Happy Holidays and Best Wishes to all! I hope everyone’s season is off to a fantastic start.

RAHA teams continue to add hardware to our trophy case at RCC and are playing very com-

petitive district games, as well as against some top teams in scrimmages.

Now that the teams are formed and the season is in full swing, I wanted to say thank you to

everyone who has contributed in making our 2012-2013 season a successful one. Thank you

to our past boards for putting us in the position to continue to expand and offer our RAHA

players some great opportunities. Thank you to our present board members; I truly feel I

am one of the luckiest Presidents to serve RAHA. Thank you to our corporate sponsors, your

donations to our program are not only greatly appreciated, but crucial in our efforts to pro-

vide exciting opportunities for our players. To all our great volunteers, Boosters, Conces-

sions, Tournament, Fundraising, and Operations, we could not do this without your assis-

tance, thank you for the help. I am very thankful for all the team managers that keep our

teams organized and informed – this is no easy task, but your role is one of the most crucial

for a successful season. To our RAHA coaches, I can’t tell you enough how much you mean

to the development of our players, but also the advancement of our program. Finally, many

thanks to the parents for allowing your daughters and sons to play this wonderful game of

hockey – we all wouldn’t be here without your kids. I am very proud of our young athletes;

they are doing some amazing things both on and off the ice. The true success of our pro-

gram will not be known for 10 to 15 years, but we can only hope to give our players the

opportunities to learn the values of hard work, commitment, and what it takes to be a great

teammate.

I hope everyone has had an opportunity to participate in many of our fundraising offerings

like the Kwik Trip program which continues to provide financial relief to the families partici-

pating. Gerten’s and World’s Finest Chocolates have also assisted in reducing ice bills.

There are still plenty of ongoing opportunities to participate in, so please take advantage of

these programs. The concession stand also supports our overall hockey operations, so if

you are in need of a great cup of coffee or a snack, check out the many different items of-

fered.

Have a safe and happy holiday season and please take every

opportunity to let your loved ones know what they mean to

you.

I look forward to seeing you at the rink.

Sincerely,

John

RAHA has once again teamed up with Sweet Hockey Training. This online video training module will be

available for one full year as part of the player registration fees. We are utilizing this program because to offer

this program it will make our hockey players better!!

During practices, there isn’t time to spend on stationary stick handling work. Sweet Hockey is a way for players to have a specific, progressive

training program to work on this skill set. Sweet Hockey Training is available to all Rosemount players and can be accessed at home for indi-

vidual home training or can be used as a tool for team off ice training. Each drill has a video demonstration that will show the player proper

technique, posture, and an explanation of how this drill can be utilized in the game of hockey.

To access the video library, go to the Sweet Hockey tab on the RAHA website and login with the same NGIN account used to register. The

link to Sweet Hockey will appear on the top navigation. From there you can link to the videos, training plans or Chat with Lance.

Dryland training with Curt Meiers of Minnesota Strength Academy kicked off on December 3rd at The Pond!

If you haven’t had a chance, go check out the updated dryland area at The Pond.

Curt offers training that focuses total athletic development of hockey players by focusing on hockey speed

strength and power. He works with players on balance coordination, stability and control while moving their

own body weight while also improving flexibility. This conditioning transfers into great hockey performances.

Curt believes it is imperative to provide a positive and encouraging environment so athletes are able to over-

come any short comings in their athletic ability and improve their self confidence.

Curt Meiers has been a strength and speed athlete since a very young age growing up playing hockey, football, running track and lifting

weights. At age 12 Curt began weight training in his parent’s basement which grew into lifting at the high school weight room 5 days a week

in preparation for high school athletics. At age 15 Curt began training many of his team mates and friends who were eager to learn his lift-

ing techniques and strength and conditioning programs. In 1986 while attending the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Curt was invited

to train at the prestigious Busek Gymnasium in Munich, West Germany where he trained with international power lifters, strongmen and

bodybuilding champions from several European countries and the Soviet Union. Curt has trained around the country and Europe and has

worked with many athletes including the Minnesota Wild with strength and speed training. With over 30 years experience and coaching

over 350 sessions each summer, Hockey Strength and Conditioning training is a full time profession and passion for Curt and the success

of his Athletes continue to grow each year.

The latest issue of “Let’s Play Hockey” had an article entitled “Athletes Make the Best Hockey Players.” We are excited to partner with The

Pond and Minnesota Strength Academy to build our athletes. All parents are encouraged to watch the dryland sessions to see how this pro-

gram is developing your player.

From the Rosemount Tournament:

The Rosemount Irish Squirt C White team took home third place in the

23rd Annual Irish Ice Classic. The Tournament started out with a hard fought

3 to 1 victory against Apple Valley. It took a complete team effort to pull

out the win. Saturdays game against the Stillwater Ponies was one to forget.

The team never quit and played to the final buzzer in a one sided 0 - 10 loss.

Sundays 3rd place game was against the Stillwater Stallions. The kids came

out ready to avenge the previous day’s loss. They came out skating hard,

playing position and with great goaltending came out on top with a 4 - 2 victory,

bringing Rosemount more hardware for our trophy case.

From the Hopkins Thanksgiving Tournament:

Squirt C White Team brought home 1st

place in the 37th

annual Hopkins Thanksgiving Tournament.

The White Team opened the tournament with a come from behind win against Edina. Down 0 to 2 going into the 3rd period,

the White Team never gave up and scored 3 goals in the third to win Game One 3 to 2. Second game against Eden Prairie was a

nail biter. Down 0 to 1 with a little over a minute left in the 3rd period the White Team scored and sent the game into over-

time. It took a second overtime to seal the deal and go on to the championship game with a 2 to 1 win. The Championship

game was against Bloomington Jefferson. After going down by 1 goal, the White Team came soaring back with an 8 to 2 win

and brought the hardware home to Rosemount.

Congratulations Squirt C White Team!

Congrats to the boys for winning the Hopkins Tourney Consolation game with a 3-2 victory over Elk River! The

boys went 2-1 in the tourney with an opening loss to Orono 4-0, and came back with a 3-1 win over Eagan and

finished with the win over Elk River.

The Bantam AA team competed in the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) tournament in

Blaine, MN the weekend of November 30th - December 2nd. The tournament was made up of teams from Dal-

las, San Jose, Pikes Peak, Omaha and St. Louis with the Irish being the lone Minnesota team. The Irish first took

on the Pikes Peak Miners and came out with a 9-1 victory. They followed that up with victories over the Omaha

Lancers and the St. Louis Selects in OT. Once again the Irish faced the Lancers and beat them 3-1 to advance to

the championship where they met up with the talented St. Louis Selects again. The Irish proceeded to get on a
