October follow up on July Cedar Valley meeting: On Oct 10, 2016, at 11:15 AM, Fann, Monica <[email protected]> wrote:

Dr. Alexander,

Hello. Below you will find some information pertaining to the discussion items during our visit to your facility. Please accept my apology for the delay in getting this information to you.

I. Requirements for off-campus clinical instruction sites.Appendix C contains information from the AVMA CVTEA policy. This is basically what we require for our online students. It will require your program to employ a veterinarian or licensed veterinary technician to serve as an instructor. In order to complete all tasks for the CVTEA you will need a veterinarian available in at least some capacity.

Appendix C - CAMPUS CLINICAL INSTRUCTION -- CVTEA believes that off-campus sites may be used to meet some or all of an accredited program’s requirements for clinical instruction. The following information is provided for clarification of accreditation requirements:

1.The parent institution must have clearly defined and appropriate educational goals for off-campus clinical instruction, the resources and structure necessary to accomplish these objectives and a contingency plan to replace resources that become unavailable.

2.Off-campus instructors must be identified. A licensed veterinarian or a credentialed veterinary technician must supervise the instruction.

3.A course syllabus must be in place, including clearly identified course objectives and an Essential Skills List.

4.Student knowledge and/or skill must be evaluated at the completion of each course by faculty employed by the parent institution.

5.Special emphasis must be placed on outcomes assessment to ensure that students achieve the established educational objectives. Provisions for monitoring student progress must exist.

6.Memoranda of understanding (MOUs) must be established with all clinical sites that provide instruction of required specific skills. Specific criteria must be used to assist site supervisors in appropriately monitoring student progress. Clinical sites must meet objective requirements regarding practice quality, staff, and equipment. Student liability must be formally addressed by the parent institution and a policy implemented. If an off-campus clinical site is a primary source of clinical instruction, the MOU must have appropriate exit strategies and the Program should have a continuity of operations plan.

7.Academic and student support services must be available.

8.Clinical sites must be sufficiently diverse to ensure that students receive the variety of experience necessary to meet the requirements of the CVTEA.

II. Tuition rate. The tuition rate for out-of-District, in-state students who are taking dual credit courses online or in-person would be the in-District rate (currently $59 per credit hour).

Please let us know how you would like to proceed. We will be happy to discuss any further questions you may have and look forward to developing this program with you and helping your students succeed in the veterinary field. October 24, 2016 - STEM Advisory Meeting There were approximately 60 people in attendance from the community, higher education, our faculty, students, outside businesses, and parents.

Outcomes/Takeaways: There is a lot of interest in changing education to make it a more rigorous, relevant experience for all students. IVF is quickly growing area that will provide jobs for our students. Students are more capable than what we give them credit for. In the spring, have students present during the meal to have better use of time.

October 25 - External Instructional Rounds There were approximately 40 people in attendance to participate in Rounds including students from ACU, higher education faculty and area educators. Purpose: To develop a shared understanding of what high-Quality instruction looks like and to provide us feedback to support and improve upon our practice. Outcomes/Takeaways: As and Early College High School, we implement the Rounds Process to determine areas of strength and weakness and next steps so that we can achieve our goal of 90% of our students receiving the Associate's Degree. We need to get the work out sooner so Region 14 can disseminate information to increase our number of participants, especially in our immediate area.

Hello friends from Roscoe ISD, TAMU, and TTU! Kim, Roxanna, Gary, Steven , David, Scott, Greg, Darrell, Jacob, Marsha, Tamara, and others I've missed. The WVU team had a truly great and frankly inspirational visit with you all, and we are tremendously appreciative of the time you gave us. We are charged up now with the ideas you shared, from the whole school approach, to breaking cycles of poverty and disfunction, to technology and business in the schools, to linkages in message and expectation from elementary to high school, to making college signs and notions prominent in the school buildings, to integration of 4H and FFA into the whole , to prioritizing school use of resources, to facilitative and enabling coordination between WTC and Roscoe ISD, and between TTU - TAMU and Roscoe, and more. Great stuff, important work, compelling ideas. Thanks for all of it. (And the great meals too !) We are already plotting our next steps and are certain to be back to you for more sharing of ideas. I have already ordered a WVU flag and couple pennants for your school! watch for those in the mail before too long. All the very best and look forward to crossing paths again and moving forward. Good Morning Dr. Alexander,

It was a pleasure getting to learn more about Roscoe ISD at the recent Districts of Innovation conference in Mansfield. You shared some incredibly innovative ways the district has found to provide post-secondary preparedness and opportunities to your students. The purpose of this email is to inquire into the possibility of having a few members of our team visit Roscoe ISD to learn more about the CTE, STEM, and Early-College opportunities you provide to students. Our superintendent, board members, and lead teachers are very eager to observe and learn more about the work and research your students are doing with your Agricultural emphasis in STEM. If is it possible for us to come visit Roscoe, please just let me know how you would prefer to communicate further regarding the opportunity. I can give you a call or email works for me as well. We do not want to intrude or disrupt but are very impressed by what your district is doing and would like to learn more. Thank you for your time and consideration,

Feb 13

Dear Roscoe Principals and Mrs. Alexander, Good morning, I would like to see if some of my staff members can come out for a visit. Ideally, my high school, elementary, and I could all come on the same day for better vertical communication. If not, I understand as I know it is tough coordinating between primary and secondary levels. I would like the High School to visit with your drones instructor and possibly robotics. I would like for my Robotics teacher to partner up with our marketing, ag., and computer programming teachers to see if they can do a joint venture with one another. It sounds like you are already doing that with the drones program in the fields of real estate and agriculture. I had the pleasure of visiting with Dusty at TASA Midwinter last month. For my Elementary, I would like for the Elementary Principal and staff members to visit your Montessori School and check out what you are doing in robotics, career, and STEM preparation.

I understand that you have Spring Break during the week of March 13th. I would like to try and do this during the week of March 6th or the week before. General Takeways: Innovation is everywhere; We found out that for the most part we are on the right track with our Associate's Degrees plus the workforce certificates. Everybody is at a different point in their planning and execution process. Different schools of different sizes have unique problems, but we all have the common desire to provide a better education for the students of Texas. Visiting other places and hosting people here reinforces our practices. We share the information with teachers during PTC that is held on every Friday with all faculty. Preparation- Lodging if needed; Lunch; Packets created and put together; Tours planned; Moving of classes is sometimes needed; Subs are sometimes needed; April 11 - Instructional Rounds
