I get the sense that everyone is reeling, either because business is really good, or really bad. It is also two months into my contract as SAMRA CEO, and that reeling feeling is not at all unfamiliar to me. And so I welcomed this opportunity to write to you as a respite from the hustle and bustle, and hope that you will experience reading this issue of the SAMRA Newsletter in the same spirit! What has been happening at SAMRA in the past few months, and what is on the cards for the rest of the year? The SAMRA Annual General Meeting is on 14 August, and an Extraordinary General Meeting has been called for the same day, for approval of the SAMRA annual financial statements, the election of Directors and appointment of Auditors, a proposed membership restructure, and changes to the Memorandum and Articles of Association as required by legislative changes and good governance requirements. If you are a member of SAMRA, or a non-member subscriber, you should receive your copy of the Southern African Journal of Marketing Research any time now. This latest issue is, at the very least, thought-provoking – make sure you read it! Professional development activities included the well-received Introduction to Ethics webinar and the Online 101 workshop. Scheduled for the remainder of the year are a series of Data Mining workshops, Ethics webinars, the SAMRA Conference in August and September is Qualitative month. Letter from the CEO It is hard to believe that we have passed the half-way mark of 2012. I get the sense that everyone is reeling, either because business is really good, or really bad. It is also two months into my contract as SAMRA CEO, and that reeling feeling is not at all unfamiliar to me. And so I welcomed this opportunity to write to you as a respite from the hustle and bustle, and hope that you will experience reading this issue of the SAMRA Newsletter in the same spirit!

What has been happening at SAMRA in the past few months, and what is on the cards for the rest of the year?

The SAMRA Annual General Meeting is on 14 August, and an Extraordinary General Meeting has been called for the same day, for approval of the SAMRA annual financial statements, the election of Directors and appointment of Auditors, a proposed membership restructure, and changes to the Memorandum and Articles of Association as required by legislative changes and good governance requirements.

If you are a member of SAMRA, or a non-member subscriber, you should receive your copy of the Southern African Journal of Marketing Research any time now. This latest issue is, at the very least, thought-provoking – make sure you read it!

Professional development activities included the well-received Introduction to Ethics webinar and the Online 101 workshop. Scheduled for the remainder of the year are a series of Data Mining workshops, Ethics webinars, the SAMRA Conference in August and September is Qualitative month.

The 2012 SAMRA Yearbook is being finalised and will be sent out shortly.

Towards the end of October and early December, the branches will be having their year-end functions to celebrate the successes of 2012 and to look forward to whatever 2013 will hold for us.

Are you passionate about qualitative research? SAMRA Membership under Review

For some time, SAMRA has been looking into various ways to designated research roles, representation will be strengthen both the industry and the organisation.
