THOUGHTS FROM BRAD …

I want to thank everyone who participated in our Summer Mission trip to Grundy Mountain Mission School. Your hard work and service to the Lord was greatly appreciated by me and the campus staff. Those who participated with me were: Mark, Samantha, Tyler, Ryan and Anna Hendricks, Kim Seevers, Bob Neff, Nancy Speakman, Lori Highfield and Nancye Rose. I pray that Grundy will always hold a special place in your heart. I also want to thank everyone who gave toward this trip in our 2013 special offering. Our service would not have been possible without your generosity. Well done church! I recognize that there were probably some who could not participate this year because of scheduling. Why not consider going abroad next year on a foreign mission field? Keep looking in the near future for an informational meeting concerning our destination. This week, Kim and I will be in Indianapolis for the North American Christian Convention as we experience a time of refreshing and spiritual renewal. Please pray for us as we travel. Why not worship with us? You can go online to www.gotonacc.org and access each main session and hear great speakers from around the country on July 8-11th. The website informs you when the sessions start. A great passage that I want to leave with today reminds of the times in which we now live. It is Proverbs 1:20-23. It says, “Wisdom shouts in the streets. She cries out in the public square. She calls to the crowds along the main street, to those gathered in front of the city gate: ‘How long, you simpletons, will you insist on being simpleminded? How long will you mockers relish your mocking? How long will you fools hate knowledge? Come and listen to my counsel. I’ll share my heart with you and make you wise.’” If ever there was a time we need to encourage people to listen to the Lord’s counsel, it is now! The challenge to listen to God includes our listening as well to Him. What is He asking you to listen to Him about today? Of what life choice do we need to follow His guidance? Listen! Be quiet; stay still. Listen to your God and see what he would have you do. In His Service,

Brad

BITS FROM BRO. DAVE

KEENAGERS’ TRIP IN JULY: On

Wednesday, July 30, we will be traveling to

The Village of Zoar which is located just

north of Strasburg, Ohio. This village was

settled in 1817 by German Separatists who

came to this country seeking religious

freedom. The village thrived for some 80

years and is, today, inhabited by about 75

families living in buildings constructed

from 1817 to the present. We will be

learning about the Zoarites’ unique religion

and history. The cost, per person, will be

$13. This includes admission and travel.

(Lunch will be on your own.) Our

departure time is 7:30 am.

MIDWEEK BIBLE STUDIES: These

sessions are being suspended, as is our

custom, during the months of July and

August. Watch this space for

announcements regarding future studies.

NEW HORIZON RETREAT: This annual

gathering, for seniors, is held each year in

Zanesville. (We have attended for several

years.) This year, the date is Tuesday,

September 9. Watch for more information!

FINAL THOUGHT: Don’t you wonder

why they call them the “secrets of success”

when there are so many trying to sell them

to us?

Cathy Gohlke couldn't write an inferior novel if she tried.

All her releases so far have been bright with excellence,

compelling stories, and unforgettable characters. Saving

Amelie confirms Cathy's superior writing ability, as well

as her understanding of history and compassion for its

people. Set during World War II in Nazi Germany, the

story will draw you in from the first page and not let you

go until the end. One reviewer wrote of the "heart" and

"faith" woven into the story, as well as the bravery and

obedience to God's Word, even in impossible

circumstances. The "facts" and research of the story are

all too true, and if you've read any of the author's other

novels you know you can expect a great read about a

difficult, even horrifying, subject from this, her most

recent effort. Cathy Gohlke writes from the heart ... a

caring heart ... and from a wealth of research and insight

as well. A major achievement from a major author.

WELCOME TO FIFTH AVENUE! At FACC, we focus on loving God,

loving people, and turning the world upside down.

We are happy you chose to worship with us today. We hope you return next week and bring your friends with you. If you would

please take a few minutes to fill out a “Silent Roll Call Card”, located on the back

of the pew, you can then place it in the offering plate as it is passed. Thank you.

For more information about our great church, contact our minister, Brad Seevers at [email protected] or call him at

740.550.9882. Have a great week and may

God bless your life.

Loring and Carol Beerbower, past members of Fifth Avenue, are

celebrating their 60th anniversary on Saturday, July 12th, 2-5pm, at the

First Church of Christ, 118 N. Main St., Hicksville, OH. Their family

requests no gifts, but cards and memories are welcome. If unable to attend, you may send the card (by

July 8th) to Sharon Beerbower, 3425

W. Landis Rd., Angola, IN 46703.

Core Values...

Values central to the life, mission and vision of Fifth Avenue Church of Christ are:

Christ-Centered Worship We make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate Jesus through our music. (Romans 11:36-12:1-2). We focus on Jesus through grace-

based preaching and teaching & understand the Bible is our authority (2 Timothy 3:16).

Church Health and Biblical Balance Church health becomes reality when God's people seek harmony &

live consistently. We expect every member to protect the unity of Christ's Church. (Romans 12:16; 1 Peter 3:8)

Global Evangelism We are constant to our founding call to worldwide evangelism,

proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is the Savior, Healer, and Soon-Coming King (Acts 20:27).

Fellowship and Ministry After people begin their journey with Jesus, we will equip them to find a ministry based upon their strengths. We want everyone to

serve in some capacity. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27) We also want His church to be the living evidence of His love and power to the world.

Discipleship We do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth Avenue Church of Christ in Lancaster. We are all about teaching you that Jesus seeks

a daily relationship with Him through a life of obedience. In other words, we want to see the things you are taught actually change

your lifestyle & your daily decisions.

Social Conscience We place high value on the sanctity of human life, of Biblical

marriage and morality, and we welcome ethnic diversity (Isaiah 56:7; Philippians 2:15-16).

OUR PURPOSE

WE EXIST TO …

Exalt God’s Greatness; Evangelize God’s Work

Equip God’s People Express God’s Love through Jesus Christ

OUR MISSION

“To Love God and Love People!”

How Can I Respond Today?

At FACC we look to the Bible for guidance on all

issues. We believe that God’s Word is clear

concerning what a person must do to become a

Christian.

Trust that Jesus can bring you to salvation.

Turn (repent) from the sin in your life.

Confess your desire to make Jesus the Lord

of your life.

Be baptized (immersed) in water for the

forgiveness of sins and to receive the Holy

Spirit into your life.

To make this life decision for Christ, we ask that you

come forward during our commitment song at the

conclusion of the Sunday message. Baptized believers

are welcome to become members at FACC by coming

forward on Sunday morning or by seeing our Senior

Minister to discuss this further. We ask that you

complete a series of Curious classes to help you

better understand what you are committing to as a

member. If you would like to take a Curious class,

please indicate this on your Silent Roll Call Card.
