Performance Improvement Presentations Improving the Patient Experience through the Patient Safety Bundle How would your patients rate their care in your organization? Would they recommend you to their friends and family? Patient-centered care is directly correlated with better outcomes. Learn how one organization analyzed its current HCAHPS survey scores, developed a targeted education approach and implemented a patient safety bundle to increase patient experience scores. Leah Ramos, MSN, RN, CCRN‐K, NE‐BC; Katie Steidle, MSN, RN, NPD‐BC, SCRN; Weatherly Rogers Brice, MSN, RN Medical University of South Carolina

Decreasing Incontinence Associated Dermatitis in the Acute Care Setting The early assessment of at-risk patients with the evidenced based IAD identification tool, GLOBIAD, was imperative for the bedside nurse to accurately assess and care for their patient. Once identified, the bedside RN was able to use the treatment algorithm to manage incontinence and protect and treat the patient with evidence of IAD in an efficient manner. Amanda Sterling, DNP, RN, CCRN  Roper Saint Francis Healthcare

Reducing C. difficile by Utilizing a 2-person Verification for Appropriate Testing

Learn how a Progressive Care Unit decreased hospital-acquired C. diff by 62%. Decreasing inappropriate testing was accomplished by providing focused education and implementing a 2-person verification prior to sending a sample for C diff testing. This project further outlines the importance of shared governance in this process as well as bedside staff engagement in quality initiatives.
