revitalize scholarship on intercultural communication and education by publishing innovative, interdisciplinary and critical analyses of intercultural encounters. “Post-intercultural” refers to a recent paradigm shift in the way the ‘intercultural’ is conceptualized and researched, which lays more emphasis on the ‘inter-‘ and plural identities rather than on the ‘-cultural’ when dealing with questions of migration, glocalization, digitalization, and Otherness. The primary objective of the series is to challenge e.g. differentialism, culturism and neocolonialism in research on the ‘intercultural’. The series encourages the exploration of new and creative research methods that move beyond methodological nationalism and imaginaries. The series publishes high-quality single-authored or edited volumes. The published volumes will appeal to an international readership interested in new insights into interculturality: practitioners (teachers/consultants), policy makers, scholars, and advanced students.

Fred Dervin is Professor of Multicultural Education at the University of Helsinki (Finland). He is also Associate Professor of Theology/Religious Sciences at the University of Montreal (Canada). He specializes in the sociology of multiculturalism, (language and) intercultural education and applied linguistics. Prof. Dervin’s approach to the ‘intercultural’ gives emphasis to the prefix ‘inter’ and contexts rather than to the old and tired concept of ‘culture’. Dervin has published extensively on identity, the ‘intercultural’ and mobility/migration. His latest books include Politics of Interculturality (co-edited with Anne Lavanchy and Anahy Gajardo (Newcastle: Cambridge Scholars, 2011) and Impostures Interculturelles (Paris: L’Harmattan, 2012).

Rashi Rohatgi teaches Cultural Studies at Skidmore College’s London program. With a research focus on world literature, diaspora culture, and international pedagogy, she has organized several international conferences on comparative studies and co-edited an issue of Comparative Critical Studies on the topic of ‘Comparing Centres, Comparing Peripheries’. She has published extensively on Indian Ocean literature, and is translating Mauritian writer Abhimanyu Unnuth’s Lal Pasina. She currently serves as Reviews Editor for Africa in Words.

Rashi has authored Fighting Cane and Canon: Abhimanyu Unnuth and the Case of World Literature in Mauritius. Isabel Hofmeyr, Professor of African Literature, University of the Witwatersrand, describes the title as engaged “with larger themes that reflect critically on world literature and its limited capacities to make sense of writers like Unnuth. It is one of the first studies of Hindi literature considered within the framework of the Indian Ocean world and makes a significant contribution to this rapidly growing field”.

“I have thus far published one monograph with Cambridge Scholars. Home to the Di-mensions of the Indian Ocean World series and several related titles, when they reached out, they seemed to me a natural fit. As it was my first monograph, when I found that the people I would be working with at the publishing house were always happy to answer any questions I had about the process, I was sold. The quality of the book is solid and the visual and marketing departments also very happy to offer hands-on guidance. All in all, I was very pleased with the editorial process, with the team always accessible, knowledgeable, and dynamic; I hope to continue working with them for further publications.”

Michael J. K. Walsh is Associate Professor of Art History and Associate Chair (Research) of the School of Art, Design and Media at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. He conducted his graduate studies at the Universities of Cambridge, St. Andrews and York, before taking up employment at the Department of Archaeology and Art History, Eastern Mediterranean University, Famagusta, where he stayed for nine years. In this time, he successfully nominated the historic city of Famagusta twice for inclusion in the World Monuments Fund Watch List. He has co-edited several other books on Famagusta, including Medieval and Renaissance Famagusta (Ashgate, 2012), Crusader to Venetian Famagusta (Central European University Press, 2014), and Famagusta: Contemporary Images from an Historic City(Datz Press, 2015).

“I was delighted to learn that Cambridge Scholars Publishing had a series within it called ‘Cyprus: Historical and Contemporary Studies’, under the overall editorship of historian Dr Andrekos Varnava. He warmly embraced the topic I proposed and before long the book City of Empires: Ottoman and British Famagusta was underway. Working with Cam-bridge Scholars was a pleasure too: both time efficient and editorially rigorous. Cambridge Scholars also understood the need to have the book published in two different formats - A5 for those interested in the details of the art and diagrams reproduced, and A4 for the more general reader. As my research on the historic city of Famagusta continues, I shall have no hesitation in returning to both Andrekos Varnava and his series at Cambridge Scholars for future publication.”
