Greetings from LumenSoft July 2016

Hope everyone had a super happy Eid. The thing about festivities, and of course holidays, is that you get back to work with renewed vigor and more ideas for the future. Talking of the future, Cloud is where the future of retail is heading. To cater to the emerging needs of retailers, our new flagship product, Candela Cloud POS, was rolled out in June. Candela Cloud RMS mirrors Candela RMS in features but with enhanced freedom and functionality while saving deployment costs and time. You just need a login in return for a monthly subscription fee to take your business to the cloud…and the stars!

You can try it for free for 14 days. To get a free login and password send us an email. Last month we also introduced many new features to make Candela the software for retail. Upgrade your release and use the new features. We look forward to your feedback on Candela Cloud and the other features introduced in our retail software. Email us or find us on facebook, twitter, or forum. Happy Retailing

Have a look at what created a buzz in the forum:

How can a retailer/wholesaler enter received goods in both packs and units while preparing Goods Received Note?

How can one sell in both units and packs on the sales and return screen in Candela POS?

How can you implement exchange rate of foreign currency on GRN and other screens in Candela POS?

It’s New

Make a point here.

• Do you make purchase orders? Do you want to see details of the PO (s) made during a certain time period? Well! You can do so now. Our new report F-16 helps you keep track of all your Purchase Orders (Introduced in release 12008).

It’s a dynamic report (after all, it is F-16!).

You can generate item wise, PO wise and supplier wise reports to see the prepared purchase orders along with their delivery dates and details of the products included in the purchase orders.

it’s New

If you are using Nested barcodes to sell the same product in different quantities and want that nested names should appear on the sale receipt instead of just the parent product, a new feature in release 12009 helps you do it.

Now when you sell nested products, the sales receipts show these products by their names. For example, if cigarette is your main product and you have defined its different packs as nested products and given them different names, the sales receipt will show the names of nested products. This will help your customers see what exactly they have purchased.

Candela POS makes it very easy to use your sales receipt as a marketing tool. You

can use your headers and footers as marketing messages by regularly changing them

according to your requirements:

Ask our TechieDear Techie,

I have been using Candela point of sale for quite a while now- in fact last month completed my five years as Candela Point of Sale user. There is one thing that I haven’t understood. It’s minor and it’s not an impediment either. But it bothers me because I don’t know what purpose it serves.

When I am defining size and color inventory a size a color grid appears on the product definition screen. Along with the defined colors and sizes, the grid also shows (999) Default checkbox. What purpose does this checkbox serve?

Dear Retailer who has been using Candela POS for over five years,

Happy fifth Candela-user Anniversary.

This innocent looking checkbox serves an important purpose. If you are defining your inventory (products) under size and color line item but you don't want to define sizes or colors for a particular product, mark the check-box 'Default Color and Default Size for it.' It is important because the system will not let you save a product that's being defined under a size and color line item unless you select sizes and colors for it.

If you want to define colors for some product but not the sizes, you can select the check box 'Default Size' for such products. While preparing GRN matrix for such products the quantity of the product will be entered in the Default size or 999 column. All this is part of retail management! Hope this clears the confusion. Stay Happy.Yours in RetailCandela Techie

• If I want to create product assemblies, I will first select a supplier as assembly supplier on System Configuration>Sale tab.

Repeat After Me

• If I want to enter vendor code while defining products, I will mark the checkbox ‘Display Vendor Code’ on System Configuration>Product/STR tab.

• If I want to block sale for negative inventory, I will mark the checkbox ‘Block Sale for Negative Inventory’ on System Configuration>Sale tab. Now if I try to sell products that don’t exist in the stock, the system will not let me do it.

• If I want to change my password, I will go to: Utilities>Change Password screen.

This too is HappeningThink about it

In the good old days the user name and password were enough. As long as your password was complicated enough and you changed it regularly your account was safe. Or so you thought!Things have changed. If stories of hacking are anything to go by, hackers have become a lot smarter than your smartest passwords. While biometrics is trying to take care of the problem, Professor John Chuang, co-director of the university's BioSENSE Lab, is all set to take biometrics to a new level with ‘passthought.’ This means you will be using your thoughts aka brainwaves to log on to your account. Technology is getting too close for comfort?
